@RiotShieldsHurt bro you may want to seek medical help for what you are experiencing! In the medical field I believe that’s referred to as having a stroke. That nonsense word salad is a sure sign. If by some miracle you are not having a stroke , then for the love of all that Is holy speak some form of English.
Oh no! A business doing what’s it thinks is best for its company! How absolutely heinous! How dare they?! Waaaaahhhhh…In ACTUAL news there is a blowout sale at disc traders this weekend.
@BAMozzy yeah not everyone wants a console, or can afford multiple platforms. And that’s ok. Looking at this from a business perspective, the juice may not be worth the squeeze. Sometimes it’s worth it to leave a little money on the table, and strengthen the brand or whatever. I don’t think this is all about money here. Sony seems to be making moves to change the companies business model. Sony isn’t trying to Screw anybody any more so than Steam or Xbox. In the words of a small band called the Rolling Stones: “You can’t always get what you want….” ( amazing song btw)
Try not to color with too broad of a brush here. Yes-there are pc players that are absolute nothing burger nutbags ( the type of losers that would cheat at a mp game just for bragging rights)that want control, just to feel like they had the power to influence a publisher. However, to take a sampling of the most vocal minority then coloring a whole population with the same brush is a bit much. I game on pc also and there are just as many pc players ( nowadays anyhow) that don’t care who plays on what system. Or don’t care about exclusives. There is opinion writing and then there is just outright muckraking and attempts at further sowing division. C’mon do better!
@scottXedgar because the site here loves to employ a false choice/ binary fallacy narrative. That the only options are either apathy or anger, rather than more possibilities like joy or mixed feelings.
@Templedoom amen! Been saying that for a while. If I could get a trade in on a digital license, I’d sure as hell buy more digital ( not a lot, but more). It’s a win for gamers, companies, and game makers.
@HeeHo so his opinion isn’t valid because you don’t agree with it? He is right. Psn is NOT owned by the UK government. They are their own company. They are a company that many people CHOOSE to interact with their business model. When people start voting with their wallet then things might change. Until then “calling them out” for a doing something that a lot of people either don’t care or don’t disagree with does nothing.
@Globo so what do call a loyalty card/loyalty rewards program? Not sure what part of the country you live I. But I can name a few grocery stores here that literally do that ( Meijer mperks, Speedway reward card, Kroger card, Quality Dairy loyalty cards,D&w reward card). That’s just naming a few. You don’t have to like it but look around you- dynamic prices are everywhere in society. And so far none of those grocery stores, gas stations, or convenience stores have went out of business. And of course credit card companies do this all over the world. Not to mention hotels ( trivago website)
Yeah. I try to buy physical copies if I can (Most of the time) so it does not affect me a whole lot. What I don’t understand is that the price of a physical game can change quite drastically from store to store. How’s this different? Like why is this treated as such a scandal? Not a hypothetical. Literally what am I missing? Sometimes I have to either drive to other stores or pay the current stores price, if I want the game bad enough. I’m not sure how this is different than learning that a friend paid less at a different store.
@Metonymy yeah I appreciate the perspectives. It helps me shape and or reshape my opinions. I comment usually while at work so my affect doesn’t always come across as neutral ish or as objective as I mean to LOL.
@Metonymy well I guess if he chose to join or stay in that union thats his issue. Capcom isn’t required to hire union. At that point what is the point of crying over spilled milk? I opt out of my union when it didn’t work in my favor. He can do the same if it’s that big of deal. If it’s not that big of deal why lament on social media. And here I thought this guy was taking a principled stand. Lol turns out he just didn’t like his options. He can voice his frustrations to his union btw. Aren’t they supposed to represent the will of their members? Thats what they advertise anyway.
@nessisonett well at least he made an educated and well researched stance then. Again the guy is standing on principle I admire that, even if I don’t share his viewpoint on some things. Who knows ( burnt toast theory) maybe this will be a blessing in disguise.
@Matroska I mean yeah. A contract IS enforceable without a union behind it. Not to mention what happens if the union lawyers loose? What do people who don’t have unions do? Btw I’m a not for AI I think it comes with too many problems just like this. But if all unions were inherently altruistic and truly for the people, shouldn’t they not be able to make profit?
I do admire his principles. Not many take a stand. That said why wouldn’t you just negotiate a contract for yourself?mean it’s not like you can’t request certain things. In non videogame and non union jobs people advocate for themselves in salary negotiations. I’m not Going to rely on someone else to tell my future employer that x amount of pay is “ good enough”.
@Rich33 yeah. There are great unions out there (trades for example) and my nephews are millwrights their union is amazing. The union at my job is useless. They haven’t answers our ( my team) questions in over 2 years. I opted out after the first year. They still are required to represent me but I don’t have to pay them about 200( us) dollars a month to apparently not do anything.
No I play as an orc because I like the stats. No I don’t dress it up. It’s not game breaking to me to not look pretty. Plus I play in first person view on any games that I can. My philosophy is this; id rather play the game and appreciate the main mechanics/ story. I don’t spend a lot of time on the look of my character. It’s nice if it’s free and I have time to waste, but overall I don’t bother with cosmetics. I want my orc to be fierce and look scary lol not fluffy and civilized.
So the data is good to use when it’s positive for the devs/ games, but when it doesn’t fit into their hopes or appears negative, it’s not a complete picture? This is why there are a lot of people that don’t take developers serious. Data is data, either take it or leave it but keep the manipulation out of it.
@LowDefAl so what you are saying is that the reviews will not be unbiased, and trustworthy as the developer is calling the shots? That’s not a review that’s called “ advertising”. Surely you can’t be advocating for a blatantly biased advertisement disguised as a review right? What am I missing here?
@Ambassador_Kong where I agree with your point. Push square writers are not journalist. They are an opinion site biased toward PlayStation. Nothing wrong with that. Just saying journalistic integrity doesn’t apply here.
@Propaperpusher I can’t disagree with you there. I thought Elder Scrolls online was bad with the micro transactions. At least that has a lot of free content. Paying for a game then paying for cosmetics is a foreign idea to me. Especially when I grew up not able to afford but one game every couple of years. That said I love the old guildwars model. You could play it without ever buying a single thing. And a lot of times you could get drops that would be a micro transaction anyway.
I was expecting the numbers on this to do a whole lot more coming from this studio. Color me intrigued. If I’d had to wager a guess: it’s not a free game, and there are other games still competing with this. imho if this had released in the fall it may have done quite a bit better. Give time for the competition to cool off a bit. Also I don’t think that not being able to buy a skin is the reason a lot of people don’t play it. Many of the casuals in my circle won’t buy skins. Personally I have never do or have-but even if I did it wouldn’t be the reason I would ( or would not) play.
Good news for people planning on buying Xbox. I won’t be but,I’m glad Xbox seems to be at least somewhat trying to stay in the console race. Time will tell if Microsoft tries to micromanage the brand further. For competition sake I hope not. I think overall this could be a win for the industry if it’s executed properly. And even as much as I dislike a lot of, or parts of, Steam-them having a console may push PlayStation to up its game.( pun intended 😁).
@LogicStrikesAgain that’s a weird way to choose to interpret my comment. I never said you couldn’t post an observation. I posted my observation of your complaining. You CHOOSING to partake in a comment section, where you don’t like other people’s point of view is YOUR problem, not THEIR problem. Complaining that people complain while saying you knew prior to this and still participate very regularly, is very weird. And yes gaming communities CAN be toxic. I get that- I really do agree, but it comes with the territory. I know this and CHOOSE my level and frequency of involvement.
@LogicStrikesAgain and yet you still come here ( daily apparently) and read the comments. At some point you gotta stop blaming someone else for leaving the stovetop on when YOU KEEP TOUCHING THE HOT SURFACE. My instinct tells me your feelings are just hurt because people have a different opinion than yourself.
@TheArt oh I hope so. That would be awesome. Even when I only had an Xbox I still preferred Sony exclusives after watching my brothers on their PlayStations. From your lips to Gods ears.
@Krlozgod how is common sense confusing you? Sony thought they could “chip the rock” ( give a free sample) to get a big return on investment. Clearly that didn’t happen on a grand scale to make it profitable, or profitable enough. And from a gaming standpoint, if I could buy the same game on a system that I HAVE, why would I buy a different system? Where is the incentive? Also I don’t hear you saying the same about Nintendo. What is fanboy ish about stating that? Your comment sounds like you are upset that you won’t be able to play Sony games on a different system, rather than making any actual point.
Great news! This makes a lot of business sense. It strengthens the brand AND keeps Sony in control of pricing by not having to worry about the MFN clause. I see a lot of people saying, basically, that a sale is a sale. If Sony didn’t have their own console, I might agree. Sony, however, DOES have a console and driving sales away from a profitable console is not smart. Plus, pc people going to whine and bitch and moan but if they weren’t buying the games it’s farting in the wind. Who cares what they think? They had a chance to put their money where their mouth was, and overwhelmingly did not. I game on pc and I always will push for ps5 exclusives. Anybody that thinks that exclusives kill a business, has never heard of a small company called Nintendo…..Bravo Sony! Now, can we discuss other common sense changes?
Let’s call this what it is: someone doesn’t like a game that an opinion piece writer clearly did. The opinion piece writer gets their feelings hurt, and writes to their base (see also echo chamber). The echo chamber, predictably, starts attacking the person with personal insults instead of dismantling the merits of his argument. No real news was reported and the hive mind gets the dopamine hit from gladly bowing down to the opinion piece writer. I thought this was push square, not bluesky.
@Cry_Zero unfortunately there are people that dumb. That’s why this is still a thing. I like that one person called it a “fomo tax” that’s exactly what this has become.
@Reeneman same. To be fair, I’ve always seen this tactic as the “ you can open a gift before Christmas “ angle. I’m sure at the time it feels exciting , but each time it happens it diminishes the value of Christmas Day. This is just a different version of that. I don’t understand why they don’t just sell a pricier version of games that have the same release date. Of course I can still remember when people camped out at electronic stores for the midnight release of games. Ahhh those were the days, the games just felt that much more exciting.
Man after growing up hanging out in a pool hall, I just can’t play a pool game. They aren’t bad per se- but nothing matches the feeling of racking balls, or a real stick in my hand, talking to real people at the same time…and that smell of nostalgia….the occasional fistfight spilling into the alleyway over being hustled…a video game could never replace that
A) there are so many ways a show, that isn’t a game, gets ruined, canceled, and never picked up again. b) Not having Larian studios involved will guarantee a level of “creative license “ to alter and ruin something crucial. C) playing an awesome game a lot does not mean you can create a show and adhere to the lore faithfully. And D) that is a game specifically where a majority of fans have strong, non- swayable, feelings on things. IMHO this is a mistake.
@Frmknst for a “bad developer” they sure have massive sales numbers for their games. Glitchy launches? Sure long times in development? You bet. Bad developer? Well I’ll let the numbers, merchandise, and fanbase speak for itself. Also in regard to your request, NO.
@nomither6 I’d disagree. I gave it a try. Didn’t have any preconceived notion of what it was even until I tried it when my son suggested it. Played it with my kids actually. I don’t care much for that style of shooter. I don’t feel like I’m missing out. And frankly there are much better squad based shooters out there (like battlefield 6). My son used to love that OW2 and talk about it all the time now he doesn’t. I assume the player base died off. That it’s still around is news.
Currently playing Outter worlds 2. Loving it. The campy wit, the subtle slights at everything. Ahhhh more satisfying than aunties choice purple berry crunch. All kidding aside, not having a 3rd does not disappoint me. There is limited but enough re-playability in the first 2. What I don’t want to see is it turn into another assassins creed franchise. Mass Effect did well in its first trilogy, and I don’t think a third hurt the franchise, but I don’t think Obsidian could pull that off in this era. Too much competition.
I trust polls about as much as I trust politicians. I’m sure it’s very likely that these numbers PROBABLY are correct based on the success of the switch, and Xbox’s business decisions. The reality is What does it matter? Like I’m sure most Chefs prefer to make an exquisite meal over hot dogs and chips. Like how’s that news? Also you are only as good as the last competitor you beat. Being 2 times as good as something is not the same as being in the top. Lol I’m 2 times as good at typing than my daughter. That don't mean I’m going to win a typing award.
Tried to watch a couple of streamers play. One could never get in the server for about 20 minutes of loading. The other got kicked while playing. Then they got “strikes” for leaving early. Yeah I most certainly won’t be playing. Just a suggestion though, if you are trying to have a lot of people play on launch, at least be sure your servers are ready for the load.
@Dogbreath I see part of your point, however oblivion remake sold very well.i think it just depends on the franchise. I mean really these companies aren’t starting from scratch. The writing and creative side is already there. The marketing is cheaper these days what with the interwebs and all. It’s mainly getting old graphics tech into a newer engine.
Here’s a serious thought though. A lot of the game companies seem to be dominated now with business people. Not rel gamers anymore. What would happen if people like the gamers here, and other sites banded together and started making games? I bet they would be amazing. By gamers for gamers.

@Frmknst for a “bad developer” they sure have massive sales numbers for their games. Glitchy launches? Sure long times in development? You bet. Bad developer? Well I’ll let the numbers, merchandise, and fanbase speak for itself. Also in regard to your request, NO.
Re: Morrowind-Inspired Open World RPG Dread Delusion Adventures to PS5 This Spring
If the graphics are anything like the trailer nah. I’ll stick to Morrowind. Seems like an ok game but yeah I’m branded Elder Scrolls lol.
Re: Overwatch Ditches the 2, Launches 5 New Heroes in Blizzard's Bid to Revive the Shooter
Re: Rumour: Kingdom Come: Deliverance PS5 Version to Release Within a Week or So
Both 1&2 are amazing games. Don’t know that I could justify paying for a second version though. I doubt it would be free , but kinda hope it will be.
Re: Overwatch Ditches the 2, Launches 5 New Heroes in Blizzard's Bid to Revive the Shooter
Didn’t know overwatch was still a thing. Played it for like 2 hours one night. Meh. I’ve had better. I guess somebody will be excited (?).
Re: Xbox's Obsidian Seemingly Kills The Outer Worlds, Third Game Not Planned
Currently playing Outter worlds 2. Loving it. The campy wit, the subtle slights at everything. Ahhhh more satisfying than aunties choice purple berry crunch. All kidding aside, not having a 3rd does not disappoint me. There is limited but enough re-playability in the first 2. What I don’t want to see is it turn into another assassins creed franchise. Mass Effect did well in its first trilogy, and I don’t think a third hurt the franchise, but I don’t think Obsidian could pull that off in this era. Too much competition.
Re: GDC Survey Reveals Developers Are Twice as Interested in Making Games for PS5 Than Xbox
Re: Highguard Doesn't Do a Concord, But Reception Is Lukewarm
Tried to watch a couple of streamers play. One could never get in the server for about 20 minutes of loading. The other got kicked while playing. Then they got “strikes” for leaving early. Yeah I most certainly won’t be playing. Just a suggestion though, if you are trying to have a lot of people play on launch, at least be sure your servers are ready for the load.
Re: Prince of Persia Remake and 5 Other Games Cancelled by Ubisoft
@Dogbreath I see part of your point, however oblivion remake sold very well.i think it just depends on the franchise. I mean really these companies aren’t starting from scratch. The writing and creative side is already there. The marketing is cheaper these days what with the interwebs and all. It’s mainly getting old graphics tech into a newer engine.
Re: Prince of Persia Remake and 5 Other Games Cancelled by Ubisoft
Here’s a serious thought though. A lot of the game companies seem to be dominated now with business people. Not rel gamers anymore. What would happen if people like the gamers here, and other sites banded together and started making games? I bet they would be amazing. By gamers for gamers.
Re: Prince of Persia Remake and 5 Other Games Cancelled by Ubisoft
@Coolmusic they would but they can’t seem to figure out their ass from their elbows ( not sure that translates in European )
