@somnambulance I agree, in all my years of gaming I have never been less hyped for the industry than what I am right now.
Silence does not get me hyped, but in the last 15 years, it’s what the gamers pushed the industry to change too. I remember seeing a lot of people saying quit showing games early quit showing previews. Quit giving release windows just be quiet about it until the game releases, and the businesses listened.
I wanna play it and would like to buy it, but I’ve just got too many games that take forever to beat.
I just finished Avowed this past week and that took right at 50 hours. I’m also in the middle of playing cyberpunk. I also have Final Fantasy 16 and the new dragons age that I got cheap that I haven’t even started yet.
I understand wanting to get your moneys worth for games, but these games are so huge that I just don’t have the time for it.
@rjejr I only get on the Internet by phone anymore and I’m aware of the problem you’re mentioning, but this one is when I’m trying to read an article and I scroll down and one of those embedded ads are there the size of it is changed to wear. It wants to go full screen, and so it’s constantly trying to scroll up and down.
I’ve been using this site for years and never had that type of problem, if those types of ads stay, it will definitely reduce my visits here.
It does nothing for me to hear that a new studio has been created knowing that most games take 5+ years anymore to release and many games get canceled or studio shut down before they ever even release it.
I believe I saw news on here this week about some new PlayStation studio that’s been put together with people from a studio that was shut down in the last year.
@breakneck that’s how I feel about GTA six right now. I have zero hype but I’ll buy it whenever it releases, but I also would not care if it got delayed for two more years. I really don’t care if it got canceled.
That was a good read, but I wasn’t happy with that last statement of there’s still a good ways to go before it releases.
The last new, true new game they released was in 2020 and with us being in 2025 that statement makes it sound like it’s not gonna come out till 2027 or later.
Don’t take this the wrong way, I still enjoy games, and am currently playing Avowed, Split Fiction, Cyberpunk and a handful of multiplayer games, but there have been so many rumors that weren’t true and bad news regarding games over the past few years that I don’t get hyped much anymore.
I’m too busy living in the moment.
It may be better explained by using grand theft auto six. I truly don’t care when it releases. They could delay it for two more years and I still won’t care, but when it does release, I will be there day one.
When it comes to building up my hype, PlayStation has fallen dramatically in comparison to how I felt during the previous generations.
I could’ve swore that I remember reading articles five years ago from Ryan and Hulst that a big focus of PlayStation’s direction is gonna be GaaS going forward and it sure as hell seem like at that point that studios didn’t really have much of an option. Seems like I remember them bragging they had 12 in the pipeline.
There would be a new 2d Raymond similar to Legends offerings.
Assassins Creed would be rebooted to not include the future segments and focus solely on individual stories that would hopefully lead them to be better and less convoluted.
Farcry would be rebooted and offer more of a mix of what F2 offered along with the later titles. Possibly a smaller denser world filled with destruction elements and better physics like 2 offered in comparison to later versions.
Splintercell would be rebooted as well just to introduce it to a new audience while being very similar to the first few games.
I used to look at the store every single week, but after all that crap got added in I only look at it when I come across a game that interests me that I found through other means.
I liked Dreams but its biggest issue was that it didn’t come with a fun gameplay engine built in, like how LBP felt.
People created some really cool art with it but every type of game they created with it felt like something low quality you would find in the PSN store.
I own a series X and a PS5 but with the direction Xbox is heading I’ve said the same thing in the last 2 to 3 years and it always makes Xbox fanboy extremely angry.
You can check my history. I’ve said for a long time that the PlayStation five generation is decent to good, but it’s still easily the worst PlayStation generation I’ve ever experienced.
It’s insane to me that they had a working model that they just completely abandoned to try to rip off Fortnite.
Look at uncharted 4 for example. It had a really good single player mode with a good tacked on multiplayer. All they had to do was add a new level every few months and add a compact battle pass that gave new costumes and emotes and I still likely would’ve been playing that game more than what I do now.
These companies getting hooked on the idea that everything has to be a grand scale is biting them in the ass. A Monetized uncharted 4 multiplayer didn’t need to provide a living world. It just needed some new levels, costumes and emotes, and it could’ve lived for years. Hell, the game is still pretty active. I still play it.
Slightly off topic, similar to Judas and other games, I’m shocked that we are now in 2025 and we don’t have any release dates for any Sony first party titles.
If they ever go day and date on PC, then I will be done with consoles.
They say there’s not much of a risk, but it’s much larger than what they realize.
I’ve probably spent over 10 thousand dollars on PlayStation hardware and software in their stores over the past decade or so. I realize 10,000 may not be much but then you take 1 million other people like me that ditch consoles and move to PC then they stand to lose a lot of sales in their PSN store and hardware.
It shocks me and has never set well with me that micro transactions higher than $10 have ever done well.
It seems insane to me that even during the last generation when games were $60 that you would get DLC that was near $20 or higher when the entire game cost 60. I’ve always thought that a majority of micro transaction content should be around five to $10 at the absolute most. And I’ve always felt that true expansions should be the content that’s $20 or higher.
But people are free to spend their money however they want.
I still use my disk drive very often. I still use it for gaming of course, I played Star Wars outlaws with it but I’ve bought a lot of shows on box sets that way I could ditch many of my streaming subscriptions.
It was insane to me that they copied 90% of that squid game from Nintendo, but didn’t copy the best part of that game, which is painting the arena. I would’ve actually spent more time in it if they had, but that completely killed my interest.
@carlos82 I agree and want to add that Resident Evil 4 looks fantastic playing in the 120htz mode with VRR along with the 60htz mode with full ray tracing.
With how Sony handled their first party titles with their pro modes, I’m really excited for the next the ghost game and wolverine and whatever else they bring.

Re: Square Enix Demands Bigger Games, Faster Development as Sales Continue to Slump
I don’t think I’ve ever read a report where they were happy with their sales numbers.
Re: Poll: Are You Hyped for GTA 6 After Trailer 2?
It was a nice trailer and looks promising but my hype is very low as the game is way to far out to care about.
Re: Insomniac Sounds Sick and Tired of People Demanding Wolverine PS5 News
I’m really shocked that any of these people that have any status to their name would actually interact with people online without a persona.
Hell, I’m a nobody and I use a persona.
Re: Sony Reportedly Gearing Up to Sell You The Last of Us on PS5 One More Time
Naughty dog hasn’t released one new game this entire generation.
Sony can kiss my ass with TLoU.
Re: The Last of Us Boss Answers Its Most Profound Question: Was Joel Right?
Regardless of the greater question if it was right or wrong, I would choose the life of my child over all of you.

All this says to me is that you’re not confident in your release date.
Re: Naughty Dog's Intergalactic Unlikely to Release on PS5 Until 2027
I’ve said it before and I guess it’s time to say it again.
The PS5 generation has been a good one, but it’s easily the worst PlayStation generation I’ve ever experienced.

Your new mobile ads are ruining this site for me.
They will override the entire page with a page ad or video.

Your new full screen ads they make my screen jump around are pissing me off.
Re: FragPunk Dev Apologises For Making Fun of Spectre Divide Shutdown
I’m not trying to be overly negative, but I got a feeling in this game will die just as quickly as the vast majority that have in the last few years.
There are already too many established IP’s with big fan bases that might check it out, but aren’t willing to leave the content they’ve purchased.
They may prove me wrong though.

@twitchtvpat Well, back then they must’ve been pretty happy with the sales considering they made multiple sequels.

Nice, I just added this to my wish list.
Re: PlayStation Struck by More Layoffs in the Aftermath of Multiple Cancelled PS5 Games
PlayStation has fallen far from the first party output and quality they offered with the PS3 generation.
Uncharted 1-3
TLoU
Resistance 1-3
Infamous 1-2 & Vampire DLC
LBP 1-3
Motorstorm 1-3
GoW 3 & Ascension
Puppeteer
Gran Turismo
Motorstorm 1-3
Ratchet and Clank
Twisted Metal
Killzone 3
Etc

@Almost_Ghostly For most people’s arguments, they only apply that to first party developers.
Re: Reaction: Xbox Publishing More Games on PS5 Than Sony Is Not a Gotcha, It's Just a Sign of the Times
It’s just common sense, Xbox is going third-party and they have more studios.
Re: Random: Bloodborne Fans Cope with State of Play No-Show
I’m tired of hearing about it.
They abandoned it just like they did many other IP’s from the PlayStation 3 generation.
Yes, I’m aware that bloodborne came from the PS4. I’m just stating that there’s been a ton of IP’s that they’ve dropped and ignored.

If I had my way with Ubisoft.

Re: Do You Really Want Devs to Make Lower Budget, More Original Games for PS5?

I want a 13ish hour singleplayer game for 40$ like Ratchet and Clank.
