I agree that Ashe is really the main character. I still remember somewhat what happened with her storyline towards the end of the game. However for Vaan and Penello I remember nothing. They were there I guess?
@pharos_haven Totally get that. I have serious open world fatigue. In actual fact I was never ther biggest fan of them and only a few open world games keep me interested until completion. Wide linear is my preference. It always has been.
@kyleforrester87 I do like dark fantasy, but those games just didn't do it for me. I tried all From Software games since Demon's Souls, apart from Sekiro. I agree with you that Skyrim > Fallout. But again, it's all personal preferences.
@Ear_wiG Yeah, it has always looked a lot more up my alley. But I kept postponing, never tried it, then Ghost of Tsushima came out and sated my itch for a samurai type of game. Currently doing a Master's which leaves me with limited time for gaming, but will definitely consider giving it a go once I'm done. Thank you.
@kyleforrester87 That's the thing though, to me they are very different games. BB is fast paced, fluid, aggressive. And the HP Lovecraft heavily inspired thematic appealed right to the heart of me. DS is slower and more defensive, Elden Ring is all of that in an open world setting, which only compounds the problems for me. Not saying the other games are bad, just saying that personally BB rocks my boat and is my jam. Ahah.
There's only one game from this company that I have actually enjoyed and finished and that's Bloodborne. Can't say I'm too excited at anything they announce.
I bought Demon's Souls with little knowledge of what it truly was when it first came out and disliked it. Tried DS1 and DS2 and disliked them. Bought Bloodborne with a decent grasp of what it was and loved it. Tried DS3, disliked it. Tried Elden Ring, really disliked it.
As with their previous games, I'll have to see it and try it before making any purchase decision, as I'm more likely than not to dislike what comes out.
I like Don't Nod as they make interesting, unique games that have a feel all their own. However, they are generally not fully realised or engaging. Remember Me had limited gameplay, the Life is Strange sequels don't measure up to the original, etc. If they can go the extra mile for that upcoming RPG, they have the potential to create an IP with strong staying power, I believe.
Andy Robinson was wrong though. It absolutely wasn't Sony at the peak of its power, as it was coming out of a difficult console generation for them. It was through the sheer creativity of all of its software developers, that were pumping out good quality games to make up for all the blunders that Sony made with the PS3, that that console generation didn't end up being the death knell for PlayStation. And thus we could say that Sony at that point was certainly re-ascending (let's not forget the absolute domination that the PS2 era was), but was most definitely not at its peak.
They're really not going to kill Aerith are they? I bought Remake but will not buy the other 2 parts until I know for a fact that they haven't changed that bit. Removing that kind of impactful event from a story removes all associated meaning. And I'm not here for a sterilisation of stories and lore.
The Last Guardian was somewhat disappointing to me. However the pedigree of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus is such that I am more than happy to support Ueda with whatever he's doing next.
Most people here are missing the point of the article. Granted it's titled in such a way that makes it very clickbait-y (shame on you Push Square). But as is mentioned in the article's last paragraph, what is more TV show like is the approach to making the game, not how the game is going to be presented to the players when it's done.
It remains the same game at its heart: a white straight male geared fantasy with tank-like controls for the main character and cumbersome map and menu systems. Didn't like it then, don't like it now.
Yeah, the demo gave me the same vibe that this review ends up getting to. I was intrigued initially but apart from the combat little else makes this game interesting. It's a pass from me.
I absolutely loved the original Dead Space, but I'm not impressed by these screenshots. My mind is very much on The Callisto Protocol at the moment and thus immediately compare it to that. I might have to wait for a discount before I get the DS remake, if my opinion doesn't change as more screenshots and trailers start coming out in the next few weeks.
I've been using this feature for a while now. I quite like it because it allows me to easily keep track of the games I will more than likely purchase and what updates come out for them before release. However, apart from that, it's a pointless feature without a gifting feature. Why wishlist something if no one else can see it or buy it for me as a gift or a present?
Sony is encouraging people to use the wishlist because it allows them to gauge interest in the games announced for the console. Statistics and economics.
Really liking the changes they've made to the triangle button and the shield mechanics. I platinumed GoW 2018 on Hard mode (that Sigrun fight took me 4 days!) and expect to like this one as much as the previous GoW. Here's to hoping!
@Deityjester And Sony is entitled to fight back with whatever strategies they come up that don't involve deep pockets of money. We'll be going round and round needlessly. The point here is that they're both companies defending their interests and they will do whatever is necessary to protect their business operations. Whether people like the gatekeeping or not, it's how competition works in a consolidating market.
Microsoft buys out a huge chunk of the market and Sony is entitled to use whatever strategy they deem appropriate to make up for that. I don't see a problem here, especially when Sony is mostly a creator and Microsoft entered the business and continues to exist in the business through the buying out of the competition and the throwing of large quantities of money at whatever obstacles are in their way. Microsoft is just using the opportunity to bad mouth Sony for keeping away from Game Pass some games they would like to add onto the service. I certainly hope the Square Enix purchase by Sony comes through.
Interesting that both Nintendo and Xbox amassed more viewers with their digital shows than PlayStation did, yet last generation's market leader was PS. While the jury is still out for this generation, the demand for PS5 remains incredibly high still. I wonder why PlayStation's popularity doesn't correlate with a higher number of viewers for its digital showcases.
The soundtrack and the fighting system are great. The soundtrack especially is one of the best any game has ever had. Everything else is absolutely dreadful. The story is barely cohesive, incomplete without DLCs and doesn't earn its biggest moments, the lore is not only terribly presented and explained but also cut up into different products you need to buy (such as an anime series and a movie prequel), the open world feels limited and prescribed. It's the worst FF game in recent memory and that's saying something when FF13 also exists. Hopefully FF16 marks the dawn of the return of good FF games.
@Nem Absolutely. Shining Force's world and lore are absolutely a delight and the gameplay is, to me, a lot more fun and straightforward. The 3 scenarios in one and released in the West would be a great way to revive the series. And then get a team that understands Shining Force to make a gorgeous AAA sequel.
Everything in my life will take a back seat to this game when it comes out. It's been 16 years since the release of the last FF that I thought was a worthy entry to the series. I'm not interested in the multiplayer entries and both FF13 and FF15 left me with a terribly sour taste in my mouth. It's been far too long. However I feel FF16 will hit the sweet spot between the old and the new. May it be so.
I would have preferred they left the Concrete Genie banner in. That was a game I finished and thoroughly enjoyed, whereas Death Stranding I abandoned and have little desire to go back to. I understand in general it has sold more and has left a mark in more people's minds, but it's very much not to my liking.

Re: Random: The Last of Us Is Finally an FPS in Jaw-Dropping PC Mod
Seeing as I only like a very short few FPS games, it's a no from me. Keep it third person thank you very much.

Far Zeta? Have you guys actually played the game or know the lore?
Re: State of Play Showcase Set for Thursday, Final Fantasy 16 the Focus
Not going to watch. I know enough about the game to get it day 1 and I want to go in knowing as little as possible.

Leave SH2 alone. Either create a new SH from scratch or leave the series be. A remake of 2 will more than likely not do it justice.
