@PsBoxSwitchOwner if you focus on the main story you'll be looking at around 40+hrs per expansion, there is a lot of stuff to see and do and the best bet for someone completely new is to just enjoy the journey and not worry about being 'current'. You can also jump into the free trial and chip away at it as and when you like.
I know the first half of the MSQ is a bit slow for some, but I loved it, seeing my WoL so happy and enjoying helping her new friend grow into someone worthy of ruling was just the breath of fresh air I needed.
Downloaded and started it yesterday during the FFXIV 4 hr maintenance.... not sure if it'll have staying power but man the animation is beautiful and the combat is nice and snappy
@colonelkilgore Remember Me has a strange but brilliant OST. I have really fond memories of it and always get a little sad it never properly took off and got sequels. Hope you enjoy.
I'll maybe wrap up the FFXIV Dawntrail MSQ this weekend depending on how much of it is at lvl100 (I just started the lvl98 MSQs) This expansion has done my heart good, seeing my WoL smile so much and actually have fun with her friends has been the perfect start to a new era of adventure... even if I know Yoshi-P and team plan to break my heart as soon as they can!
I would give my last Rolo for a show or film telling Marika's whole story. There is so much that is only inferred by the lore in-game, little nuggets that point to a much grander story that the player only experiences the aftermath.
All about exploring Tural in FFXIV Dawntrail for the foreseeable future. Over the last week I scoured the Realm of Shadow clean of loot and bosses so Elden Ring is done until I decide to move to a new game plus and try fiisting my way through everything.
That was fantastic and now for the second best bit of a From Soft game... Lore Videos! That and figuring out what kinda build I want to take into the next Journey... I got a sword that has Eternal Sleep as the status it can build up and I may build around that just to see what it actually does to bosses.
I love me a good challenging game as long as it is fair - which is obviously subjective - and for me the Soulsborne games have always been fair with learnable mechanics and the ability to tailor a build to my needs. A good example of this is with SoTE the first 'boss' you meet is destroying most people but if you grab a few of the blessings the Black Knight becomes much more manageable.
Shadow of the Erdtree, my chosen Tarnished has been camping outside that cocoon for ages! I got through two Remembrance bosses yesterday fairly easy. Right now I just came up out of a dried well to see a burnt out village that begs to be explored.
There is no feeling like exploring a new From Soft space.
I wonder how many of these silly-billys realise that most people will do their MSQ first run of a dungeon with Trusts so they don't have to rush and can actually take in the dungeon. I wish you could mix - have two players and two trusts - but otherwise I'll never feel the daftness of this, I mean heck these are probably the Healers that refuse to DPS and slow everyone down anyways.
@anoyonmus he wasn't asking if they were okay, he said that they were doing okay with content from the direct... Meaning the Direct had given plenty to write about.
@themightyant Heavily disagree about Penacony's story telling, It's been fantastic for me, but that's the great thing about these games, each new zone brings in a fresh story that will -hopefully- resonate better with people who didn't enjoy the previous one.
@Korgon I fell off just after the big boss of the Xianzhou (think that's how its spelled) arc due to burn out but came back last month when I realised I didn't have enough time for the bigger games I wanted to get to and jumped back on HSR... aaaand hooked again, cleaned up all the main quests and now I'm slowly catching up on all the blue quests and maxing out my team (and saving warps for when they have a new Tank/Preservation to pull for)
I tend to use guides when I want to be efficient with my time. First complete ER run was 170hrs ish... Second run with a guide was half that time and I found stuff I missed.
With From Soft games any victory is a good victory
@themightyant yeah, I was really stoked to see Max returning... but this move means I'll probably watch someone else play it YT and enjoy it vicariously.
Thing is Origins world map was mostly empty desert, if they cover the same square mileage with the density seen in the trailers and gameplay it's going to be fairly similar in size and content to the other Big RPG entries with the exception of Valhalla which was sickeningly huge in hindsight (I still don't know how I 100% everything in that game)
@BusyOlf depending on when you last played you'll be fine to jump in, aside from Strikes and Raids everything is soloable... The only issue you might run across is that seasonal content vanishes from the game once its done so jumping from one expansion to another is a little jarring
If the game lets me cuddle Harding and pet the baby griffin I am golden.
I've watched the trailer a few more times and I'm at around 70/30 in favour of the new art direction. The gameplay reveal is going to be interesting. Some people just sound like they've already made up their minds to hate it and that makes me pity them.
You know what? No, I won't join the whinging ranks... I kinda dig the art style. Art direction has never been consistent across the franchise and this adds a load of character.
I'm really looking forward to gameplay... Also I am chuffed that Scout Harding is back!
It feels odd, trophies in the base games are always a good way to see if you missed anything major, guess I'll have to be extra thorough in the Land of Shadow.
@Kanji-Tatsumi I'm hoping we get a rough idea of when Veilguard is coming out so I can plan a full series replay with Dragon Age. The Inquisition DLC was a step up in toughness from what I remember but it was very satisfying.
Finishing the Final Shape campaign and seeing what the seasonal stuff is like. More Honkai even though I'm all caught up I'm now trying to get my teams in tip-top condition...
I still feel like I'm in a holding pattern with the wait for Shadow of The Erdtree AND Dawntrail!
I'm still expecting queues, because at this point it feels like tradition to be sat in queue on coms with my people having a light-hearted whinge and comparing snack drawers.
I was thinking that maybe they'd do a story between the two games to give Bela a chance to grow into older Ellie... You know cover the estrangement between Joel and Ellie, show Abby finding her dad and vowing vengeance... but then I realised Bella is 20 and she's done growing!
When you have just shy of quarter of a million people trying to access something all at once it is bound to cause issues and it isn't as simple as putting more servers up.
My heart goes out to Bungie and any team that's trying to make infrastructure that works for passing users through log-in servers when you don't have an unlimited budget.
I am the King of Managed Expectations so I do really look forward to these things because the most I expect is updates on stuff, the bigger stuff I'm hoping for is gameplay reveals for games we've only seen in CG trailer form before and even then I don't expect much... There are soooooo many cool looking CG trailers with no actual gameplay, so there is plenty that could show up.
Earlier this year I marathoned the entire Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise up to LAD Yakuza so with all that fresh in my brain i can safely say I am EXCITED! I have yet to get to Man Who Erased His Name, Isshin and Infinite Wealth but they are on the docket for After Dawntrail and Shadow of The Erdtree.
The Series S is probably the biggest reason we haven't left the old gen apart from the size of the install base on the old gen. Bu the S neutered this Gen's ability to make forward progress technologically
I'm finishing up my Honkai catch up and playing the Diablo 4 lootmageddon season. I also finished up my Destiny 2 prep for The Final Shape.
I've felt like I've been in a holding pattern for a while, waiting on The Erdtree's Shadow and Dawntrail and not really wanting to commit to anything too major.
It was okay... To me it felt very slap dash, like it had been put together last minute. I'm of the opinion that a drastic change is needed to counter the longer dev cycles 1-2 games per generation doesn't cut it for a studio, it would be a risk for Sony but they need a staggered multi team approach in the big studios aiming for several projects on the go to hit one game every other year.
This looks absolutely delightful, will be keeping an eye on this one. I love this type of art style, add to that some chill exploration and i am a happy camper.

I hope that they're just re-hiring the team with the new studio because that team is responsible for come S-tier AA Jank.
Embracer continues to be an utter failure instead of a steady, balanced revenue earner.

Buuuut not until I've tidied away the Dawntrail MSQ and a fair few other bits and bobs in FFXIV, but it is next up on the docket.

Re: Elden Ring DLC Made Easier with New PS5, PS4 Calibration Update
Seems to work out as a 10% buff, so just enough to squeak out the last few hits if you've been struggling to put a boss to sleep... Eternally

Re: Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake Gets November PS5 Release, Dragon Quest 1 and 2 Remakes Coming 2025
@anoyonmus Nope, because the Direct featured a host of third-party games making it relevant and beneficial to cover on a PS focused site.
