Re: PlayStation Says Activision Blizzard Simply Must Remain Independent

Jeanhenry

@BusyOlf An Arsenal fan but that deal was disgusting, the first test of the so called fit and proper test and set the ball rolling for the other clubs that followed.

My main sport F1 now chasing more and more races that will cause burn out for all involved just to get more money then what's needed from corrupt regimes.

Not forgetting the stupid super league dreamt up by investment bankers, or maybe that should start with a W!

Will end up like Demolition Man with all that's left to eat is taco bloody bell.

Re: PlayStation Says Activision Blizzard Simply Must Remain Independent

Tbh I'm getting very sick of American companies and it's corporations trying to take over everything with enough is never enough greedy tax avoiding mentality. Sick of a country that's starting to look more and more like America with all it's greasy fast food outlets every 500 yards. Tired of the taking over of sports teams or whole sports purely to chase a bottom line.

Do yourself and your country a favour and buy from local independents or a national chain that will pay it's taxes that will in turn improve the country you live in and not line the bulging pockets of a wannabe spaceman and the like.

Re: Need for Speed Unbound Looks a Little Flat in Chunky PS5 Trailer

Jeanhenry

@Dezzy70 Wishful is good and a decent arcade racer would be nice. I'm usually towards the more serious end and enjoying the latest F1 game but some sideways action does break it up nicely. City looks good and the sounds sound good though so hope bit more to the gameplay to keep it interesting. Although half price in a January sale always helps to overlook some drawbacks.

Re: Need for Speed Unbound Looks a Little Flat in Chunky PS5 Trailer

Jeanhenry

@Dezzy70 I get your points but don't think it can guarantee a good game, especially judging on what's been shown so far. If you strip out the Crayola art style (which you obviously can) it doesn't come across as anything special. Also find it ironic that with all the loot box/gambling mechanisms EA have been getting stick for they've made gambling a big focus.

Re: 20 More PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Available Now on PS5, PS4

Jeanhenry

@Ravix Yeah that's why I posted so hopefully the powers that be could investigate further.

Fortunately I had added quite a few to my library and although not checked them all, the ones I have are still available to download. Did think maybe because now in library but they were still showing on the list as purchased up until the weekend.

Will have to go back through the blog posts to find any I've not added to library and see what they say now. Can't believe they've just suddenly expired and nobody has picked up on it and edging towards an error but knowing Sony of late anything is possible!

Re: 20 More PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Available Now on PS5, PS4

Jeanhenry

Any info on more games being removed?

When viewing the game collection through the app a couple of weeks ago and filtering for PS5 there was a total of 54. As of today it's down to 20. From memory Miles Morales, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Wreckfest have all disappeared plus a lot more. Have Sony done this on the sly and nobody has noticed yet?

Re: Random: Kendrick Lamar Fan Goes Viral for Recording Concert on PS Vita

Jeanhenry

@GuyProsciutto Nope just someone who loves music and going to gigs only to have them ruined for the vast majority of the paying audience by entitled little brats who don't think about anyone else let alone the terms and conditions of the tickets they've bought.

You sound like one of those people if you think it's acceptable, it isn't.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Thoughts on Protagonists Discussing Puzzles?

Jeanhenry

I don't mind them kicking in after a while of being stuck in the same spot but more of a hint like from the first uncharted and every naughty dog game since rather than outright telling you.

I wasn't posh enough to have a ps1 and the internet but would have appreciated a 'read the damm books' in RE1 which would have saved multiple hours of running back and forth trying to find something I already had.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS5) - Infinity Ward Proves It Knows Best

Jeanhenry

@gamer_since_83 There's seriously no hardcore mode? In not really fussed about the other things you mention but only ever play on hardcore. Was holding out for an Xmas sale but this would make me think again.

Could possibly be down to having no markers on the map that they've gone with one mode which is somewhere between core and hard but would still prefer a full on hardcore mode.

Re: PSVR2 Launches 22nd February 2023, Costs $550

Jeanhenry

Would love to experience some VR on PlayStation just for me none of the games so far are of any interest. If the next F1 is full VR compatible I'll snap one up on a heartbeat. Add a full VR Ace Combat and a decent GT game (7 was pants) update to Assetto Corsa with some other formally PC only racing games then I'll be in heaven.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 449

Jeanhenry

So far today I've been on Astrobot, Matrix tech demo and Horizon Forbidden West as I got my PS5 this morning. A very unexpected birthday present from the wife (did ask for a Ferrari) but an incredible and welcome surprise regardless. Thoroughly enjoying the new controller and hope other games utilise it as well as Astrobot going forward. F1 (the real thing) tonight whilst everything else downloads ready for tomorrow.

Re: Hardcore PlayStation Fans Seem Dead Against a Horizon Zero Dawn Remake or Remaster

Jeanhenry

Think you need to drop the hardcore tag and call us what we are, older OG gamers, geeks and fans of technology of a certain age just disappointed that the steep curve of innovation and development in games, consoles and tech we enjoy all plateaued a while back.

I'll be 43 in two weeks and my first console predates the C64, was a small box with 8 built in games that utilised an already black screen by adding a white dot and lines which you could move and represented a tennis racket. Add some goals you have football, move them sightly forward you had ice hockey. Then C64, master system, SNES, mega drive all improved on level design, character movement that came before.

Being a fan of Sony's innovation long before PlayStation with the Walkman, discman, TV's, hi-fi etc and never wanting the phaff of a PC I picked up PS1-4 at launch but breakthroughs in world building, character movement peaked once the PS3 was fully unlocked and it's just been refinement since then. SD to HD was huge but the jump to 4k really not so much. Due to accident I needed to a new TV in the run up to PS5 and got the Sony XH90 they recommended as being all compatible and the Atmos soundbar to match which both had numerous software glitches, then the PS5 launches with more glitches and no Atmos seemingly just to play a slightly prettier version of something you've already paid for and played to death. At that point a friend picked up 2 PS5'S and I grabbed his old Pro to experience 4k gaming for the first time and while it looks a bit better it's hardly innovative.

Now in a world where a new generation of gamers are happy to lap up and pay £20 for costumes and beanie babies firing guns and you read comments from people who have played a game multiple times and no interest in playing it again but then claim they'd be all over it if more shiny and the character can now do a backstep and shimmy to the left it's all rather underwhelming. Coupled with the cost of producing these now overly shiny games there's not much left other than further refinement and more exploitive nickel and diming tactics.

I've got the means and had many opportunities to grab a PS5 but every time I've just thought there really is no point and just a waste of money for slightly prettier already played games and quicker load times. I've got my fingers crossed for the PSVR2 & PS5 to bring a full VR F1, GT and other racing games to the home console market if not I'll be moving to the phaff of a PC for the next step I want and need from home gaming.

I do find it all incredibly ironic that the youngsters with their push for veganism and a less polluted world waste so much energy, time and money on a shinier version of something they already have. Let alone the waste in producing and shipping everything needed to see it.

So yeah not hardcore, just old, tired and underwhelmed by an industry bereft of anything that's really new and exciting anymore.

Re: Sony's Death Stranding Special Delivered to PC Game Pass on 23rd August

Jeanhenry

@get2sammyb lol. Nobody ever in the history of making a big deal of something actually starts by saying 'Hey I'm making a big deal of this'. That's just the view of the people who have been present to someone having their panties in a twist who's then got their soapbox out for a good old rant and rave about nothing of any real importance. So yes it very much does come across as you making a big deal of it.

Maybe just start a new Friday feature and call it Sammy's Soapbox. You can unload your perceived injustices in the Sony universe and get it off your chest in tone for a relaxing weekend. Everyone else can unwind from the week with a good old fashioned laugh.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Gran Turismo 7?

Jeanhenry

A generous 3. Micro transactions rubbish aside, the game is just boring as F and more stale than a 25 year old loaf. There's just no content, after spending more time in the cafe then the cast of EastEnders you feel like the game will kick on but it just doesn't.

It's really hard to believe this came from people that had anything to do with any of the previous games. For years we've heard people want a return to classic single player rather than the Sport release but Sport has far more content to keep you occupied. There's no decent Gr championships, no endurance it's just all missing.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's New Approach to Microtransactions Isn't Going Down Well

Jeanhenry

This really isn't a good look for Sony and one of it's flagship games. Adding them to the last few was bad but the mobile economy of this is ridiculous. A stupid tacky ticket system for levelling up which as it turns out is also the same for completing the daily marathon, albeit a shiny silver version. A 1 in 5 chance now to add to your collection which will make duplicates you can't sell all the sweeter. A great game returning the old school vibe ruined by new age shake you upsidedown completely unnecessary greedy tactics.

Re: Sifu Updates to Include Difficulty Settings and Accessibility Options

Jeanhenry

@RubyCarbuncle Surely as a fully fledged adult with increasing grumpy old Man tendancies you would have learnt by now that something's are just beyond you. And yes you either need to up yourself physically, mentally etc or admit to yourself it's not for you or rather you're not for it. Should Ferrari stop building hardcore track weapons because not everyone can handle them, or maybe you're 7'5" and sports cars should be banned because you don't fit in one. The world would be boring if everyone could do the same, partly as it'll be empty as we all enjoy personal space travel but mainly because there'd be nothing left to challenge anyone.

Re: Talking Point: Is Sony Being Stingy with PS5's First-Party Pricing?

Jeanhenry

I think £70 is too expensive especially when were £50 previously. Also I haven't seen anybody mention that PS4 games have had an artificial hike to £60 to justify the £10 upgrade price as there would be much more commotion if the upgrade was £20. As I'm on PS4 I'm not buying anything at the moment due to the additional hike and a backlog to clear.

That said, Sony have had amazing sales on first party titles on the store throughout PS4 life and imagine will happen again going forward once more PS5'S in homes.

Also in Sony's favour is that unlike their competitors, their titles aren't riddled with micro transactions.

Re: God of War Wins IGN's Big Best Video Game of All Time Poll

Jeanhenry

@Slippship Scrolling to see if anyone else mentioned the C64 as where started for me. Also around 84 but as a 5yo.

Can't remember the ninja series but loved CJ the elephant series from codies. Also Run the Gauntlet based on the TV series, played that to death and would like both to make a comeback.

So many others I just can't remember and that's still before master system etc. Wouldn't even want to try and narrow down my favourite game as just been so many over the years. However, not too include the birth of gaming in the poll is all kinds of wrong.

Re: Hands On: Why You Should Be Hyped for Returnal, the Next Great PS5 Exclusive

Jeanhenry

@GamingVeteran No, everyone is not ok paying 1000 for a phone every 2 years. Plus the console is closer to 500 and will last 4 times longer. Kids living at home sign up for the latest phones at extortionate prices, adults with bills and responsibilities don't. Personally I pay £10pm sim only that gets me more service and data than I ever need. Then buy a new phone as and when needed, usually around every 3.5 - 4 years and pick up a handset that's 18 months old for a 1/3 of it's launch price.

Similarly I have to be sensible with my money when it's comes to gaming and cannot afford, either financially or with time to buy and play every game at launch. Sure there are a few exceptions, Naughty Dog, Rockstar, F1 plus some others for me but anything else and I'll be waiting for the inevitable sale. That's even with pricing from £45-55 for fully fledged AAA games. Now with the £70 hike I, like many others will have to be even more frugal with my money AAA or not. But £70 for this really is a joke no matter how many people try and defend it.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy a PS5 Remake of The Last of Us?

Jeanhenry

@KundaliniRising333 You claim to be insulted by remakes and remasters then claim you won't pay full price for one if released on PS5. But then state you have paid full price for a PS4 game and not played it due to waiting for an assumed PS5 upgrade, which lets call it what it is. A remaster, something which apparently insults you! Just play the game and move on, looked stunning on my base PS4. Waiting for a so called free upgrade for a different system is just adding to the problem.
