Re: Poll: Five Years of PS5 - How Would You Rate Sony's Console?

@Junghova I’m curious as to your reasons. I also started with the 2600 (I’m 54) and am increasingly getting less enamoured by games. Have bought a switch 2 but doubt I will play much except perhaps Mario & Zelda & have decided to let go of the PlayStation line (and any other future consoles) after the PS5.

Re: Iconic N64 Shooter Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Will Aim at PS5, PS4

I'm enjoying this conversation thread and leaving the page open to see where it goes. I loved that era of gaming, and it's good to see the differing opinions.

I'm adoring the experience of going back to Quake 1 and 2 on my PS5, particularly for the 120fps, but am now used to the epic progression of story and environment of modern FPS games.

So I'm going back to them when I feel like revelling in that lovely visceral, not-overly-complex brutal gameplay of Quake 2, but it only lasts for a while until I have to put it down as I feel like I'm just clearing similar areas to go to the next one.

Brilliant, but for a single player story driven FPS that really sucks me in long term, something like the modern Wolfenstein games appeal to me more.

Still, I'll keep going back to Q1&2 just in short busts when I need that simple theraputic pleasure of wanton massacre.

Re: Voice Actress Laura Bailey Keen to Reprise Role in Potential Sequel to The Last of Us: Part II

Part 2 was a masterpiece, but lost some of the warmth present in their other games, which made me feel less engaged with and absorbed in the game. TLOU2 really is an amazing achievement and a real Magnus opus of conflicting moralities, but I loved the camaraderie and togetherness of battling for good and the singularity of purpose of achieving a righteous goal in part 1 and the uncharted games.

Joel was a flawed character, but the resolving of his internal pain and his growing and eventually unshakeable parental love for Ellie was wonderful to see unfold in part 1 and made us look past his gruff exterior & see something much deeper in him. That added huge depth to his character in a heartfelt and evolving theme rather than making him so conflicted you couldn’t really fully like or relate to him. And for me, relating to a character is what makes me engage and feel absorbed in a game. Abby just wasn’t that for me.

That feel-good aspect of the singularity of purpose in the face of adversity is what I love about their games. I guess they thought that aspect had been played out, which I totally understand, but I hope they go back to that underlying principle and seek to expand their narrative in other ways.

Irrespective of everything, I feel sad at the hate the studio has received. Gaming would be a poorer place without their peerless mastery and delivery of some of the best adventure games ever made. I think we should be grateful for that and criticism should be respectful and constructive in the spirit of appreciation for what they’ve done.

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Pays Tribute to Some of PlayStation's Greats

To the people hating on Naughty dog for this game: It’s fine to express that the LOU remake is not for you, but I’m disgusted with the gaming community on how they’ve railed against this company. The company who’ve blessed us with some of the finest, most absorbing games ever created. And we turn around & ***** on them at the first opportunity? They’re releasing this for the PC market and players who haven’t played it yet. The upgrades are beautiful - they’re not forcing you to buy it, it’s there if you want it. If not, replay it on the PS4. They can hardly sell the PC version for full price, but give it to PS gamers for half price just in case you’ve played it. To the haters: be grateful Naughty dog exists & grow up. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it.

Re: Best Adventure Games on PS5

Newer games get more recognition. Ghosts of Tsushima was a good game but game for game not as good as Uncharted 4. Not that it means everything but GOT was an 83% on metacritic.

Every hardcore game collector has a nice clean OLED version in a protective case somewhere .

Love mine, most beautiful piece of hardware I’ve ever seen. To me, the design is so emblematic of everything I love about Sony & acts as a peak example of their mastery & style as a hardware designer.

Re: A Plague Tale: Requiem Infests PS5 with New Story Trailer

Very excite! Playing through the first game & its excellent, loving it. I wish there were more linear single player adventures out there but the sequel to this is looking fantastic - looks like they’re pushing the PS5 hard like they did with the original. Wonderful evocative art direction & atmosphere.

Re: Rumour: PS Now Adds The Last of Us 2, Fallout 76, and Final Fantasy VIII

@ATaco definitely, it’s happening and will be sub 1 frame one day. And then sub 1ms eventually. They’re definitely doing the right thing with psnow, it can only get better. I’m a physical collector so it’s a bummer, yes. But as long as the games don’t disappear from the streaming lineup I guess I’m ok with it. Just as long as they keep the libraries permanent.
