@Grimwood Problem is who decides what's the best of the best? I have loved games that everyone else is indifferent to. For example WET, Lollipop Chainsaw, Dirt 2/3, Horizon Chase Turbo (plat), etc. It would be a pity to only have the chance to play critic darlings if they are not your thing, E.G. The last of us. I prefer rise of the tomb raider.

@Neolit If somebody is buying a RACING game based on gender representation, I think they are in the wrong hobby. I am quite certain that in prior reviews of great Racing games like Gran Turismo Sport, Drive Club, DC Bikes or Crash Team Racing, they never, NOT ONCE in any of the 4 reviews, mention gender representation. My point being if you mention THAT in your bullet point summary, you make the game look mediocre and cheap because in a racing game you want to buy based on Physics, Driver AI, Variety of Tracks, Number of Cars, Arcade vs. Sim, Sense of Speed, Price, Microtransactions, Season passes, not on gender representation. This game is a 7/10, IT IS REALLY FUN and it is a pity that none of the (more important) above points is mentioned in the bullet point summary. They didn't do it for the other more famous games and this one needs all the good publicity it can get.

P.S.: I love the fact that our discussion has been longer than the actual review. Gotta love Push Square. This is one of my top reasons to love this site: great gamers and passionate fans in the comments

@Neolit I find it really hard to believe thats the THIRD best thing about the game though. Ps plus one was very good, and I can think of at least 5 things more impresive than the gender of the rider on that one. Just like Aloy gender is not even the 10th best thing about HZD or the gender of a certain Lara is not the best thing about the awesome recent Tomb Raider trilogy.

How does creating a female rider affect the gameplay?

Sekiro is not even top 5 in the GOTY list. In any case Bloodborne or Dark souls were more important in their years, and are still better games today. It seems to me this is a lifetime achievement award in a year with no clear cut favourites. RE2 was near perfect but was a remake. Control was great but ran like crap and was not optimized at all, Death Stranding was divisive. DMC5 and SWJ:FO should have been nominated. The most amicable and safe choice was the game no one will remember in 5 years when thinking about 2019 gaming.
