Sony said 2024 would be a dry year for PS5, but Astro Bot’s just walked away with Game of the Year at The Game Awards – and three others. Helldivers 2 also took home two gongs, rounding out a big night for PlayStation.

During his acceptance speech for Game of the Year, director Nicolas Doucet – a PlayStation veteran who previously worked at London Studio – paid tribute to executives like Hermen Hulst and Scott Rohde, both of which were instrumental in bringing Astro Bot to life.

But he also had a message for Nintendo, thanking them for pushing the industry forward with franchises like Super Mario and introducing him to the platforming genre in 1989.

Astro Bot also won awards for Best Game Direction, Best Action/Adventure Game, and Best Family Game, making it the most successful title of the night. You can view the full list of winners through here.
