Ah, Earth Defense Force. What a series. What a concept. It's difficult to grow tired of the property's ridiculousness, and the latest instalment — Earth Defense Force 6 — is just days away from launch on PS5 and PS4 in Japan.
EDF 6 has looked like typically dumb fun in its latest gameplay trailers, but who needs those when you've got what is potentially the most absurd advertisement of 2022? Embedded above, the 30-second ad is frankly fantastic. We don't have a clue what's going on, but consider our attention well and truly captured.
Are you a big EDF fan? Feel free to paint the world on your own head in the comments section below.
Japanese game ads are always insane. I've known that since the Legend of Zelda ad where Link and Ganon have an epic dance off.
Wonder if this will come to the west. Also wonder if with the power of the ps5 it will be able to run the crazier levels at over 5fps!
Feels like I'm watching a Filthy Frank video from 2015.
EDF seems to me like absurdly stupid game (from trailers) and I'm not so rich to try waste money on it. Yes, I wasted A LOT on PS5 stupid games, that seemed solid and made me feel PS5 releases are brutal letdown and theft, but still EDF feels like "FIFA" (I just don't want it in library even for free.)
The Ending reminds me Marty being fired .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Km6bFBSVty4
The fact that it's nearly impenetrable to me makes it that much better.
That was great lol.
I hope the game makes it way in the US next year.
@djlard your loss lol
EDF 5 is great fun. Spent hundreds of hours. A bit grindy though. I hope with the power of PS5, things will be smoother.
Japan is straight up just messed in the head and that's great.
That's what happens when you isolate your country from the rest of the planet for over 400 years.
@djlard there are like 3 titles from the series on the ps+ extra tier if you have that and want to check it out. They're somewhat entertaining, but....Yeah. Based on what I've played I wouldn't recommend buying a a copy of an EDF game.
They really have some over-the-top ads.
@Grayjedi13 Sorry, Esential... and Rogue Galaxy I've bought separately, so there is no need for upgrading my ps plus.
Game of the year, clearly.
