My friends all play PS5. We have many games we enjoy on the Sony platform. I have a lot of PC games I would love to play with them, but they are resistant to do PC gaming. Something like this could allow them to join me in the PC games, while still enjoying our home on PS5.
I am personally excited for this aspect. But I see it as complimentary to the PS5 environment, not really a one or another kind of competition.
Most week nights I enjoy mindless gaming with my friends and co-workers to end the day. That used to be CoD...but that sucked and just put me to bed angry. This game was a great alternative. I welcome more virtual cleaning while in my not so clean man cave.
My kids have always enjoyed this series and we've always played together. So I get excited when a new trailer drops so I can share with them and get them hyped to play together.
This has been the way for over a decade. I wouldn't be as invested if not for the kids. I imagine that is pretty common.
I can't justify $700 for something I already have...But, I can justify getting my son a used PS5 (my current one) for $700. There...wallet guilt is erased. Bring the Pro.
SoT is my night time hang out with buddies game. I'm still neck deep in FF7:RB and other games have my attention. But for a few hours now and then, it's been a good time with friends. Decent game, but definitely is a social experience.
This generation has been all about load times for me and I love it so much. I'm not really all in on graphics, but I'll end up buying the Pro at launch.
Wow, a lot of hate for SoT? I played in on PC and it was so much fun with my friends, but pretty empty. Its been years, and my new gaming crowd is PS only. I would love to put a week or two with them in this game and check out all they've added since the beginning.
I work in IT and no matter what technology or process I implement, an end user will always be an uncontrollable weak link. I feel bad for all involved and hope for the worst to the culprits.
I'm definitely part of the problem. My friends bought it, so I bought it, and I will play MP for the next 6-9 months. I will admit the MW2 maps were a huge pull for me. I'll probably hate myself for it, but it's almost become routine.
I tier'd down with my renewal. I'm so far behind that the 2nd tier is awesome for me. So many games I wanted to play, but didn't have time, I now get to play for "free". Even with the hike, it's more than worth it to me. I never stream or touch the classics, so I was going to go down a level anyway.
This is our reality...everything is going up...except wages.
@Bunchesopuppies I love this game, but I keep finding myself wanting to spend more time on Wheels. Why is that minigame so addicting? Man I love this whole package.
I grew up and got a cash allowance. My kids get Robux. For a free game, it gives kids a lot of options, so I don't mind throwing some cash for some silly items.
There are some concerns about some of the content, but I also keep close tabs, and there is some quality stuff on there. My son is even learning how to program in Roblox. Believe me, the popular games are not created by children, it's all Lua based and takes some skill.
If it came to PS, I would probably join my son more often in some games.
It needs more games, but I'm having a blast. I spend a lot of time in VR. I don't recommend it for my friends, as it doesn't fit their budget or gaming needs. But for me and my tastes, I love it, and have hopes for future content.
Bring on Firewall, so I can start that addiction all over again. (And give me Diner Duo...PLEASE!!!)
I don't do scary. I played Help Wanted for my kids. It gave me soo much dread. Not really the jump scares, but just the atmosphere. I hated it and I cannot wait for Help Wanted 2.
It's amazing how VR online communities are generally very friendly. I don't know if it's an older crowd, or people behave when you can see a representation of a real person.
Have had some great interactions with this game.
I played a good bit of Firewall on PSVR, and the game was fun, but the community was the best. Something about the VR environment, made people seemingly so much more patient and kind. A good chunk of my friends list is made of people I met in Firewall.
I want them to take Call of Duty away dammit! Every year I buy it, every year it pisses me off, and somehow it gets worse every year. I need my ability to make it a yearly purchase taken away from me. I have no impulse control.
To me, I felt it was a little rushed. But I asked my wife and daughter, who have never played the games and are going into this fresh, and they said it was awesome.
So I enjoyed it, but the game definitely draws it out more, and that is what is burned into my mind. But if my girls say it packed the punch, then I say they are doing a great job.
When I jumped on a night time ride in Norway with the light house in the distance, that's when I remembered why I love VR. Man, that took me on a trip and made me feel a sense of peace.
Is it much of a game, no, but it's worth it to me as an experience.
Mine arrives tomorrow. I love VR and never had an issue with motion sickness. I am nervous because I have nystagmus which is involuntary eye movement. Doesn't really mess with my vision, but if something is tracking my eye movement, it'll be interesting to see if it has any negative effects.
I gave it a 7 and that's not a bad thing. The environments, details, and atmosphere are top notch, but I'm not a fan of the story, acting, collection quests, or combat.
I speed through dialogue and enjoy the exploration. I will definitely not be 100% the game as the icons of everything available are overwhelming.
Again, not a bad score, just a personal one. I don't regret buying it, and will put hours into it, but more of an experience for me rather than a game.
I'm an old fart, played FF7 when it launched in highschool multiple times, and a few more as an adult. They nailed the environments and the characters. They can do what they want with the story. All I ever wanted was the world to feel and the characters to act like they did in my head so many years ago.
I like how the story is going and the questions I have. If it was a 100% retelling, I would have been excited still, but I definitely dig having some mysteries to experience.
Also, if you want a good understanding of the FF7R, it can be tricky, check out Maximillian Dood's breakdowns on YouTube. He's helped confirmed some theories I had and really put the path clear in my head.
@Jayslow Damn, good point. Oh well, I can dream. Might have to try and fire that game up again. Maybe someone will make a similar VR game...drawing the magic spells would be awesome in VR, and maybe even flinging unruly citizens out of the world.
@KaijuKaiser VR is different for everyone. You have to try it to know how it works with you. When I first got PSVR, I would need breaks after 30-45 minutes. After a while, I could get lost for hours with no side effects.
Now some of my buddies get headaches after 15, and some are so sick after 5 minutes, they'll never touch it again.
It makes VR tricky, because you truly do have to "see to believe" and find out how your body holds up. I hope it works for you...it's incredible fun for me.
I use Twitter as a read only media. Sports, games, etc...it has become a quick source of news. I've run across Nibel's account many times. Sad to see him go, but on to better things.
I like Boog. He was good as a Braves' announcer back in the day, and I think he's done great on the national level. The commentary needed a refresh, so I like this direction.
@PegasusActual93 Isn't Sony the only one with a physical copy? If so, avoiding the rating makes sense. I don't like censorship, but I'm also not this game's target audience, so it's a complete non issue. But it is damn good free marketing for the dev.
I think Bungie is more than Destiny, and I guess Sony does too.
What do I think? I think when you start talking about silly dollar amounts, I lose any way to relate or have an informed opinion. Trying to comprehend billions of dollars might as well be a gazillion...it's pure fantasy to my mind.
Backlog. I just beat Uncharted 3 and 4 for the first time about 2 months ago. Then this is announced. I'd love it, but it's still too fresh in my mind to pay and play it again so soon.
But loved it, and will probably get this when I get the urge to revisit it.
I bought it, I know it's a cluster, but I'll ride it out. I'm not giving them a pass, but I have no will power, so I'm not the best for voting with my money. It's the first modern BF in a while, so I was always going to cave.
My PC is for survival games, older games with some quality of life mods, and Microsoft games. My PS5 is still the place for getting with my console friends and most other games, especially newer releases. It's honestly just a good time to be a gamer!
The beta was buggy, but I love me some modern Battlefield. I've needed this since I skipped BF5. I am waiting until the 19th as I pre-ordered the standard version, but I know I'll get my money's worth. Hell I still play BF4 now and then.
I have the PS4 disc version, but never played it. Loaned it to a friend, so I'm just going to buy the full game again on PS5 digital instead of waiting. I'm now in the mood for this type of game, so it'll be a good time.
I usually get over a years worth of great fun out of Battlefield. I'm alright paying $120 or so. But I always pay for passes as I go, because if my buddies bail out...then there's no more reason for me to play.

Re: Talking Point: Is 2024 Too Soon for PS5 Pro?
I don't think there will be a Pro, but if there is, I will get it. Especially if they tell me it would somehow improve PSVR2 even more.
But I'm a sucker for shiny new tech, and I've accepted that.
My hope is that PS6 will be '27 or '28. Bring me the stability generation where we get to run the pretty graphics with fast frame rates.
