Re: Soapbox: Poor Communication Continues to Be PSN's Biggest Problem

Crisis communication 101 - get an official message out quickly as soon as possible when something widespread goes wrong. You don't need to get all the details out there right away, just explain there is knowledge of the problem, it is being worked on, and provide updates as they become available ideally with a timeframe for resolution. These outages have happened enough and so much time has elapsed from the first until now that the crisis communication team could have EASILY come up with a template for this situation to bang messages out pronto. You're right, it's not the technical team being lax, but the PR/Comm team is simply not doing its job effectively.

Re: Sony Engineers Investigating as PS4 Goes Offline Again

It's not the isolated incidents that are bothering as much as the total of outages that have taken place all year. At fault, preventable, or not, the return on investment for the PS+ subscription has not been worth it for me at all. Either do away with charging, reimburse people for time lost, use the $ to beef up the infrastructure, put out some better free offerings that actually work, whatever. Just do something, because your PR is really starting to suffer badly from this. If people that just got the system are feeling frustrated, imagine dealing with it time and time again for over the course of a year.

Re: Talking Point: Is This Gaming's Most Disappointing Ever Year?

Were there disappointments, sure. Was it the 'most' disappointing year. Not for me. (How does one qualify that anyway, it's mostly subjective.) Destiny and the outages were my big low points. Other than that, I enjoyed most of what I played, included some less than embraced titles. I liked Thief, Pure Pool, Watch Dogs (though it would've been cool for it to live up more to its hype), really enjoyed Shadows of Mordor, enjoying Sherlock Holmes now, looking very much forward to Far Cry, Dragon's Age, and GTA5. Glad to be entertained with the titles I've purchased, and glad I stayed away from some of the others that were hyped.

Re: PS4 Potter Pure Pool Sinks a Sizeable Patch

Glad they're fixing this. I've enjoyed the game since its release, but it's been pretty buggy. Hoping this patch tucks them away for good. Wish they would have added a straight pool option, but I guess you can't have it all.

@charlesnarles
◾Follow the corridor until you reach the clock and zoom in on it. You should notice that time appears to be passing this time. Listen to it tick until you hear a midnight chime.
◾Your next task is to get a baby to laugh three times. The first of these can be obtained by walking ten paces or so.
◾The second laugh is a little harder to get started. We achieved it by inspecting the radio, phone, and mirror. If you walk up and down the ‘L’ shaped corridor between focusing on these objects, you’ll eventually come into contact with a ghostly figure. There appears to be no real rhyme or reason to these encounters – some claim that having a microphone plugged into the console and making random noises help – so just keep plodding backwards and forwards until you get the second laugh.
◾Once you hear the second laugh, stay still and your controller will rumble. Remain steady until the rumbling passes. You should hear a third laugh.
◾Finally, the phone at the bottom of the hallway will ring. Focus on it using R3 and you will answer it. Exit through the door at the bottom of the staircase to complete the game.

If you can't get the 2nd laugh to happen using the steps above, try plugging in the earphone/mic that came with your PS4 and speak into it. That was the trick that worked for me.
