Re: Ubisoft Reckons Microtransactions Make Games 'More Fun'

Rodimusprime13

Ubisoft made a handful of decent games but the micro transactions for minor cosmetic items are the worse parts. It use to be you could unlock extra content by playing the game now it pay extra for content that doesn't add anything to the game. The infamous horse armour was criticized but it added actual value, now you are paying just to change the colour of your armour.

Re: Next Tales of Remaster Announcement Confirmed for This Summer

Rodimusprime13

Very likely the most popular tales of games will be remastered first. The games I would like to play is Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Destiny 1/2 ,Tales of Xilla 1/2 and Tales of Heart. The Tales of games that were previously available on the ps3/vita psn store have been removed so all the titles that were previously available are candidates to be remastered.

Re: Poll: Do You Care About the Death of PS Stars?

Rodimusprime13

My opinion is that Sony is killing off the stars rewards program just to make it worse. I am sure numerous people remember when the digital PSN gift cards were suddenly unavailable? Likely this is what Sony wanted to actually do, but people complained too much so Sony was forced to bring back the PSN gift cards. Now Sony is ending the whole program but for some reason they are letting people keep their digital collectables, why? I suspect Sony plans to introduce the all new stars program with only digital collectables and no PSN digital gift cards.

Re: Reaction: Game Key PS5 Discs Are a Disgrace, and Sony Should Put a Stop to Them

Rodimusprime13

My opinion is that game-key discs are the worst option available and have no advantage for the gamer. If you purchase a digital title it's added to your game library and can be redownloaded at anytime. For a game-key you still need to download the title but you don't "own" the title but every time you want to play the game you need to insert the disc. I'd much rather have a digital library of games that I kind of own rather than a game-key which doesn't really give you anything.

Re: PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Are Not the Future of Gaming, Says US Analyst

Rodimusprime13

What I see is that there are more games released that ever before but more titles are released by indie developers and the established publishers tend to release few games that before. And game prices are constantly increasing so it's hard to justify buying games day 1. Sure it's always going to be better to just buy games but some games are just not worth it. I find Sony really pushes you to subscribe to ps+, if you go to buy a game that has a tiny ps+ discount it try to sell you a ps+ subscription. The same is true when you try to buy a classic ps2 title like Dark Cloud 1 or 2 on the ps4, it again tries to get you to subscribe to ps+ premium just to get temporary access rather than pay $7.50 on sale to permanently own the game.

Re: The Last of Us Is Only Getting More and More Popular

Rodimusprime13

@Daleaf I played the original game on the ps3 and didn't even bother with a second play through to get most of the trophies. I generally don't bother playing games that I don't find interesting. I don't like the From Software Dark Souls games and other From Software Dark Souls like games even though they are very popular.

Re: Switch 2 Exclusivity Concerns Surround Ys X: Proud Nordics as Plans for PS5 Are Undecided

Rodimusprime13

The exclusive deals are a big motivator even more since it a established series but is unlikely to have massive sales. So it makes sense to focus on a platform that offers an exclusive deal then consider other platforms afterwards. And various developers sometimes only offer some of their titles only on the Switch. Dragon Quest Treasures?, Switch exclusive, Mobile Suit Gundam Destiny Remastered, Switch exclusive. Civ6 launched exclusively on the Switch then came to other platforms later. It's all about how many consoles that have been sold and how many gamers are buying games. The Wii sold tons of consoles but most third party games didn't sell well.

Re: Poll: 5 Years Later, How Do You Feel About Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

Rodimusprime13

I started playing with the original FF7 on the ps1 and found the recent Final Fantasy game to be a tad depressing for my liking. I've enjoyed the titles up to the FF13 trilogy but both FF15 and FF7 remake just feel depressing in my opinion. I found the ending of both these games to be very unsatisfying and disappointing. I tried FF7 core crisis and lost interest in the game. Not particularly interesting in FF16 since I doubt I'll find it interesting. My attitude is that the new Final Fantasy game just don't have the magic they used to. The JRPG series that I am more interested in is the Tales of and Neptunia series instead.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for April 2025?

Rodimusprime13

Well there are not "free", they are basically rentals that you have as long as you keep ps+. Essential is ok, since once you claim a game you can comeback to it at anytime as long as you have a subscription. The problem with extra is that it hard to find anything good to play, then once you do it's got a good likelihood of leaving the service. Premium looks good but most of the games are often ps2 or ps3 games that have been modified to work on the ps4/ps5 with minimal improvements. Outside of ps3 only titles your better of just buying the titles you want rather the stay subscribed to Premium. But for some reason if you owned the digital version of Legend of the Dragoon on the ps3, you suddenly own the ps4 version of Legend of the Dragoon, don't know why, and I believe it the only game were that works.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Licensing Strategy May Be the Best Route to Reviving Some of PlayStation's Lost Classics

Rodimusprime13

It would depend on what agreements that Sony and the third party have signed. If the agreement only allows the third party to only make a port, then that is all that will happen, but most Sony titles already have ps4/ps5 versions anyway. Then it depends on what platforms the third parties can release the games on, fewer platforms fewer potential revenue. Now if Sony outright sell the IP then the new owners can largely do what they want with the newly acquired IP, it unlikely Sony would do this. If Sony is only licensed IP then it's unlikely the new publisher will be motivated to create any new titles unless they have the right to in there contact.

Re: Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis System Created to Combat the Used Games Market

Rodimusprime13

I personally didn't like the Middle East games because they were brutally hard and the AI was way too smart. When I played these games I found that when every you got even close to one of the enemies it seems to automatically detect you and the base enemies were much stronger than your starting character. Once you died the game got more difficult. I am sure lots of people enjoyed it, but I was just not interested.

Re: PS5 Mega-Flop Concord Is Reaching Absurdly High Prices on eBay

Rodimusprime13

@Barryburton97 Nope Canada. I previously had an eBay account and after they got rid of PayPal the service dropped off and the fees got jacked up. And despite looking all over the website there is no information on what fees they charge for selling video games, and unfortunately the market for video games was small on eBay in the first place.

Re: PS5 Mega-Flop Concord Is Reaching Absurdly High Prices on eBay

Rodimusprime13

@Barryburton97 What I see on the ebay website is a general 13.4% for general category, 15.2 for movie and CD, and no information about fees for video games in particular. And the is just for individual sellers, if you want to get a ebay store you pay a monthly fee. Then on top of that ebay will charge you additional fees if you don't preform to there exceptions. Then they charge a fee on the final cost, and the shipping fees are not cheap which limits how much you can make. After eBay got rid of PayPal and started handing this themselves eBay is a hassle to deal with. The only thing worth selling on eBay is unique items that are hard to come by. For video games you'll often better off selling then to GameStop since you'll end up better off, even with just store credit.

Re: PS5 Mega-Flop Concord Is Reaching Absurdly High Prices on eBay

Rodimusprime13

This is what ebay had become. Most sellers on ebay tend to get any obscure items then turn around and sell them at obscene prices because with the near 25% commission that ebay charges it's the only way to make money. And it cost very little to post a listing and you only pay when an item actually sells. And turning a profit on older video games is almost a Ponzi scheme, in my opinion.

Re: Iconic Game Maker Says Japanese Devs Should Stop Trying to Appeal to Westerners

Rodimusprime13

It's a bit of both. There is nothing wrong with making a game for a Japanese or Western audience but games need to be translated to English for their to be a Western audience. Even if the audio is not translated there should be English subtitles. Most Japanese game can easily be in only two languages like Japanese and English and the can find a worldwide audience. Other languages are beneficial but at the bare minimum they need English.

Re: Mailbox: Sony's Live Service Stupidity, Ghost of Yotei's Appeal, and the Magic of Open World RPGs

Rodimusprime13

My opinion is Sony shot themselves in foot with TLOU 2. Sure TLOU 2 was profitable but it cast a shadow over other Sony studio games. The problem with live service games is they are high risk, high reward. A good live service game can allow you to basically print money, were as a failed live service title means millions lost with no way to recover anything. Every console developer needs to produce games for their own consoles otherwise otherwise consoles often don't live up to sales expectations. And third party exclusives do help but only in the short term.

Re: GTA 6: Everything We Know So Far

Rodimusprime13

My guess is that they are pushing to get the game out in 2025, simply because they can't afford to spend more time developing the game. I personally could care less since I couldn't get into GTA 5 and I'm not a fan of live service games which I suspect GTA 6 will be.
