Top 3 games are so well deserved. What an absolute banger year. Hoping there aren't too many more releases (Hellblade 2 and Trails to Day break all I can think of now). Plan to get to Balatro soon, and will pick Unicorn Overlord up maybe by the summer.
@Stevemalkpus this has bugged me since PS Stars started and I hear people brag about getting games for points. Why spend 15,000 points on Sekiro when you could redeem for $60, and then buy Sekiro for $15 when it's on sale every other month. The only argument that kind of makes sense is for new games. Essentially you get them a little cheaper as you don't get charged tax when buying with points.
Rebirth followed closely by Infinite Wealth for me. After a few attempts I have to realize DD2 ain't for me. Excited to try Balatro, Unicorn Overlord and probably a dozen other games on that list.
60fps all the way. The difference between quality mode and performance is so small visually that I barely can tell a difference. However give me a controller on something running 30fps and it's a deal breaker. Need to be 60fps and there's no excuses for games to not run at 60 anymore.
Played a bit of it yesterday. Surprisingly buggy unfortunately. Had to quit and restart three times and redo an objective during the first tutorial career mode level to get credit. But I love these management games and a high quality one will always be a day one purchase.
Stick of Truth and Fractured but Whole were sooooo good. This was an immediate pass for me after the first reveal trailer. Glad the writing and voice performance is still top notch though. That's what sets them apart from a lot of licensed games is where Matt and Trey are so heavy handed in the game itself
@ShogunRok yup exactly not ideal. Also I'm confused why they gave us an option to create 5 characters in the demo when we can only have 1. So this possibility never even crossed my mind
Only a couple hours in but I'm already regretting my purchase. When I heard only one save slot I assumed that was per character to avoid save scumming. I didn't realize you couldn't make alt characters! That's absurd. Games like this I typically end up making all 4 classes before I ever even finish the game with 1. I guess I can start one on another profile, but that's just tedious and unnecessary.
@Peelmynaner Its a point and click styled adventure game. Has an old film noir setting, with a buddy cop setup, but the main gimmick is all the characters are animals.
Highly recommend Chicken Police. One of the few instances of trying a game ive never even heard of on the service and I absolutely clucking loved it. Worth the play, and hopefully we get the sequel and the Coffee Talk style spinoff game to consoles as well.
I loved the first Helldivers and was very skeptical about the switch to 3rd person. Honestly didn't think it would perform well at all. Boy was I wrong.
Been a long time since I've played a tennis game, and I would be excited. But I'm so cynical with sports/gambling simulators now a days. Even though the micro transactions already seem to be there, hopefully it'll be a couple iterations before the reach their final form with gambling influencers opening card packs on stream and faking surprise as they get their double elite legendary platinum Richard Krajicek card.
Absolutely outstanding game that expands and improves on its predecessor in every way. With all due respect to Elden Ring and BG3 (not really my genres of choice), this is my game of the generation so far.
Phenomenal developer, but I'm concerned about the commercial success of this game. A full priced strategy RPG releasing at the time of a lot of heavy hitters is going to unfortunately get it overshadowed. I'll be buying it, but not sure when that will be just yet.
Still mind boggling to me the output from Falcom. Feels like it takes longer to simply play one of their games than it takes them to develop one from scratch.
In my opinion AC is only as good as it's setting. I've never found the gameplay or story to be compelling in AC games, but you better believed I loved exploring ancient Egypt and Greece, but found exploring swamplands of England quite boring in Valhalla. Hopefully Japan setting will be great to explore.
Game looks phenomenal. Leaving the screen still I can barely tell the difference between fidelity and performance (on my LG OLED). But once you start moving the camera I don't understand how 30fps is playable. It's soooo choppy. Performance all the way and game still looks gorgeous.
@themightyant lol I agree in the sense that they need a more broad category. Most years don't have 5 fighting games period, non the less worthy of an award nomination. Hopefully we see more beat em ups like streets of rage and sifu.
Similar to Arkham Knight having a large jump in player count after Suicide Squad. Good games are timeless in a way. Just need a failed live service AAAA game to remind us of that at times.

Leave it to someone who hides their face to break the review embargo.
Re: Huge PS Plus Clearout Confirmed for May, 25 Games Leaving
Wow that's a lot. Definitely seem to have hit the point where we are losing more than we are adding.

Hopefully this is an actual golf game and not another caddie dating simulator.
Re: $130 Version of Star Wars Outlaws Under Fire as Ubisoft Prices Increase
It's Ubisoft. Aren't we all conditioned to wait a month and buy it on sale at this point? Will probably be $20 on black friday
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite PS5 Game of 2024 So Far?
Rebirth followed closely by Infinite Wealth for me. After a few attempts I have to realize DD2 ain't for me. Excited to try Balatro, Unicorn Overlord and probably a dozen other games on that list.
Re: $70 Games Are Just a Phase, Believes Saber Interactive CEO
As if publishers would ever reduce price. Reminds me of people thinking they would stop micro transactions in full priced games if they became $70.

Re: Tekken 8 Boss Says Younger Players Prefer Team-Based Games Because They Can Blame Losses on Others
This statement isn't Harada's fault, his PR team clearly dropped the ball on this one.
Re: Tales of Kenzera: ZAU Also a Day One PS Plus Extra Game, Out 23rd April
This should at least save us weebs a few dollars thinking it's a new "Tales of" game and realizing later it is a metroidvania.
Re: Tekken 8 Director Responds to Legions of Fans Requesting Waffle House Level
If I can play as Tifa beating up drunks at a Waffle House I would make Tekken 8 my first fighting game purchase.
Re: New PlayStation CEO Hiroki Totoki Starts Temporary Role Today
Hopefully in between sacking studios and issuing mass layoffs he finds the time to start a Literature Club.
Re: Upcoming PS5 Games for April and May 2024
Some much needed catching up on my backlog is in my future. Hard to even call it a backlog since it's all recent games too.
Re: Joker's Free Suicide Squad DLC Now Available on PS5
That's awesome that Joker is being added, but why is the clip showing Mary Poppins flying around a neon laser light show?
Re: PS Plus Premium's Classic Catalogue Seemingly Adding Star Wars Rebel Assault 2 Next Month
I loved the first Revel Assault on PC as a kid. I never even knew they made a sequel, nonetheless ported it to console. I may check this out.

Re: Next Final Fantasy 16 Patch Makes Side Quests Quicker, Adds Ability Loadouts, and More

Love this game. My GOTY last year. Excited to replay on PS5 and go for the practically impossible platinum.
