I’m toying with buying a PS5 so I can play my PS4 games upstairs.

We have three PS3s hooked up in our home. This makes me want to fire up some Puppeteer, early God of War, or Ratchet & Clank. Wonderful stuff.

@EVIL-C No intent to be contrary on my part (and I’m not reading your reply as defensive). And sure, people go into biz to make money. It’s just the “exist to make money” crap is justification for all manner of abuses. I’m sure we’re basically on the same page.

This mindset and approach is designed to extract as much money from the workforce and user base as possible, maximizing shareholder payouts and executive bonuses before the inevitable low level firings when growth slows. The corporate myth of perpetual growth is calculated and very deliberate, as is the nonsense mantra that “Corporations exist to make money.”

They know exactly what they’re doing.

Probably not. There aren’t enough 5 games that I don’t already have for the 4, or are exclusive to the 5 that would entice me in themselves. I can live with weaker hardware, and even Ratchet & Clank isn’t a $500.00 game for me. I’ll no doubt still think about it, but I’m not a performance wonk.

BC is a selling point, however.

I imagine it’s satisfying like coloring. Gets those little endorphin achievement shots in your brain. However, this one gives me motion sickness.

Not feeling this generation, but my perspective is probably skewed by my preposterous backlog and the Steam Deck. I have too many unplayed PS4 games, and as much as I love the series, I can’t bring myself to spend $500.00 to play Ratchet & Clank.

I suck at hard games and find them frustrating rather than rewarding - lose to a boss 10+ times before beating it? No thanks. However, these descriptions of Elden Ring are nudging me to maybe give it a go.

5. Back to normal.

Rift Apart is the most tempting reason for me to get a PS5, but not $500.00 tempting. Even though I love R&C. I feel like I’m being unfaithful.

However, I did just get a Steam Deck, so, you know...

I didn’t preorder NHL 21 to get Rewind, as I don’t click with the way-complicated control schemes of the last several iterations. Just not smart or finger-quick enough. So I haven’t played it. I just saw that it appears to be available as a standalone on the PS store, however, and if I can confirm it’s playable by itself, I’m giving it a try.

@SilentS My fave was ‘94, but I didn’t try ‘98. I’m still waiting for a straight port of ‘94, the greatest game ever made. Well, that or Ocarina of Time.

9. Creeping up through mediocrity.

A lot of the best games on the list play much better with a dial or trackball. Wonder if one can find suitable controllers.

I’d be all over it if I didn’t suck at hard games. I don’t feel satisfaction beating a hard game or level after several attempts, only aggravation. Just me, of course. Too bad, because I love the art style and sound.
