Ah, so you're eager to bang some aliens, eh? Staples of any good Mass Effect title, relationships and romance make a return in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Whether you choose to play as male or female Ryder, there are several potential love interests for you to peruse. In this guide, we'll be detailing all of your romantic options and how you can start relationships with your favourite characters.
First, though, let's go over the basics. There are three different types of characters you can romance in Mass Effect: Andromeda: squadmates, crew members, and others.
- Squadmates are characters that you can take on missions with you. You'll need to flirt with them, talk with them as the game progresses, and eventually complete their loyalty mission in order to begin a relationship.
- Crew members are characters who are part of the Tempest crew, but can't be taken on missions. Flirt and talk with these characters and you'll eventually be able to enter a relationship with them.
- Others are characters who appear outside of the Tempest. You can romance them by following their individual quests and flirting along the way.
It's also important to note that Ryder's sex dictates who you can and can't start a relationship with. Some characters will only be interested in male Ryder, while others will only react to female Ryder. A handful of characters can be romanced by both male and female Ryder.

Must be where the animation budget went...
@BLP_Software Nah it... It couldn't have. Some of the romance scenes are... Awkward to say the least.
I mean, I really hope this isn't where the animation budget went.
@ShogunRok I really hope so too! Otherwise I worry for the team's priorities.
That said they were bragging about great romance scenes before launch so...
....
....This might be where the budget went....
The fact that Cora is not an option for female Ryder makes me even less inclined to try the game
As awkward as Witcher 3?
Do they close their horrible dead eyes during these scenes because that would definitely be a good thing?
@DualWielding Yeah it's a bit... Disappointing. Oh well!
With those animations? no thanks.
In ME2 I was trying to get with Miranda but somehow made her mad so I had to settle for Jack. I thought it was pretty fun that disagreeing with Miranda ONE TIME was enough to ruin our entire relationship.
@ApostateMage Depends who you romance - some characters don't quite have dead eyes to begin with.
Not most, but some...
@shogunrok @get2sammyb Can you be a serial philanderer like good ol' Geralt? Or will it have a detrimental effect on how your story progresses? I think it's going to be hilarious to watch if it encounters some of the bugs I've seen on YouTube. Just a head having "fun" in the bedroom lol. Ragdoll effects a'la fifty shades hahaha. Bring it on.
@blakey78 Some characters won't mind if you see other people, some, as far as I know, will make you pick one or the other. I'll try to update this guide if I can find concrete answers on every character.
@finalstan I only went with Yennifer (only sensible choice having only read the books) and the scenes were perfectly in line with what I expected.
Over-the-top and probably physically uncomfortable for Geralt. That's already canon by book 2 if not 1 (I don't remember which "the last wish" is)
@TheGZeus I think it's the second book, and my favourite story out of all across the first two books. Anyway, I got off with everyone I could (give Geralt a break and some fun) and then was a bit surprised when it didn't quite look like what it was supposed to. Not sure how much Geralt enjoyed that in the end; you can't have everything I guess.
@get2sammyb Can't wait to get romancing lol!
I hope no celeries were harmed in the making of ME Andromeda romantic scenes.
Where is my Krogan Love!?
I imagine it to be like Iron Bull from Inquisition.
A Turian female?
Sounds…well…err…
Asari I get, Samara and Liara in the first 3 were designed to be smokin hotties, but Asari seemed like quite sexual beings also.
Maybe even a Quarian with their seemingly trim physiques but Turian is a face only a mother could love.
