Re: PS5 Coil Whine Complaints Intensify as System Launches in Europe

@figboot Maybe not to you but what about anyone else in the house? I regularly play with headphones on while fiancé watches TV in the same room. If the console was making that noise it would be a big issue.

I doubt the microphones used in the videos do it justice either. Sounds very high pitched and something that I'd find very noticeable without headphones as well.

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

Jeanhenry

An unfortunate accident in the house led to a purchase of the XH9005 in 55" replacing an old Sony 48" 1080p set. Still rocking a base PS4 but the improvement especially with HDR was very noticeable. Was purchased with the PS5 in mind at a later date and sure it will excel.

However few issues with the TV. When using eARC you'd suddenly just lose sound to the soundbar. Would play if switched to TV speakers but not when back to bar without restarting TV. Also sync was a major issue, good second delay between picture and sound. Switched to optical and all has been well since on the sound front. However TV also randomly emits a high pitched signal and restarts itself, has been up to 3 times a day or can go days without doing.

Don't think it's anything that can be cured with updates as it's had several already. Just waiting to get it replaced now.

Edit. Another issue was if on PS4 and using Netflix or sky, sometimes going back to the home screen would confuse the TV. It would lose picture and display like the device has turned off. Worst Sony product I've had out the box from Sony and that includes a TV that didn't even turn on. New Atmos soundbar to match only connects the sub 50% of time as well, grrrr.

Re: PS5 Fan Noise First Impressions Are Promising

Jeanhenry

@SirAngry Did you not go further and clean the fan and heat sink at the same time? That was mistake I made when I did mine. Did again and the amount of dust and fluff around fan was crazy, half heat sink was blocked as well. Once those cleaned was like brand new.

Re: Sony Considered Xbox Series S-Style PS5, Doesn't Think Lower Spec Models Have Had Success

Jeanhenry

Just sounds like more BS to me. People want to use their consoles for up to 7 years and not feel outdated within a couple of years. Hello PS4 pro, never got one but did feel like a kick in the nuts to my original purchase. Now we won't have a lesser PS5, perhaps because the PS5 is already playing second fiddle to the inevitable pro model. Bit rich as well to rubbish Microsoft plan when it's in affect the two PS4 model albeit launching at the same time.

Re: PS5 Can Generate Haptic Feedback from Sound Effects

Sounds a lot like the tech in the new logitech wheel, which I've heard nothing but praise about. Look forward to going hands on and hope other wheel makers follow suit as well. This is more next gen to me though than slightly better graphics. More immersion through this and new technologies like ray tracing and 3D audio. Look forward to seeing what a PSVR2 is capable of, I'm dreaming of retinal tracking although is just a dream but could you imagine? Anyhow, PS5 better be capable of running F1, GT and the like in full VR or I'm still not investing.

Re: PS5 Won't Play PS3, PS2, or PS1 Games

Jeanhenry

@playstation_king My PS3 was! Not by choice as all launch machines were. Only ever used it for one game though, GT and that was only after a year or more due to the never ending wait for a PS3 version.

Really don't get the lead up to the next gen. Seems everyone can't wait to get a new machine just to play old games, madness! Life is too short and time too precious, like an old job or partner, you don't go back. If you're not ready to move on, don't. I know for the first time I won't be getting a PS at launch. Way too many games on 4 still left to play for that.
