Re: Silent Hill: Townfall Will Sound Just as Good as It Looks

Queesh

@LordOfTurnips At the games beginning I enjoyed it. Atmosphere is great, graphics are quite good. I was excited for a good spooky adventure.

But as I played, it turned into an absolute slog.
Every area is the same gameplay loop just in increasingly longer segments: Fetch items to solve puzzles or unlock doors, with a puddle-deep combat mechanic against same enemies types that occur FAR too often.

Very little story to speak of, and when a cutscene does happen, it just leaves you saying “…ok?” There’s really no story to keep you pushing further except for the “My wife may or may not be here” storyline that really doesn’t progress.

The game drags on forever, long after the charm and novelty wears off.
I reached about 2/3 through the game before looking it up to see how close I was to completing the game, only to find that I had 2 more major areas. It was soul crushing.

TL;DR: The game really wears out its welcome.

Re: PS5 Players Seemingly Skip Marathon as Sales Estimates Look Very Weak

Queesh

The game comes across as a sweat-fest.

It’s not fun or dynamic enough to make most players want to jump in there and compete.

But if you want to go hardcore, it’s your playground.

And at a $40 entry fee, that’s hard to justify for a game that you might hate or suck at.

The reason CoD got so big was because it’s fun even if you suck.

Re: Starfield's PS5 Release Seems Practically Inevitable at This Point

Queesh

I played it on PC, on gamepass, back when it came out.

I was fairly excited for it, and had a decent bit of fun playing.

But soon, the constant load screens and the time it took on those load screens made it an absolute chore to play. Having to go back to the base planet to sell things/store my items took something like 3-4 separate loading screens just to get to the planet. And that’s just menu navigation, mind you.

The gunplay was fun, and finding new weapons to try and upgrading my gear was fun too; but the planet exploration was a big letdown.

If I could play it for free again to see if these problems were fixed, I might consider playing again. But I will not put up with those load times again.

Re: Crimson Desert's PS5, PS5 Pro Modes Revealed, PS5 Pro Offers Substantial Upgrades

Queesh

@kmtrain83 Having not bought a ps5 yet, I decided to go for the Pro.
This is some of my reasoning:

The Pro costs $750, the baseline ps5 is $400.
The baseline has 1TB storage, and to expand that memory another 1TB is going to cost, at minimum, another $200.

-I am not planning on buying the ps6 at launch.
-The Pro will still be the top of the line until 2027 with the next gen begins to hit, if not 2028 or so.
-And, for me, it would cost almost as much as a Pro to upgrade my PC to perform better than the Pro.

So for me, it was the best investment.
My Pro will be my primary gaming device probably until the “ps6 Pro” or until the price of pc parts and memory goes down enough to make it a better value than a ps6, which might not happen.

Anyways, hopefully some of this aids your thinking.

Re: Physical Game Sales Hit All-Time Low in the US

Queesh

I recently pulled out my box of old consoles.

It’s awesome to own the physical game boxes/consoles, and to physically hold the games I love and used to get so excited to insert into my old PlayStations, Xboxes, various Nintendo consoles.

It’s unfortunate to me that younger gamers don’t value the physical presentation. They must not have that same relationship with it.

I love looking at box art, and game packets, and the cartridge and discs themselves too.

Even now, with my PS5, it’s a representation of having been there, and been a part of that history.

I don’t think digital only owners will be ABLE to revisit those memories like I will be able to.

Re: Crimson Desert Tech Analysis Raises More Questions About PS5 Performance

Queesh

I think ps5 owners are a bit spoiled.

As someone who just upgraded from a gaming PC to a ps5 pro, I can assure you:

You are getting the best gaming experience for your money right now.

If you were building a PC from scratch to perform better than even a baseline ps5, you’re likely spending more than double what a ps5 costs.

Gamers have so much anxiety.
Relax, and enjoy this beautiful hardware generation while it’s happening.

Re: Hands On: Marathon Is Dense, Demanding, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

Queesh

I don’t think I’m the target audience, as I’m not sweaty enough, and I’ve been out of the competitive shooter scene for years.

I don’t consider myself to be a terrible gamer, but…

After about 6 matches, I don’t yet grasp what I’m looking at or suppose to be doing enough to be successful.

I either loot a bunch and get killed, or I focus on fighting and survive only to have nothing to show for it.
