Ivy Road, the studio behind Wanderstop, will have to close its doors tomorrow, 31st March 2026, as it's failed to secure funding for the team's second project.
The developer calls the current industry climate a "tough time for raising game funds", as it shopped its new concept around to publishers, but a deal never came to fruition. It was pitching a new game called Engine Angel, which appears to be some kind of car combat title.
"It's a particularly tough time for raising game funds, so while we weren't necessarily surprised, we are disappointed that we won't be able to bring Engine Angel to life together as a team," a statement on the developer's official website reads.
As for Wanderstop, the first game the studio made together, it'll remain available on all platforms, and the team has "one last surprise" for players. Annapurna Interactive, the title's publisher, will have more news on that front in the future.
"Making games is incredibly challenging work: it requires technical skills, emotional investment, financial investment, a whole lot of long hours, and a bit of luck and serendipitous timing thrown in," the team's farewell message continues.
