Hot off almost helping to overturn a 4-0 half-time lead, France forward Kylian Mbappe has been announced as the cover star for FC 27.
A full reveal with a trailer and additional information will take place this Thursday, 23rd July 2026. For today, we have the boxart which Mbappe will front, with the below being the Ultimate Edition:
One of the best footballers of the modern game, Mbappe ended the World Cup with the Golden Boot award after scoring 10 goals throughout the tournament. He's now the men's World Cup all-time top goal scorer, with 22 goals across every one he's appeared in. At 27, Mbappe has at least another World Cup tournament in him — and more if Messi and Ronaldo are anything to by — so that record will almost certainly be extended in the years to come.
This is the third time Mbappe has been on the front cover of an FC entry — he was also the lead player for FIFA 21 and FIFA 22 when he was at PSG.

Luckily, centre back partners Ezri Konsa and Marc Guéhi could only limit Mbappe to two goals last Saturday to secure a third-place finish for England. We'll take that result until we can win it (never happening).

Mbappe is the best current footballer because football has changed so much in the last 20 years that skill and creativity has almost been removed from the game. This makes him the perfect cover-boy for EA FC as its what they've done to gaming's football.
20 years ago when football wasn't just about athleticism, speed and ball retention we were spoilt for great players. Mbappe would've been way down the list behind Ronaldo, Zidane, Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Messi, Cristiano, Roberto Carlos, Henry and Peter Crouch, to name a few. They were Pro Evo and now all we've got it FC dross.

@The_Elder Hey thanks. And good for him. If you asked me to name soccer teams before the World Cup I probably would have named a dozen or so. Norway would not have been one of him. Heck if I had seen a list of all time great players before this World Cup I may have only recognized a dozen of them. He would not have been 1 of them.
