Those who have pre-ordered Horizon Forbidden West DLC Burning Shores can now start downloading the expansion in preparation for Wednesday's launch on PS5. As long as you pre-ordered via the PS Store, the pre-load should activate automatically; your console may have already got it stored after downloading the DLC overnight. How large Burning Shores is depends on what region you're from, but generally, it's just shy of 17GB.
While Sony has left much of this Horizon Forbidden West expansion to assumption, last week's launch trailer at least gave us our best look yet at the DLC. We saw Aloy wield Far Zenith weaponry, meet up with her new ally Seyka, and perform a few more tricks aboard her flying mount, the Sunwing.
There's still time to pre-order the Burning Shores DLC on the PS Store, which will net you a few pre-order bonuses and the pre-load in question. It costs £15.99/$19.99, but don't forget you must beat the base game first in order to unlock access to Burning Shores. Have you done so yet? Let us know in the comments below.

Probably pick this up at some point, although i didnt enjoy the 2nd game as much for some reason, might even do a 2nd playthrough first see how it goes. Hopefully be a good dlc
I didn’t enjoy Forbidden West at first. I think it was the proximity to Elden Ring. However, for some reason this DLC cannot come fast enough as I’m very eager to jump back in. Cleared out space and am ready to explore the shores!

Just started the base game..very good visuals and great combat. It sticks to a classic open world game formula but i'm ok with that.
When is the review embargo up for this expansion?

Excited to see the new Horizon 2 patch that will come for sure with the dlc and if they cart over the new cloud system to the base game.
It will be great to jump back into this again. I got my platinum and have never been back, but I'll relish the chance to get lost in this fantastic world again.
Do DLC's that you have pre ordered automatically download in advance if you leave your console in rest mode? Its rare for me to preorder so I have no experience of this!

@Daleaf despite the game improving almost everything imo for me, HFW had issues with combat and its story. Maybe I just needed more Sylens.
I preordered the DLC and am hoping that a tighter smaller story will be just right for Aloy.
Already got it downloaded. Very hyped and i'm excited to see what the game can do free from the limits of the PS4.

@Daleaf I too did not enjoy the 2nd game as much, but I am currently on a NG+ and I am enjoying it a lot more.
@koffing @ZeD yea think i need to give it another playthrough, might have been the hype for it at the time. It was definetaly better in most areas than the first exept for story imo.
But still looking forward to the dlc, will give it go when im in the proper mood, maybe winter when weather is misrable again and in mood for big open world game. Also might be a bit of burn out on open world games, had exactly the same with hogwarts, got bored in the end.
I may or may not be done with Resident Evil 4 in time to play this right away, but I will still download it whenever I get on my PS5 later. Horizon Forbidden West is still my favorite game of this console generation so far, so I'm psyched to play Burning Shores whenever I am able to of course.
Gonna download the game and the DLC later today. For sure one of the best games of this new generation. A real show stopper in every way. I trully love this world, and will take every chance to dive into it again.
Even though I have HFW in my library from launch I’m going to utilise the PS Extra version seeing as it’s not likely to be taken off anytime soon. I’m assuming my old save file from my platinum run will work with it. 🤷♂️

I'm going to play the whole game again as I didn't get the platinum the first time around and I also can't remember how to play the game or do anything in it at all.
I put close to 200 hours into my playthrough, super excited for Burning Shores. Mine didn't preload though, I had to manually download it. I've been having issues with this lately even with the auto-download checked and staying in rest mode.
Wow, 17GB for a DLC?! That's massive. I'd really like to know if the DLC adds anything to the base game BEFORE you beat it, because it might make sense to just leave the DLC uninstalled until close to finishing.

I just want to know how many new machines there are. On HZD dlc, they only added 3, and two of them were basically the same.

I started HFW just last week and thought I will just focus on the main quests but I am enjoying the game too much and find myself going after all the side quests and strike games etc lol
@Mikey856 just pressed the options button while hovering over the game for manage game content, still nothing. When go to its actual pre order page just says 1day 8hours 29mins. It's all ready to go for the auto download but still nothing yet
Left it on this morning before heading to work, said it was on the download list... almost here, cleared my schedule for the weekend.
I won't be playing Burning Shores at release sadly, still need to start playing Forbidden West.
@Beerheadgamer82 hmmm that’s odd. Tell you what I did. I preordered burning shores, then went into plus extra and clicked download on tbe ps5 version of HFW and it appeared straight off, full game download and burning shores was there just below it. Try that bro good luck

I made my purchase on my console.
I'll get around to this at some point. Likely when it's on sale. The base game was absolutely GORGEOUS with tons to do in it, but for whatever reason, I just wasn't blown away with it like so many others seem to be. I thought it was good but not great. And after 2 hours into the story I was button mashing through the dialogue like I was in a hack n' slash.

I have left it on rest mode so will download once they've fixed.
I sold my copy of HFW so I’ll have to get a month PS+ sub before I purchase the dlc. Looking forward to it even though I didn’t love the direction they went in HFW.
Still have PS4, so I'll miss this. Guess I'll just watch gameplay for a while

@KaijuKaiser they would like you to think you're in the minority but you're not trust me. i've seen plenty of people that said they lost interest in elden ring after a while as well.

Same here. Automatic download didn't work. I did it manually. Press the options button on the game tile and go to "Manage content".
