It hasn't been long since Highguard was delisted and shut down, and it seems as though refunds for any purchases are beginning to come through.
Free-to-play online shooter Highguard lasted only a few weeks before developer Wildlight Entertainment pulled the plug, and now, some are reporting that Sony is getting in contact to let them know their money spent within the game is being returned to their accounts.
If you purchased the game's battle pass or any other in-game items with real money, it's possible Sony has emailed you regarding a refund.
As seen in the below post, it seems the money will return via your payment method, which is pretty standard.
For those who bought something in Highguard, it's worth checking your inbox or your accounts to see whether you've been issued a refund.
As this news comes to light, it appears that Wildlight Entertainment is scrubbing its online presence, suggesting it may be closing its doors.
The company's official website is no longer online, and it also doesn't show up on LinkedIn anymore. While no official announcement has been made regarding the studio's fate, this doesn't paint the most optimistic picture.
It's all pretty bleak stuff, but at the very least, it looks like those who spent any money while playing the game won't be short-changed.
Have you been issued a refund for your Highguard purchases? Tell us in the comments section below.

Good for those 5 guys!
Nice for everyone unlucky enough to back the game before the shutdown was announced.
I refused the refund because I believe the game will have a grand comeback. I also have loads of money to spare.
They kind of have to do this. People are already weary of investing their time and money into new games. If a game arrived, took people's money, then shut down with no refunds it would teach everyone that did trust in the game not to do that again.
Sony must have set aside at least $300 for the refunds
@Lup now they can afford burger and fries
Good call. Even if this leaves Sony out of pocket (IDK) it's a good thing to do from a PR perspective.
I hope this leads to more of these games being made. It's obviously working for every studio with a few dollar signs in their eyes
Obligatory comment comparing this game to Concord
Yay! Now do Marathon.
refunds for a free game-what a concept. Was it even out long enough for that many people to purchase stuff? Well maybe the studio is on High Guard for any disgruntled (former)player disparaging the game. see what I did there? Lol
@Leetware1 just look at the comments on the Reddit thread, some people already spent $60 on this free to play game in less than a month, assuming they did that before the shutdown announcement.
No wonder publishers want to invest in these live service games.
Maybe companies will think twice about cringy advertising segments on The Game Awards
Always a shame when these things don't work out. Glad that they are returning to those who supported them.
Gotta chase the dreams, not the trends.
Hopefully these guys can find new work and take their talent to new places and new IPs
