@Axyuji I have 3.2 4Tb with only about 1Tb of ps4 games on it. I haven't seen this error yet but haven't play any long sessions off the hard drive yet. Launched a few games to get them on the main menu and my kids played Minecraft for about an hour.
@God_of_Nowt Just curious you said the option was there on older OS ver. If out of the box before updating it may allow it still. Not that it would be helpful can't download anything without doing an update just for my curiosity. Like maybe Astros could be moved over.
@God_of_Nowt Now the ps5 is going senile forgeting what it knew before. I hope this was taken out because they found something during testing they didn't find worked smoothly and will be added back shortly after launch. This will only encourage consumers with disc version to purchase physical media instead of downloading. More used games being purchased not good for developers.
@God_of_Nowt Okay thanks thought I was maybe going senile. I mean I understand having games ready to go at a moment's notice would be ideal. Also that maybe some people like to juggle 20-30 games at a time. Its just not at all an issue for my playing style. When eventually prices go down that convenience may be worth the money but right now it's not to me.
Was this article updated because I could have sworn when I read it around lunch time it said you could not transfer PS5 games to external hard drives. I have not been stressing about upgrading the internal because I don't see any issue with having a one-two minute transfer. To play something that I haven't played in a while. Having 5x the storage for half the price is worth a the transfer wait to me.
@Angelus3K I would use it over native for certain connection benefits. PS5 is already hard-wired has a more stable connection than the wifi that type of situation
@nessisonett There were no test done, it was an estimation. Calculated by comparing SoC die size and fan sizes. Those estimations very well may be correct depends on the maths.
I think it's a cool feature. I don't play a lot of MP but I could see myself jumping from a frustrating difficult part of a game into something more arcadie to reset the frustration level. My kid definitely jumps from game to game with his party. COD, Rocket League, 2K, Fortnite, Minecraft, Madden all in a 2 hour session. Short attention spans.
@crimsontadpoles Been looking for the answer to that question for quite a while. Some articles have said yes, some make it sound like it has been confirmed not to work. I like to think it will of course. Cerny said that if you are looking for extended storage for ps5 games that ideally you would use an SSD. But in the context of that statement I think he was referring strictly to the playing of ps5 games not using it as an archive.
@God_of_Nowt Good point on the time not wasted. I would be fine with the ps4 version too but didn't purchase. PS4 games look visually phenomenal to me still. Im still rocking a 1080 plasma hoping to upgrade TV before launch. Biggest reason for upgrading to PS5 for me is because I need a second console and why not get the newest. I preordered demon souls and was thinking about spidy ultimate because I haven't played the first one. Like I said in my original comment I assumed this was being marketed to people like me. I would be fine with the original for the extra $30 a package together.
@NEStalgia So fairly a new thing at least in my perspective. I haven't purchased a game since Bloodborne. (My 15 year old hijacked my PS4 5 years ago) So was there a higher res PC version of this made when it originally came out? If so it should just be a patch for existing owners. If not I understand them trying to recoup some of their development cost. But also agree it was a waste of time ether way should have just used that time towards new products.
I don't quite understand what all the fuss is about. Is this a new thing or since when are game developers required to put out free upgrades to 2 year old games. It seems like this is marketed to people that skip the original. What other two year old single player story based game is putting out an enhanced version for free.

@legalstep What sort of problems would you see with allowing a storage only capability?
