Re: Throne and Liberty (PS5) - Beginner MMO Is Plagued with Technical Issues

Mintie

I'm quite enjoying this over on PC... But I just wish these Korean/Chinese MMOs would hire someone to naturalise their localisations, there is such a stiff ever so slightly off quality that is unmistakable and you know it is because to VO direction was forced to stick to the badly translated script. There is room for the story to shine but it never gets to in these MMOs.

Re: Upcoming PS5 Games for October and November 2024

Mintie

With the pace I'm replaying the first three Dragon Age games Veilguard will probably hit its first sale before I pick it up... I had planned on getting it day one but bad time management on my part means I'll probably be just getting Hawke settled in Kirkwall by the time Rook and chums come stumbling through the gate.

Re: Don't Give Up on Jin Just Yet, More Ghost of Tsushima Spin-Offs Planned

Mintie

@nessisonett well put.

I don't mind the film being Jin centric because it started a long time ago... but yeah for the games let Atsu shine.

If they do feel compelled to do more Jin I hope they do it as a really dense novel to piss off the nuggets that are whining, but also for me because I'm never truly happy unless the book I'm reading doubles as a bludgeoning weapon.

Re: God of War Ragnarok PC Mod Removes PSN Login Requirement

Mintie

@Wiceheid they have a weird blind spot for every single company they already gave their info to.

It is such a strange thing to get hung up over because you can almost guarantee they gave the same info to places like Reddit, twitter... godsdamned 4chan!... as well any number of subscription services and yet they balk at a process that takes a few minutes.

Yes some countries don't support PSN, just log in with details that smudge the truth about your location and if you can't do that then you probably having bigger fish to fry.

Re: Fresh Marathon Details Cover Heroes, Pricing, and Bungie's Silence

Mintie

I have really clouded memories of the original Marathon trilogy, but i do remember it being mostly single player with a story. I was so excited when the reveal came for this new Marathon and then that excitement was slapped out of my hands and stomped on.

It sounds like it'll be really pretty but also extremely shallow like all extraction shooters.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 546

Hollowbody and Caravan Sandwitch

One scratches my survival horror itch and the other calls to my nomadic soul (I'd give up everything if I could afford to constantly travel and explore new places IRL - my fave trips involve just booking plane tickets and a week at a simple, clean hotel and spending my time exploring, eating at non-touristy places and doing spur of the moment Stuff)

Re: Annapurna Interactive Exodus Sees Entire Staff Resign

Mintie

@Tevor Remedy's deal was with the parent company so they're unaffected.

But yeah, there has to be more than 'You won't let us be our own corporate entity? Fine we all quit!' My money is on an unfair amount of revenue flowing back to the Big Suits at homebase rather than paying/incentivising the people who actually pulled in the revenue.

Re: Don't Worry, You Can Add an Ultra HD Disc Drive to PS5 Pro

Mintie

Yeah, no thanks.

This should be £599 with a disc drive... even then I'd be hesitant with how lacking PS offerings have been this gen.

I'm usually Mr. Positive, but unless something changes I'm going to be going all in on PC gaming because so far the PS5 has been mostly used for Hoyoverse games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 545

Mintie

Honestly not much this weekend, mentally I'm just not up to focusing on a game, the most I'll do is some FFXIV dailies with the bestie.

I have, however, binged the entire season of Batman - Caped Crusader and thoroughly enjoyed it even if some of the character reimagining's didn't quite hit.

Re: Preview: Monster Hunter Wilds on PS5 Feels Like Another Generational Leap Forward for the Iconic Franchise

Mintie

@man_what I feel it should be pointed out that for everything except Elder Dragons you don't have to kill them, you can capture them for examination and, if they aren't a danger, release back into their home ecology. You are encouraged by the game's mechanics (more and rarer loot) as well as the narrative to capture whenever possible.

Elder Dragons have to be killed because they will, without exception, destroy the biosphere they nest in either through predation or environmental contamination.

I do agree that the games could do a better job of showing this - we do see biomes that are a result of past ED contamination but it isn't ever made obvious unless you do a lot of digging.

But the killing thing, yeah you don't need to do that, only lazy or bloodthirsty hunters put the regular animals down in the field, so that's on you.
