@ShogunRok I refuse to pretend that history is false. @xMEADx Again, this is nothing new. Walkthroughs have been around since before games had stories. You're pretending that facts don't exist.
@tonyp1987 Nothing I've seen makes it seem "alive" any more than any other open world game.

It's inconsistent and unrealistic.
Enemies everywhere with weapons, but who were they fighting? You seem to be the only one. Why don't the weapons break for them?
Zelda has exactly two "open world" games, and the first is hardly 'alive'.
If you like the new game, great. Just don't act like it's anything new. "This game should copy a copy of a copy" is silly.
Oh, and it's hard to respect the opinion of someone with that avatar. Says a lot about you and your tastes.

Roman Polanski was a wanted man and still won awards.

Don't treat celebrities like they're special in some way. Speech has consequences. Not legal ones, but otherwise everyone is fair game
@Ralizah all art has always been political.

@naut those were not facts. They were "alternative facts".
@Gold_Ranger Jon compared immigration to the invasion of Tibet.
He made numerous easily disproven claims which he'd brought up before on Twitter, and linked to in the non-apology video.
@starman292 so he's not a hateful racist, just a regular racist?
@AlwaysGreener he didn't apologise.
He said he could have been "easily misconstrued" he still believes the things he said.
He still gave an interview to Brietbart.
@finalstan I only went with Yennifer (only sensible choice having only read the books) and the scenes were perfectly in line with what I expected. Over-the-top and probably physically uncomfortable for Geralt. That's already canon by book 2 if not 1 (I don't remember which "the last wish" is)
@Godsent @Mega-Gazz
Like I said, I just don't like the combat or gameplay loop.
I was just standing in place most of the time while I got rushed like Serious Sam. Occasionally drop an AoE, move out of one...
I cranked it up as far as I could, but I got bored before I started the expansion! I started that hoping something new would happen but it was just more of the same.
If you like it, cool, but to me it felt like I was playing DnD against myself with RNG baddies and little to no context. Throwing dice against dice until the dice beat the dice because the previous dice made my dice better.
"you really have to min-max your build..." so I guess it's more Pathfinder than DnD. Still just numbers at numbers to get numbers so you can throw bigger numbers at the numbers...
I, personally, want to be more involved in the combat. I don't find throwing numbers at numbers very interesting.
Just thinking about it, I've decided I'm not going to try play Neverwinter Nights again. Similar thing. Click on enemy. Sometimes click some special thing. Mostly wait and pray.
I either want strategy or something more dynamic.
Again, I just got really bored, and didn't care. I didn't unlock higher difficulties, and was super annoyed that I even had to. It's so dang easy and boring and you expect me to play it again, Blizzard???
Nah.
Walk forward. Hold attack. Press face buttons sometimes. Walk forward...
Waste of a decent story and great voice acting, imo.
If this story were married to the Dark Souls et al combat system it would be great. A story that makes sense and combat that involves more than holding a trigger and sometimes tapping face buttons.
@BAMozzy "Do I go left, or right?" Or up, or down, or in the door that connects to an entirely different area, that connects to others and back again... there are many ways to work within movement on a 2D plane.
I personally prefer more linear sidescrollers or top- down for more open games, but it can be done.
@BAMozzy Metroid et al are arguably open world in many ways. I personally find them boring as you inevitably do a ton of backtracking, but you still do have choices as to what you do in those big mazes. Less of a promlem in top down games, the original example is, of course, The Legend of Zelda.
Pixel art can be beautiful, too. Things don't need to be realistic and high-res to be beautiful. See also: impressionism.
Design is always more important than graphical detail. I loved the visuals in that game, and Photo Mode was a smart addition.
It's beautiful enough that I collected every vessel and flower, and encountered nearly every machine area. This is in spite of finding the writing meh. Story is good, writing is blahblahblah, combat is great (if repetitive. Needed more enemy types for the varied environs), visuals are stunning. The colours, the views from atop... anything! If you just wanna look at pretty things, but don't mind shooting robots, get it for that alone!
I beat it, and sold it. I'm glad I played it. I wish more people were critical of how expository the dialogue is, because I want the sequel to be more subtle and weave the story into the game more.
@Tasuki shrug Random drops and levelling are fun, but ef that's all there is it's not for me. I also never felt challenged. I died maybe 5 times.
The enemies just rush as you and you just stand there and and hope the attrition is in your favor. I wish the enemies has more interesting patterns, the combat were more than holding a button and waiting to push more buttons...
It's fine, I guess, but I liked Torchlight 2 more, and found that rather tedious for the same reasons. There was more depth to the character advancement. Still basically throwin numbers at numbers.
I listen to podcasts and grind my characters up in SW4-IIik Survival mode, but that's so I can have that done weth and crank the difficulty up in Story Mode and not worry about drops and advancement.
I like random loot. I've sunk over 1000hrs into Borderlands games. Probably close to 2000, steam doesn't log offline. But there's more to Borderlands combat than Diablo.
I'm not knocking people who like it. I like Daggerfall, so I know there's no accounting for taste. All.I'm saying is I need more dynamic combat to hold my interest, so I won't pick it back up, even for coop.
Serious question:
Is this game fun co-op?
I beat the main campaign solo in a couple days and it amounted to holding a button, spinning around, pressing other buttons from time to time, occasionally flicking the other stick.
I cranked the difficulty as high as I could and it was still silly easy.
The story was OK, I guess...
I just felt like I was throwing numbers at numbers to make my numbers go up so my numbers would be bigger than their numbers.
I sold it and bought Dynasty Warriors 8 (which I later sold for Samurai Warriors 4 II, I like the faster pace).
Neither are super sophisticated experiences, really. I just don't get why Diablo has this huge following but Warriors games get pooped on.
Victor Vran was much more fun than Diablo III (great solo, more dynamic combat, actual 3D environments), and that was on my potato computer. Really looking forward to the PS4 version.
@hadlee73 Morrowind.
It's old. It's janky and dated.
Touch it up with some fixes and aesthetic mods, use OpenMW instead of Bethesda's engine. The things you're fetching begin to be clues, or are hilarious.
"Go get me some sload soap!" You can either spend hours looking for sloads and hope they drop it (common), or... go down the street and buy some. The Telvanni quests are all utterly bizarre.
Get it cheap. Give it a few hours to adjust to the way it looks (though it can look great with mods) and feels.
If you can get used to the mechanics and text based nature of many of the interactions, it's amazing.
If you can't, I understand.
@b1ackjack_ps I'm glad to see someone else talking about the actual gameplay.
No one talks about that, especially fans, because it's awful.
I don't get it. I hated talking to people in HZD, but I could just tap X, and get back to the good part.
I couldn't skip the combat in BioWare games, so I deleted it.
@get2sammyb A: once it's quoted, they can't fix their error.
B: "hard-on" is far more explicit than any word for buttocks, which I was rightly reprimanded for using.
You really need to get specific about what language you consider inappropriate, because the line is really unclear, and different words are considered worse in different English-speaking countries.
Something the coverage of this game has done that's positive: it's made me want to play Oblivion.
Yeah, it's broken and ugly, but there's at least freedom, and you don't have to try to mess around with party AI.
No, I won't be able to take it seriously.
I'm just not in the mood for Daggerfall right now.
@get2sammyb your use of language, asterisks or no, is a perfect example of a double standard. That is to say, hypocrisy. I didn't quote you so you can edit.
@johncalmc do you agree with me that BioWare should stop putting combat in their games? They're not good at it, and they don't care about it. They could put that time into.more story, cut out the stupid sidequests...
I might have gotten past the intro in more of their games if I didn't have to deal with their awful combat.
@ShogunRok I've seen Oblivion's levelling system. I've seen the conversation minigame. I've seen what's behind Oblivion Gates. I don't want to put money or time into Oblivion. I'd spend two weeks modding the thing alone! Keep in mind, i'm OK with unmodded Morrowind and Daggerfall.
Why should we consider giving BioWare and EA our money when they don't even care about... anything? Bad writing, bad animations, bad UI, bad AI, bad quests and quest structure...
You can't patch these things. Everything we've seen, from HOURS of gameplay is atrocious.

They're not good at it, and they don't care about it. They could put that time into.more story, cut out the stupid sidequests...
I might have gotten past the intro in more of their games if I didn't have to deal with their awful combat.
Re: No, Mass Effect: Andromeda's Questionable Animations Aren't Being Patched
When "similar face" in a FromSoftware game gets more realistic results...
I genuinely feel bad for the BioWare fans. It doesn't look like it'll even deliver on what they like: characters to talk to.
I've never liked their games, so for me it's just "well, this one looks exactly like they've all felt for me: a total mess".
Re: Blast Off with 40 Minutes of Mass Effect: Andromeda PS4 Pro Gameplay
