There was a period, prior to release, where Koei Tecmo proclaimed Dead or Alive 6 would be slightly less suggestive than its predecessors. Of course, the publisher knows exactly what makes the property popular, and quickly populated the sequel with all sorts of bikinis and bondage costumes. Now it’s back with a brand new DLC character, and it’s forgotten all about its past words and deeds.
Tamaki, a character from Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation, is joining the fight – and you can catch a glimpse of her posterior in the trailer embedded above. She’ll be part of Season Pass 4, although no date has been confirmed at the time of typing. Any interest in this impending add-on? Keep it clean in the comments section below.

The sexy characters and cheesecake are a pretty integral aspect of the series' aesthetic identity. Trying to remove that element was never going to go over well.
The only objectionable thing about DOA6 is the crazy cost of all the DLC.
Scandalous!
I do find it hilarious that in the US ratings, M stands for Mature. Clearly, this sorta titillation is anything butt 😉
Cool. Won't get the season pass but if the price isn't stupid I'll add this character to the roster.
Maybe Sony had a change of heart recently and let the developers do what they intentionally wanted to do? I haven’t heard anything censorship-related for months now. :/
To be fair, DOA6 is a little more tamed than some of past games. Some costumes are censored compared to DOA5, and the bikini’s seem to be more on the safe side if you ask me. I enjoy this game but Tecmo still could have done a better job with this. And these season pass are ridiculous. And don’t get me started with the hair color change.
I fail to understand outrage over a game some clearly just don't want.
Why they flock to look at it and jump to the keyboard. I have never purchased a DOA game but its because of the amount and cost of DLC. Creative freedom and informed buying choices is whats best.
Ah! There's where the fit birds are!
I remember when they tried doing that, then the sales tanked and a month after release steam charts showed more people playing DOA5. I guess 6 was the dead.
I remember that time of new-found maturity. It was the time I decided I wouldn´t buy DoA6 any more.
Hey, Team Ninja, give me boobs or give me MKX quality. Your choice.
@Lando_ That Or They Are To Busy To Care Anymore
Not that I'm s prude or anything but that costume is ridiculous ha ha ! Gone from one extreme to the other. How much is that DLC ? Asking for a friend 😉
@Areus
Unfortunately, I also think that Sony simply forgot to care, due to PS5-preparations. Sony is too... proud, mildly formulated, to pull back censorship policies.
"Season Pass 4" Damn either the content from the base game was barebones and love to sell the whole thing in little pieces or they really love add characters from whatever game they can with tons of outfits
I don't blame them. They tried, but gamers rejected it. Now they're trying to appeal to them with fun-service. Sad, but that's all they have left.
My advice to developers is stay true to what you want to make, if impossibly proportioned ninjas are your cup of tea, then by god, go put that kettle on.
I remain perplexed as to why anything remotely sexual is exploitative and shameful while murder and torture in video games passes the Hollywood seal of approval?
@JohnKarnes That's the funny thing, it wasn't outrage that caused the game to be less sexy initially. If you look at quotes from the creator it looks like he's just tired of DOA being fanservice sticking out so much. He wanted the game to be judged more by gameplay than the sexiness. It wasn't moral puritians so much as just wanted to make a game and focus on it being a fighting game more. He was tired of the sexy anime thing. Outrage is why it's more sexy, because the community got upset by what the creator wanted to do. I guess they like $80 season passes too much. I mean, can you blame the guy for wanting to not make a game known for multiple $80 season passes? I mean the characters were still attractive, just with less crazy costumes and jiggle.
@Jakovasaur As you can read above, this actually was the opposite of the creator doing what he wanted.
@Jaz007 That's assuming every word said in that interview was honest, it's quite possible they had a change of mind (not heart) in the hope of gaining some credibility in the competitive eSports space, that didn't work out, so back to promoting butts and boobs front and centre, or should that be front and rear?
@Jakovasaur He honestly sounded frustrated, and I mean if you're passion is in the main part of the game play, the fighting, would you rather see your game in E-sports where that's focused and celebrated, all the game mechanics you poured your heart and soul into, or $80 season passes? Especially after making so many of them DOAs, I see the later grating a bit. The E-sports focus would also allow post-launch support to focus more on the gameplay as well.
It also shows your talent more if people are playing a fighting game competitively. I personally believe him. I see why you question it a bit, but it really didn't sound like PR speak to me. People evolve over time, what he wanted was reasonable.
Hah I only bring it up as one of a Game Directors function is to help market the game, whether it is a genuine position or not, who knows? I have not bought a DOA game in about 20 years, hopefully they set out to what they aimed to achieve.
@ArmyofOne
I actually knew girls in college who liked the game for the sexiness, especially for Xtreme Beach Volleyball. They saw it as inspirations for cosplay or because they just had no problem with sexuality as a natural and human thing. This was in a very liberal city in the early 2000s, too, and the metoo analogues (both guys and girls) then just thought it was stupid, but didn't try to get it banned.
@Jaz007
It's possible to have both. Capcom and SNK both manage to deliver games that play great and have some cool fan service too. But I know most people, especially here in the West, hate fun. Murder, torture, that's all ok. A woman character in a bikini? You're a virgin if you like that... It's pretty stupid.
