French developer DONTNOD only recently released Vampyr, but it’s already back with a new title: Twin Mirror. Announced during a PlayStation stream mere minutes ago, the title has definite Life Is Strange vibes, but looks to be taking its story in a darker direction. Fans of Quantic Dream will instantly spot parallels to murder mystery Fahrenheit, which launched on the PlayStation 2 many moons ago. It'll be published by Bandai Namco.
"An exciting, story-driven adventure game, Twin Mirror is a compelling journey that explores the elements of choice and hypocrisy, while paving a players’ way toward the conclusion of their investigation," said Cyrus Weeson on the PlayStation Blog.
Here's the story set-up: "Your story begins in the town of Basswood, West Virginia, where Sam has returned to attend the funeral of his best friend. While recovering from a heavy break-up, Sam finds himself dejected and downtrodden as he interacts with former friends in his hometown. But, things start to take a turn for the worse when Sam wakes up in his hotel room the next day. With a shirt covered in blood and no whereabouts of the previous night, it’s now up to Sam to recall his memories and search for disparate clues in Basswood to find the truth in this mysterious investigation! But remember the clock is ticking."
The game's due out in 2019, and it sounds absolutely superb.

This looked so good. I got serious Quantic Dream vibes, but also Life Is Strange vibes as well. E3 is already going amazing for me.
Looks intriguing. I'm interested in seeing more. Life is Strange could be a little cringy at times, but it was a solid game, so I'm expecting this to at least be pretty good.
I got more of an Alan Wake vibe from this. It has a Stephen King-esque plot set-up with things going 'strange' from there.
Yeah, I can see the Alan Wake too.
One to watch. Looked good.
As long as it's better than Vampyr, I'm looking forward to it!
I love games like this. Cannot wait!
Also, darker than life is strange? That game was plenty dark enough thanks 😂
Hmm...i hope Dontnod isn't following Telltale's example of taking on many projects at once, leaving little room for creativity and innovation.
This looks like a game I'd love. Very promising.
@Miles_Edgeworth Definitely seems darker, though, no? I got a much more sinister vibe from it.
Adventure game, huh?
It could be interesting. I'll need to see it in action, though.
This looks very cool.
@get2sammyb oh yeh, i'm not questioning how dark it looks, I'm just not sure how much more intense it can get 😂
Looks right up my street. I feel that DONTNOD are starting to get to grips with their specialty now. Needless to say, im in.
Neat!
Right away I got the Fahrenheit vibe too... I just bought the re-mastered version before I jumped into Detroit: Become Human!
DONTNOD's games remind me of Microsoft Windows in a way, every other one they come out with is the good one xD
@BAMozzy Yes! Alan Wake was the first thing I thought of too!
@gbanas92 I knew you'd be hyped for this. I almost copied you in.
I wonder if it's a third party exclusive or just the marketing rights for Sony. Regardless, it looks fantastic, I cannot wait!
@get2sammyb Haha yep! "Tangentially akin to Alan Wake" is like bullet point number 1 on ways to get me interested!
Definitely got a Tetris vibe about it.
Hands up if you thought it was Life is Strange 2 only to realize that Square Enix own the IP lol
I know I wasn't the only one that though the game looks similar to fahrenheit/indio prophecy
Day one if the mistery is supernatural and not "he is the killer all along".
Damn bruh!!! I got mad 'Memento' vibes watching this... Word up son!
COUNT.ME.IN!!!
I do like psychological games, but I'm not sold on this yet. Will need to see more of it first.
I know the developer has pedigree, but the game looks like something from 10 years ago if not further. If anything, the vibes I'm getting are Deadly Premonition.
Life is Strange is amazing, day one!
I’m interested in seeing how it reviews, but I’m intrigued.
I’m a bit surprised that Sony used one of its pre-E3 reveals for a multiplat.
@Retro88 hahaha.i agree.word up son
@adf86 I was guilty of this.
@3MonthBeef Even Jim from Jimquistion likes Vampyr not without its flaws but its still a really nice game not the less.
@Peach64 Stop stelling the game to me mate i want it already. 😁
Looks like Deadly Premonition.. which i thought was really good, despite the PS2 graphics and awkward control mechanics
@Flaming_Kaiser Yeah, I think lots of people weren't really prepared, or informed enough, to know what kind of game Vampyr would be.
People need to listen more to what developers are saying and not force their own assumptions unto a game. It happens so regularly these days, with both gamers and the media getting angry or disappointed over things they really should have known about had they done their research [unless it stems from technical issues].
I'm mostly getting a Heavy Rain vibe from this, with the added surrealism of Fahrenheit.
