@dschons They did say and at the Xbox Showcade (and later on a interview with Spencer) that it will be a Xbox Game Studios game, the only game from XGS that are not exclusives are in the Minecraft IP.
About Pentiment, the page dont have "console lauch exclusive" on it. In fact i just found the platforms nothing about exclusivity.
@Mad001 There are rumors that Obsidian is working on a spin-off for Fallout, easier now, since Both are Xbox studios, off course, it would be a Xbox exclusive, but that is the future to all Bethesda IP's.
@Barryburton97 there is no PC version, only Xbox 360 and PS3, It runs on Xbox at 4K 60fps thanks to Microsoft and its backcompat team R* did nothing with the exception of authorizing the game to be backward compatible.
@Cikajovazmaj It dont make Financial sense, but Microsoft If It fails Microsoft Will have money to spend and they should start doing what Sony does with AAA.
And so Far no ones believes this will take longer thanks June to the deal to close. A Second fase of investigations was expected in every market, what people did not expect was that Sony would make public statements about It.
@Cikajovazmaj Microsoft would pay 3B If the deal fails, and still have 66B from that cash, If It fails i would use everything tô buy exclusivity and ***** Sony, like 10B for sure bugs GTA6 as exclusive for a few years, the same goes for CoD, and every Sega/Capcom and they would still have 26B to use.
TBH with that money they could buy some of the publisher i talked about, but since Sony Will cry about It, and acording to PS users payibg for exclusivity IS better than buying the publisher so...
@tallythwack Yeah, i did, did u see How many where AAA? And even tried to count how many they made and how many Sony made? I'm not saying that Microsoft doesn't just do it less than Sony, if you want to ignore scale and number of exclusivity, u should do the same for scale and numbers of acquisition.
Sony does more and bigger exclusives, Microsoft does more And bigger acquisition, bought are nada, but u Just Care when Microsoft does.
@uptownsoul Fair, but i still not convinced about It, wait and see, but lets say u have a point, Microsoft has 4 AAA timed in 5 years, How many did Sony? These are not comparable numbers.
The same goes for studios acquired, Sony bought ~8 in 4 years, how many did Microsoft bought? Not comparable, it's not because they both do something that means they have the same weight, frequency, scale.
@CWill97 Will It have crossplay? I dont think so, It IS small Part of the game It still dont have crossplay with PC and Microsoft would have to pay for It, after all we know, thanks to Epic vs Apple, that PlayStation charges for crossplay and still demands part of the sales profit on other platforms to do It.
@uptownsoul Both are wrong but these games are not AA and u Will seen when they release, and as i have already Said my argument IS not that Microsoft IS Innocenti and Sony a villain.
But to say that "both do the same" is a lie, that as much true as saying that Sony buy studios Just like Microsoft, not on the same level.
@uptownsoul 1 h Did not use It as a excuse Just pointing out a fact, but it also applies to Microsoft and DR3/4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider as well as Sony and SF5. Just Said that they still indies/AA
2 - The games still dont have size and budget to be called a AAA, dont matter what u want to say. And that IS something that most PlayStation and Xbox users Will say, when they r not trying to battle in the "console Wars". Sony pays more AAA, AA and Indie studios to have exclusivity than Microsoft. Did u forget the ridiculous fact that Microsoft can't even mention two of its IP's 'cause Sony has a exclusivity deal signed before the acquisition of Bethesda, that something that Microsoft dont do cause to them It would costa a Lot more than tô Sony do It.
@uptownsoul And none of them can be called AAA some in fact only finished/will finish the development because Microsoft financed part of the development, and as already said if we include those in the Gap of third-party exclusives among Microsoft and Sony Will only get larger.
@Neverwild It was in 2021 my guy and to be clear It was a next-gen timed exclusive. It still released for the PS4 the same as Xbox in the west.
They started doing It again this gen but still only 2 games in 5 years, 3 in 7 and excluding Phantasy Star (where they are in a partnership with Sega to publish It everything else was 3 to 6 months of exclusivity.
U r saying that they do the same while forgetting that Sony has locked former 3rd party AAA games as Full exclusives usually 2 per year + indies (that they do more than Microsoft) + Plus marketing deals (that they do more and with bigger IP's).
Comparing what Sony does with what Microsoft does and comparing Sony buying Bungie with Microsoft acquiring Bethesda/Activision.
@Neverwild We are not even mentioning exclusivity on indies/AA or again Sony has way more, Like a Dragon, Phantasy Star are the one AAA games with times exclusivity since 2017, and u really gonna talk about payibg for marketing material? Microsoft cant even mention their own games like Deathloop and Ghostired Tokyo thanks to Sony, and Sony IS the king of marketing exclusivity.
@uptownsoul The last time Microsoft pais to Lock a AAA IP to Xbox for a year was with RotTR in 2015z when u pony boy spent months complaining and crying, the last AAA timed exclusive released was Dead Rising 4 (exclusivity acquired when they paid for the development of DR3), Microsoft has not paid to Lock 3rd party AAA games in 7 years, Sony does It 2 times year with Full exclusives + several as timed exclusives up to 2 years (that they can pay to make Full exclusives)
@UltimateOtaku91 i think that is the point they are making, Sony is crying to the Brazilian goverment and saying "Buying Act-Blizz is unfair" Microsoft is just saying " U do similar things all the time"
@Milktastrophe Microsoft own the rights and had the licensed rights for the production of PC games, they probably authorized the port, we just don't know what changed, maybe Are you terminating the license and authorization of the port to maximize profits? Like they did with MSFS before revealing the new version, which this time would be First-party)
@RavenWolfe81 He was clearly referring to the games being day 1 on XGP, but it has the same effect as people swearing that SF6 and RE4 R were PS5 exclusives, at least with Microsoft you know that if there's no " Console Launch Exclusive" or "Xbox Console Exclusive" It is not exclusive, unlike Sony that likes pretend everything is exclusive and leave it to the publishers to clarify hours or sometimes days after the reveal.
@themightyant Sony still the second largers company in gaming by revenue, still is the market leander on the console market.
In the gaming Industrie Sony is closer to a monopoly than Microsoft Will be after the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard.
Microsoft have the money to become a monopoly in the future, but Sony still closer to one in the present.
PS: Every purchase over 100M must be reported to the FTC and they can investigate any of them that may cause a reduction in competitiveness, the new leadership of the body wants to be more restricted, an investigation was obvious in my view.
I really hope that Microsoft terminate the license agreement and give Shadowrun to Inxile/Obsidian/Bethesda, they own the IP since the 2000 and now they finally have competent studios that work mostly with RPG's.
@awp69 Obsidian has nothing to do with Bethesda, they made one game as a contract dev, they were never part of Bethesda, It was a independent Studio until the Microsoft acquisition in 2018, 2 years before the Zenimax Media acquisition, and that includes all 8 Studios and Its satellite studios (Tango, 2 id Software Studios, 2 Zenimax Online Studios, 4 Bethesda Game Studios, Roundhouse, 2 Arkane Studios, Machinegames and Alphadog) and also the publisher. (Bethesda Softworks)
@nomither6 So, when Microsoft do what Sony already do with these and more IP's with out even owneing It, right?
PS: And talking of the dirtier company do u remember the company that paid devs (Skip Sega consoles) and stores (hideo the consoles in the end of the stores) to harm Sega?
@RevGaming I don't think they want to be bought either, I just said in relation to the publisher that Sony can buy and affect the Xbox community. EA and Take Two are the only ones, Ubisoft is the only publisher Sony could buy and gave some effect on Xbox, otherwise most Japonese publishers mostly focus on Playstation/Nintendo.
@RevGaming So do i, but there is only 2 that could be really be shocking for the Xbox cummunity, EA and Take Two, and these are above Sony's current options.
@RevGaming we both know that is not the problem, they would managed to do it with enough money (and we know that they have It), they just judged that there is no return on investments, and nowadays they have already said that between paying/funding games for exclusivity and getting 3 months + Game Pass they would choose the second option.
The narrative will remain the same, lets Go back to 2015, Sony got SFV as exclusive and Playstation users said that was great, Microsoft got Rise of the Tomb Raider as a TIMED exclusive and it was considered a crime, unforgivable, the Playstation community, ignoring the fact that they were being hypocritical started criticizing Microsoft like there was no tomorrow, and remember Microsoft also financed some of the development. Xbox users Will say "Ok Its fare Microsoft Will buy more Studios" and PS users will celebrate the exclusivity and when Microsoft announces another exclusivity Playstation users will cry because It is unfair and Microsoft Will lose money and should sell on "the better/larger platform as Well", Just like the last 9 years.
Im not saying that Xbox users r not toxic, but in this topic, Xbox users are better.
@LightningLeader Didn't Phil Spencer say that "The Elders Scrolls Exclusivity, and all of out games was not made to hurt Playstation users, but to boost the Xbox" or something like that a few months ago?
PS: Also on ur argument, the same could be said about Starfield (which probably has a half baked PS5 version), but will be exclusive to XGP platforms, the only game i can see releasing on PS4 is Indiana Jones, thanks to the deal with Disney, but even then Microsoft could have renegotiating in favor of exclusivity.
@RevGaming Well, yeah, but since Rise of the Tomb Raider (when PS community was 100% agains timed exclusivity) Microsoft stopped doing It to AAA games, Indies only have a 3 months deal (If It releases later It is up to devs), AA some times have 6 months but they also r usually 3 months, the only timed exclusivity longer than that IS thanks to estou access, Xbox does have a program and PS dont, so games can release unfinish on Xbox but have to get the final version before releasing on PS4/5.
Also Sony usually temporary exclusive masks, at the end of a trailer for 2 or 3 seconds, that when they do, they extend exclusivity, with Microsoft it's simple, at the beginning of the trailer it's a Launch exclusive or Exclusive, that is it and again Microsoft no longer does deals for AAA games, even most AA with exclusvity had Microsoft paying for part of the development.
@RevGaming In the case of FF i do think so, not fully but partially funded by Sony, announced as a temporary exclusive, It was also the case for Rise of the Tomb Raider, Microsoft partially funded the development.(in the case of Dead Rising 3 they financed everything and bought the right of refusal in exclusivity for DR,4 all in one agreement)
But CoD DLC is just the same as Ghostwire Tokyo/Deathloop/Control DLC/Destiny DLC/etc Sony Just pays for timed exclusivity for something that would be multiplat
@RevGaming Mass Effect was a SFV case, Microsoft funded the development (they still own publishing rights for the First game, like they do for Sunset Overdrive, EA cant release the First game alone they allways need the trilogy to use a breach in contract, Microsoft also funded ME2, the only reason It when multiplat was EA acquiring BioWare and renegotiating ME2, and funding ME3, and as I said, ME was never released on PS3/4/5 without relying on the trilogy.
@twitchtvpat i dont think Activision-Blizzard cloud do It, when they signed the account intent agreement they have stated their duties to a third party, they are likely to have liberties to assume short-term responsibilities, but nothing long-term. Similarly, Bethesda and Sony stopped the deal for Starfield timed exclusivity during Bethesda's negotiation with Microsoft.
@thefourfoldroot 2024 is probably the final year, If im not mistaken, they got a deal from 2015 to 2019 and renew It in 2020, speculating that the deals will be the same length of time the last CoD that we're sure to come out on PS5 will be released in 2024.
@Milt Call of Duty for sure, but i really dont believe that If a New Spyro/Crash game would bê released on PS5, for starters Activision decided to stay on Call of Duty and the studio that made the remake/sequel was put in the CoD mines, if sequels to these IP's exist it will be because Microsoft wanted It and reversed Activision's decision.
@Titntin Yes It is, but Sony refused It for years before finally allowing the service to be launched on the console, what I wanted to demonstrate is that they were simply playing hard with Ubisoft, maybe they dont want to lose on the % with the Sales, maybe they want a better deal, there are so many possibilities.
PS: But right now i dont even know If i reply to the right person, It's been a long time.
@Porco The Studios was CREATED in Jul 2018, they have 70 devs, is really surprising that Microsoft has set up a studio focused solely on leadership and that they choose to pay for third-party developers that Will be lead by a First-party Studio?
@Squanch Yes they do wnat to do the so called AAAA games, and for Microsoft that IS ur GoW and TLoU, but they have 70 devs, all on leadership roles, they Will lead and pay for work force, u do know that about a dozen studios have worked on TLoU2 right? Outsourcing is normal in the game industry, but in the case of Microsoft which has 0 support studios they usually just pay for It, Sony only pays for third-party support If It is too much at the same time for ALL the internal support studios.
@uptownsoul Microsoft wont release it through PS+ they r slowly removing every Bethesda Game from PSNow and the same will happen with the games on PS Collection, as soon as the contract expires
@guestwork Not a worse version it has the same features as the Xbox One, it just dont have a Next-Gen version, as it was never part of the Fig campaign, and the campaign is the only reason that the game was released on PS4. Or do u think that Microsoft would give u a Next-Gen version for free when Sony dont like doing it.
@AFCC They usually give the same notes from other platforms (kinda bad, cause a game can be good on PS4, but bad on Xbox), like for exemple there is a French website that did the review of PC but they still on Metacritic for Xbox, Playstation and PC.
@AFCC But, at least it is a first-party title, Sony pays third-party games to have pre-release reviews codes as PS4/5 exclusives, it is not new, u r just shocked cause this time PS4/5 is the one harmed, not Xbox...
@NEStalgia Sorry, yes I do agree with u on that, but they r definitely changing attitude towards Playstation, no Psychonauts 2/ Hellblade/ Minecraft Dungeons on PS5.
Thinking now, even Zenimax is not releasing that the new AAA games on PS5 (Redfall, Starfield), Quake is just a legacy IP being remastered, probably in development before the acquisition, the same can be said about Skyrim, Bethesda did say in 2020 that they would make Next-Gen update for their games Skyrim AE is basically this + a Bundle with paid mods and I can see they doing the same for Fallout 4 soon.

@Porco The Studios was CREATED in Jul 2018, they have 70 devs, is really surprising that Microsoft has set up a studio focused solely on leadership and that they choose to pay for third-party developers that Will be lead by a First-party Studio?
Re: Tomb Raider, Marvel's Avengers Maker Now Co-Developer on Xbox Exclusive
@Squanch Yes they do wnat to do the so called AAAA games, and for Microsoft that IS ur GoW and TLoU, but they have 70 devs, all on leadership roles, they Will lead and pay for work force, u do know that about a dozen studios have worked on TLoU2 right? Outsourcing is normal in the game industry, but in the case of Microsoft which has 0 support studios they usually just pay for It, Sony only pays for third-party support If It is too much at the same time for ALL the internal support studios.
Re: Soapbox: Don't Let Psychonauts 2 Pass You By
@uptownsoul Microsoft wont release it through PS+ they r slowly removing every Bethesda Game from PSNow and the same will happen with the games on PS Collection, as soon as the contract expires
Re: Round Up: Psychonauts 2 Reviews Love the Wacky New Adventure
@guestwork Not a worse version it has the same features as the Xbox One, it just dont have a Next-Gen version, as it was never part of the Fig campaign, and the campaign is the only reason that the game was released on PS4.
Or do u think that Microsoft would give u a Next-Gen version for free when Sony dont like doing it.
Re: What Is Going on with Sony's Supposed Acquisition of Bluepoint?
@sanderson72 Yeap most At Codemasters and some at. Playground Games.
Re: Round Up: Psychonauts 2 Reviews Love the Wacky New Adventure
@AFCC They usually give the same notes from other platforms (kinda bad, cause a game can be good on PS4, but bad on Xbox), like for exemple there is a French website that did the review of PC but they still on Metacritic for Xbox, Playstation and PC.
Re: Round Up: Psychonauts 2 Reviews Love the Wacky New Adventure
@AFCC But, at least it is a first-party title, Sony pays third-party games to have pre-release reviews codes as PS4/5 exclusives, it is not new, u r just shocked cause this time PS4/5 is the one harmed, not Xbox...
Re: Round Up: Psychonauts 2 Reviews Love the Wacky New Adventure
