I agree, I feel like many studios are still struggling with their own engines and with engines like unreal engine five that it feels like there is still much more life in the PS five and the pro along with the series S & X.
If it was up to me, we wouldn’t be seeing new consoles until late 2028 at the earliest.
Many companies are complaining about a lack of sales but it doesn’t help their mission that there are many games that don’t receive their significant upgrades or patches until months after a game is released, so, that drastically reduces my interest in buying many games day one unless I’m very interested.
I was talking to my buddy the other day and it’s weird that we are 5 years into the PS5 generation and in regard to first party studios we are still mostly in the dark as to what they are working on. It’s a very disappointing experience.
Back in the day, we would’ve already had a show filled with previews of what’s coming.
Bend-???
Santa Monica-???
Bluepoint-???
Guerilla-???
Media Molecule-???
The other newer studios-???
I’m not stupid, I’m very aware of what most the studios are probably working on. I’m just saying we are five years into the system and it’s mostly silence when traditionally we would’ve had a handful of previews, trailers and reveals by now.
Granted, that stupid GASS push has definitely contributed to this.
@Wizpig17 the crazy thing is that I have not owned an Xbox since the Xbox 360 but I bought a series X 3 years ago due to I wanted to catch up on exclusives. I also have a friend that has never owned an Xbox and he bought one three years ago along with me for the games he has never played, the exclusives and for game pass, but with the changes that they’ve made with putting games on PlayStation we’re not buying whatever Xbox comes next. So they’ve definitely contributed to the loss of console sales in the future with the two of us.
Considering the direction they’re going Sony and Microsoft just go ahead and release a console together next generation.
I prefer exclusives because based off of 30 years of history, I think some of the best games have been exclusive. They had to be great to push the sales of systems and we’ve already experienced that a lot of games overall don’t take the risks that they used, but it is what it is.
Considering the direction Sony and Microsoft for going, they may as well just team up and make one console going forward.
I prefer exclusives because it seems like traditionally those have been some of the best games because they had to be to help push sales of the console, but it is what it is.
There were many of us that played the Uncharted multiplayers along with Factions.
If they would have kept adding in new levels to experience along with new cosmetics and emotes to purchase, possibly mixed into a battle pass, they would have insured a steady flow of income.
Multiplayer doesn’t have to be a huge living world and story experience. There are those of us that appreciate an expanded traditional experience.
This would have worked with a game like Motorstorm as well.
@SuntannedDuck2 Even if they were not from Sony studios, I would have liked to seen games that gave me vibes similar to: Motorstorm Pacific Rift, LBP, Resistance, Puppeteer, Little Nightmares, Reanimal, South of Midnight, Infamous, Bioshock, Sifu, Limbo.
The vast majority of what was shown did nothing for me. Games like No More Heroes and Journey don’t do it for me.
@somnambulance I agree, in all my years of gaming I have never been less hyped for the industry than what I am right now.
Silence does not get me hyped, but in the last 15 years, it’s what the gamers pushed the industry to change too. I remember seeing a lot of people saying quit showing games early quit showing previews. Quit giving release windows just be quiet about it until the game releases, and the businesses listened.
I wanna play it and would like to buy it, but I’ve just got too many games that take forever to beat.
I just finished Avowed this past week and that took right at 50 hours. I’m also in the middle of playing cyberpunk. I also have Final Fantasy 16 and the new dragons age that I got cheap that I haven’t even started yet.
I understand wanting to get your moneys worth for games, but these games are so huge that I just don’t have the time for it.
@rjejr I only get on the Internet by phone anymore and I’m aware of the problem you’re mentioning, but this one is when I’m trying to read an article and I scroll down and one of those embedded ads are there the size of it is changed to wear. It wants to go full screen, and so it’s constantly trying to scroll up and down.
I’ve been using this site for years and never had that type of problem, if those types of ads stay, it will definitely reduce my visits here.
It does nothing for me to hear that a new studio has been created knowing that most games take 5+ years anymore to release and many games get canceled or studio shut down before they ever even release it.
I believe I saw news on here this week about some new PlayStation studio that’s been put together with people from a studio that was shut down in the last year.
@breakneck that’s how I feel about GTA six right now. I have zero hype but I’ll buy it whenever it releases, but I also would not care if it got delayed for two more years. I really don’t care if it got canceled.
That was a good read, but I wasn’t happy with that last statement of there’s still a good ways to go before it releases.
The last new, true new game they released was in 2020 and with us being in 2025 that statement makes it sound like it’s not gonna come out till 2027 or later.
Don’t take this the wrong way, I still enjoy games, and am currently playing Avowed, Split Fiction, Cyberpunk and a handful of multiplayer games, but there have been so many rumors that weren’t true and bad news regarding games over the past few years that I don’t get hyped much anymore.
I’m too busy living in the moment.
It may be better explained by using grand theft auto six. I truly don’t care when it releases. They could delay it for two more years and I still won’t care, but when it does release, I will be there day one.
When it comes to building up my hype, PlayStation has fallen dramatically in comparison to how I felt during the previous generations.

Re: State of Play Confirmed for 3rd September, Deep Dive on 007 First Light
Considering we are 5 years into this generation I was really hoping PlayStation would finally have something to show.
I don’t care if Jim with GaaS screwed them over. Being 5 years in and they still have nothing to show is very disappointing.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for September 2025 Announced
Psychonauts 2 is a fantastic game.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Lord of the fallen and black myth both just launch in the last year?
If so, wouldn’t that indicate that those games are years away?
CGI trailers do nothing for me. Even if it’s from an IP that I absolutely love, seeing one of those trailers with zero gameplay do nothing for me.
Re: 'Maybe a PS Showcase, Probably a State of Play': Sony Plotting PS5 Livestream for Late September
I expect whatever show to happen in September to be roughly 50% Ghost of Yotei.
Re: Will GTA 6 Be Delayed Again? CEO Plays It Safe with His Answer
It’s been close to 12 years since GTAV launch, I don’t care if it’s delayed.

Re: Innocuous Days Gone Tweet Attracts Xbox Fans Like Flies to Slaughtered Freakers
Throughout the years, there are always discussions how the generation has faired.
I believe it’s pretty safe to say the PS5 has been the greatest for every other platform generation PlayStation has ever done.
It feels like every time we get a piece of PlayStation news during this PS5 generation it’s what they’re doing for other platforms.
Re: Darksiders 4 May Finally Be PS5's Answer to Classic Zelda
It’s nice to get some good news especially after hearing Bioshock is doing badly.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for July 2025 Announced
This is the first time in a while since they’ve put a game up that I’m interested in.
I’ve came close to buying King of fighters numerous times and now it’ll be nice just to have it.
Re: Talking Point: Is It Officially Game Over for PSVR2?
Im a fan of VR. I owned the PSVR and Oculus from a few years back, but they released the PSVR2 to quickly.
I had a strong feeling because of this it was gonna fail, and they were basically going to abandon it, which is mostly been the case.
They should’ve skipped the entirety of the PS five generation for VR and brought it back a couple years into the PS6 generation.

Re: Days Gone Dev Reportedly Hit with Layoffs, Loses 30% of Staff
It will likely be another 4+ years before they release what is next and i’m pretty sure days gone released in 2019.
That’s a long time to go without a new game. That’s horrible.
Re: Poll: How Would You Rate Summer Game Fest 2025?
Regardless, it was better than that State of Play.
Re: Reaction: Sony Finally Understands the Assignment with One of the Best State of Plays of the PS5 Era
I thought it was mediocre at best.
I saw a poll on Twitter that had over 50000 votes with over half rating it either a C or worse.
For those of you that may not be familiar with that system, it ranks A, B, C, D, F with A being the best.
This highly positive article is shocking to me, but I’m not bashing those that enjoyed it.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for June 2025?
You guys are insane. People have complained for years, but this was easily the worst show in recent history.
That show was garbage. I’m glad I didn’t watch it live.
Re: That's All, Folks: MultiVersus Is Shutting Down Today on PS5, PS4
Will they unlock all the content?
Re: Poll: Do You Care About the Death of PlayStation Stars?
Freaking sucks losing it because I’ve been cashing in on the five dollar rewards for a while.
Re: Talking Point: Does Sony Really Need Some Kind of Summer Showcase?
Speaking only for myself, PlayStation sucks at building hype now.
They are nothing like they used to be.
If they don’t do a show, it will be disappointing, but I already expect to be disappointed again.
Re: Mortal Kombat Fans Are Fuming MK1's Support Appears to Be Over
MK1 has added far more content, and much of it free, than Street Fighter has at this point.
Many of today’s gamers are just weird.
I’ve played my fair share of MK1 and would be happy to spend more time with it, but I’m also happy if it’s time to move on.
Re: Square Enix Demands Bigger Games, Faster Development as Sales Continue to Slump

Re: Poll: Are You Hyped for GTA 6 After Trailer 2?
It was a nice trailer and looks promising but my hype is very low as the game is way to far out to care about.
Re: Insomniac Sounds Sick and Tired of People Demanding Wolverine PS5 News
I’m really shocked that any of these people that have any status to their name would actually interact with people online without a persona.
Hell, I’m a nobody and I use a persona.

Sony can kiss my ass with TLoU.

All this says to me is that you’re not confident in your release date.
Re: Naughty Dog's Intergalactic Unlikely to Release on PS5 Until 2027
I’ve said it before and I guess it’s time to say it again.
The PS5 generation has been a good one, but it’s easily the worst PlayStation generation I’ve ever experienced.

They will override the entire page with a page ad or video.

Re: FragPunk Dev Apologises For Making Fun of Spectre Divide Shutdown
I’m not trying to be overly negative, but I got a feeling in this game will die just as quickly as the vast majority that have in the last few years.
There are already too many established IP’s with big fan bases that might check it out, but aren’t willing to leave the content they’ve purchased.
They may prove me wrong though.
