I really like the dark tone of the trailer and the apparent quality of the storytelling on display. But the absence of gameplay footage really bothers me. Still, given Respawn’s history, I’m choosing to remain upbeat. Getting a high quality Star Wars game would be a great way to end the year.
I really enjoy city builders, so I’m genuinely eager give this game a shot. But “dark strategy” definitely seems to be the best way to describe it. Looking over the reviews on Steam, apparently this isn’t a relaxing outing. It’s intense and, at times, stressful, but also really compelling. Sounds worthwhile.
I preordered. Even if I just get several hours of single player vehicular mayhem out of this, I’ll be happy. I really wanted to support the developer, and arcade racers in general.
It looks like it follows in the footsteps of the Left 4 Dead titles, games that I’m a pretty big fan of. It honestly looks promising, though I think its success could very well be muted by it releasing so close to Days Gone. Still, I’m thinking I might grab a copy.
Like others that have commented have already said, developments like this are one of the primary reasons I’ve mostly stuck with single player gaming over the last several years. If you invest in something that multiplayer centric and the support is suddenly pulled, you’re left with nothing. Personally, I think it’s a poor move by Sony. I don’t think most mutliplayer titles should lose server support until the next generation’s console comes into play.
I’m happy. I was honestly intrigued by Conan Exiles back when it released, but never got around to purchasing it. I’m glad I’ll get to give it a shot next month. It sounds like it can be pretty rewarding, once you push past the learning curve.
I’m truly glad to see these efforts at inclusion. I’m also happy to hear about another developer devoting time to mental illness. Ninja Theory did an outstanding job in their handling of the subject with Hellblade. It’s good news that they aren’t the only studio willing to do so.
I was a fan of the original game. I’m excited for the sequel.
I have no doubt that ultimately streaming will play a significant role in gaming, but I’m doubtful that the traditional model that we’re accustomed to is going to vanish anytime soon, if at all. Ultimately, I think the technology will fall into place to make it viable in many markets, but like all of the concerns voiced here, I’m not sure that all consumers are going to be willing to buy in to the new service. Realistically, I think it will be an option, not a replacement, at least for many years to come. That said, I for one wouldn’t want Google’s version of gaming in my home. Not in light of some of their questionable buisiness practices.
I can’t deny some of the criticisms of RICO. The levels are just about as “generic drug lord hideout” as you can get. That said, for a fast, intense FPS fix it’s actually quite fun.
It sounds like what really kills it is the empty world. When you look at the other open world titles available on PS4, something like this is really going to suffer in comparison.
@Quintumply Out of curiosity, how long did a playthrough take? This almost sounds like a game you might want to complete multiple times to see everything it offers.
I feel like I’ve had a steady diet of open world games of late, but I have to admit I’m genuinely excited for this one. Here’s hoping it lives up to expectations.
Back when it was first announced, I had high hopes that this game would carry on the tradition of the Left 4 Dead titles. But once I got word of the response to the PC version, I lost interest. Both players and critics were fairly unified about how low quality it was. A shame. But, at least we have Days Gone to look forward to.
Some of BioWare’s RPGs from their glory days remain some of my favorite games of all time. But projects like this make it seem as though the studio has really lost its way. Here’s hoping that they return to their roots with the next Dragon Age and put together something worthy of their previous successes.
I actually got a copy of Odyssey in January. I’m still working my way through my first run with RDR2, but the more I hear about this game, the more I want to jump in. It sounds amazing.
I enjoyed my time with FC5, but never really got excited about this iteration. I’ll probably pick it up on sale at some point. In the meantime, I’ve got FC3 Classic if I need an open world FPS fix.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 265
Red Dead Redemption 2. Still totally entranced by it. Might also start up Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a game I’ve put off playing for way too long.

The Sinking City and MLB 19. Madness and baseball.
