Re: Feature: PS5 Price - Why Does It Cost So Much in 2026?

Rodimusprime13

Sony is definitely making a reasonable profit on each ps5 sold in my opinion. Sony could easily drop prices or keep them where they were buy Sony needs to make as much off the ps5 as possible for some reason. The other problem is that with the price hikes few gamers are going to rush to upgrade and they will just stick with what they have if it's the ps4 or the base ps5. Anyone who bought the ps5 pro is unlikely to upgrade even when the ps6 actually launches unless they have money to burn. Perhaps I'm wrong but this is my opinion.

Re: If You're Playing Final Fantasy Games on PS5, There's a Good Chance You're Old

Rodimusprime13

Much of the problem is that SE shifted toward the online FF games with FF 11 then with FF 14. The online games should have been separate games not connected to the main line games. My opinion is most of the original games appeal to nostalgia rather than they are these amazing games in their own right. The pixel remasters were released on the NES and SNES. FF 7-9 were originally released for the ps1 and FF 10 and 12 were ps2 titles. I personally am more interested in the Dragon Quest game along with the Tales of Series over the Final Fantasy games after 13.

Re: Sony Goes Silent on Social Media for Over 72 Hours as Fans Turn Feral Following Bluepoint Closure

Rodimusprime13

Sony seems to be focusing heavily on cutting costs even if it's hurting their game output. MS has released more games recently for the Playstation than Sony has. I suspect much of the frustration is because it shows that Sony has zero interest in porting classic titles to modern consoles. It might mean that no more classic games with be added to the premium tier of ps+.

Re: Opinion: Sony's Disgraceful Bluepoint Closure Should Concern Every PS Studios Fan

Rodimusprime13

Sony's strategy for the ps5 games has just been terrible. Sony has a huge library of classics titles and franchises and they have only remastered or remade a handful of them since they are somehow guaranteed massive profits. Sony could make lots of new games for the ps5 but Sony doesn't want to spend the money making the games. My opinion is that Neil Duckman keeps pushing bad decisions which are hurting the Playstation brand.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Action RPG Kakarot Tops a Mighty 10 Million Sales

Rodimusprime13

@AverageGamer Well none of the Kakarot DLC games have any trophies so I don't have any real desire to buy them. I personally would like to see Kakarot 2 instead of endless DLC content. I want a full game that I can platinum or 100% rather than endless DLC content. Bandi produced numerous games for the ps3/x360 but for the X1/PS4 they release one or two games then tack on more DLC. Personally I think the older games are better than what is being released now.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Action RPG Kakarot Tops a Mighty 10 Million Sales

Rodimusprime13

@AverageGamer With more game releases the older games will tend to come down in price to around $20, then you can 100% those games and move onto the next game. The DLC's often tend to be priced close to the price of a full game for only a few hours of gameplay. So yes I would rather see new games and I am personally more interested in finding the older x360/ps3 Dragon Ball games and completing them than paying for endless DLC's. I enjoyed Kakarot I found that the game underwhelming.

Re: Sony May Be 'Planning Its Entire Calendar' Around GTA 6, Says Jason Schreier

Rodimusprime13

I seriously doubt that GTA 6 will get the launch sales that GTA 5 had. And the sales will largely depend on the direction that Rockstar goes in. GTA 5 launched with a full story without any online. I highly suspect Rockstar will move towards a live service game and will focus on the multiplayer likely at the expense of the single player. And very few live service games actually charge for the game. Just my thoughts.

Re: PS5 Dominates USA and UK on Black Friday, Comfortably Outsells All Its Rivals

Rodimusprime13

@graymamba What don't you get. MS is make money on each console sold and Sony is losing money on consoles unless they are sold at full price. MS is no longer happy with small perhaps 5-10% profits from the Xbox division and now the Xbox division needs to achieve 30% profit rates. I don't want the PlayStation to disappear but without profits the PlayStation might not be around forever.

Re: Sony Estimated to Have Made $1.5 Billion from Steam, But the Novelty Is Wearing Off

Rodimusprime13

Sony's current problem is that they are only producing a handful of games than expect to continue to make tons of money from them. Like spend 1-2 million on a game that might make between 3-7 million is ok, but spending $50,000 on a game that can easily make 3-4 million and possibly more is a better bet. Sony is too focused on the Hollywood movie spending idea where lots of movie studios make big budget movies and frequently movies don't break even. Sony should have had all Sony published titles on ps+ premium on day one, and have worked towards creating remasters of the ps3 titles.

Re: Here's Why Sony Is Making a Japan-Specific PS5 Console

Rodimusprime13

Likely it's too little too late. I personally am not a fan of the Switch 2 but it's bigger advantage is that it's portable and can be played when you're taking a bus or train which can be a big benefit in Japan. Given most non Sony games are available on the Switch the ps5 is a hard sell.

Re: Another Horizon Online PS5 Game Is Coming Before Horizon 3, It's Claimed

Rodimusprime13

This is exactly what frustrates me with the Playstation this generation. Sony has made tons of classics single player games and they peaked with the ps4. Now with the ps5 Sony has little interest in making single player games and only wants live service titles. The problem with live service games is that they are time intensive and they often disappear after a while or get completely reworked often for the worse.

Re: PS5 'In the Middle' of Its Lifecycle, Claims Sony

Rodimusprime13

@REALAIS But why spend the huge amount of money on a console today when you can wait a few years and will have the best and newest console available. For the ps5 it sells for $700 to $800 plus tax which is a huge amount and of money which your almost better waiting for the ps6 and spurge on that instead. It's not a good time for a gamer to get a ps5, it's a good time for Sony for people to buy the ps5. The main drivers for people buying ps5's are games like Destiny 2, Fornite, COD, Helldivers and GTA. Outside of these titles there few must play games.

Re: PS5 'In the Middle' of Its Lifecycle, Claims Sony

Rodimusprime13

@REALAIS The prices for the consoles are lower in the states compared to anywhere else. And TV's are actually cheaper in Canada compared to the states. I highly suspect all the so called news articles that go on about how great the ps5 is doing are written by Sony. The PS4 did as well as it did because it was a huge leap from the ps3. I think that most people who want a ps5 already have one. I stand by what I said that it's a terrible time to upgrade or get a new console at the middle to late point in a console generation.

Re: PS5 'In the Middle' of Its Lifecycle, Claims Sony

Rodimusprime13

@REALAIS I seriously doubt that. The ps4 launched at a lower price and got a price drop later on. The ps4 had tons of new games but the ps5 seems to just have endless remasters of ps4 titles in my opinion. Sony is selling the ps5 at around $800 here then makes a big deal when they drop it to $750. Sony's marketing makes me think that the sales are stagnant. And Sony has always reported units shipped not units sold. Sony started doing this with the ps3 and kept doing this.

Re: PS5 'In the Middle' of Its Lifecycle, Claims Sony

Rodimusprime13

Sony is hyper focused on selling as many consoles as possible and they want to maximize the sales of the current consoles before they announce the next generation consoles. I personally find with the current generation of consoles there is little incentive to get into the new consoles when you are over half way through a generation since they stopped dropping the prices of consoles anymore. With consoles being full price from day one all the way through the generation there is little incentive to upgrade or get a better console. My opinion is that with the current prices that are sometimes more than day 1 it's almost better to wait until the next generation to upgrade. Unless you have money to burn it's better to wait in my opinion.
