It was finished at launch. Worked great out of the box on my base ps5. I dont mind getting stuff later. I would have liked the ability of replaying missions at start but if it meant waiting another two months,no im fine with it coming when it did.
I love the console,it did everything i was hoping for. What i dont like is they took too long making exclusive ps5 games frim their studios showing what it can do. Chasing live service was a bad ideal from the beginning and sony should have known that. But i guess all they could see was dollar signs. I expect the console to be great its last few years though. Ive heard rumors of 2027 for ps6 but i would prefer 2028 at earliest. It might depend on when xbox decides theirs. If they do release earlier and try to do what they did this gen and just live off of crossgen title and remasters, i might wait for the ps6 pro. Maybe pick up a ps5 pro before.
Im about halfway through yotei, just want to state that. I dont buy many games anymore so i spend more time in each. I loved tsushima, to me it was about perfect so i dont think yotei ever had the chance to really be lots better. But i think they managed that with the combat. Lots of option with different playstyles and the game rewards you for switching up your weapons. Stealth though not great in tsushima was def better than yotei. Some stealth mechanics are introduced a little late in my opinion in yotei if at all. Developers obviously wanted to encourage you to use the varied fighting systems but i think thats a choice that should be left to the player. Also the story of revenge and the fact the character is fighting from the shadows would dictate a nore stealthy approach and better mechanics to match. World wise yotei is better far as exploring and enjoying all tbe activities though i enjoyed that in tsushima. Its not a big improvement, more minor improvement which is fine. On the story, i liked jins better on the face of it. But i think they do a far better job with atsu especially in the sidequest showing how she goes from someone that only cares about revenge to actually caring about the land around her. Though because of the open nature of how you can do lots of stuff in any order, some tbings can be out of character for her new found attitudes. So overall yotei is better in the story department because of the side stuff. But i think the main story line is a little too predictable and the writing hasnt really impressed me. Overall yotei is an improvement but i can see why some think its too much of the same. I am in the camp that instead of doing another game in the series right away, they should do something different next. I would appreciate some story expansion that focuses on rebuilding her home and personel relationships..
To the fact they have been showing lots of trailers, they are all mostly just snippets and use a lot of the same video as the others so not really giving away a lot. Ill be there day one. Been still clawing away at shadows and expect this to be far better. While im going to miss the combat and feel of the first game which truly made you feel like a samurai, ill get used to what they are going for.
I never played this, i started with dq8 which is one of my all time if not all time best games. I never really liked 2d graphics and especially not after 3d came out. So ill be picking this up day one.
Im a huge fan of the series and im very much looking forward to horizon 3. But i have no interest in multiplayer of any game. I think them going wirh a more styleized look with this is a plus. I think it has possibilities but ultimately time will tell.
@PuppetMaster well i consider lore gameplay. Games like fallout have lots of lore and intersting stories but dont have long cutscenes so it is possible to make games that do it well if you have a good team. This game seems to be a clone of stellar blade in lots of ways and thats ok. I like stellar blade but i dont love it for reasons already mentioned. So if gameplay is all you want then thats fine, get the game. But i expect more from a game for my hard earned money so more than likely this game will get a pass from me.
It does look flashy. It reminds me a lot of stellar blade and a little of ff16. I dont know though. Im not big on this post apoctalyptic run in games. If its like fallout i can be down with it because of the lore but these games really dont invest into the lore enough. Its mainly just window dressing for big battles. So it may be a no go for me as beautiful as it looks. These games also require very little writing or any good writing anyway.
The article and lots of comments are nauseating. If you feel the state of play was not great , you are entitled to that view just the same as if you liked the state of play. Its a personal choice. You also have the same right to make your voice heard. I personally usually like their state of plays, not love them, realizing that not every game is made for me. This one i felt was just ok. Sure there were a couple games i thought were interesting, midnight walk, hell is us, a couple others i def need to see more to really form an opinion. The housemarque game i felt was just a waste of time or just to have one main sony title showing. Some gameplay even if it was just a minute would have been great. If they dont have that to show, that game isnt coming for a long while. True sony is in this situation because of investing too much into live service but that is their own fault. They dont get a reprieve for it. How a table of people could agree to such nonsense based on sonys past is remarkable. Now i know big games are usually thought of as showcase titles but they havent had those for a while due to the live service debacle and other things. I believe there was the opportunity to show at least some small snippets of the bigger games gameplay. At this point we are well into the ps5 lifespan, i think seeing games that really showcase the console and the need for it is an easy ask regardless of other factors. Now i know that microsoft is bringing lots of its titles to ps but their game showings have totally blown sonys away as of late in my opinion. Where sonys main games are at may keep them from really competing, they could at least offer the glimmer of hope from the other side.
Im not for or against first person, as long as the game works for what it is. Like some said, would be nice if you could change it but maybe there is a reason. I would caution praising it because they make wolfenstein which were great games. However wolfenstein no matter what is a shooter. This game is not from what ive heard. Its supposed to be a stealth adventure game where you can shoot some but i wouldnt expect you to just shoot your way out of problems. Stealth is great but it can be hard to pull off, too much stealth and the adventuring dries up. I dont mind the cutscenes, used to it with sony. Far as length. I think about 20 hours would be fine if thats the standard for reviewers. That means ill prob get more cause i always go over the hours reviewers say. Best thing for me is i only own a ps5, so ill probably get the more done version right away plus ill have plenty of information to base off whether i should get it or not.
Well im very near the end but havent quite beat it. I gave it an 8 but its probably closer to a 9 in reality. Really only minor gripes. I do think the mannequins are oveeused and the radio doesnt pick them up right away anyway. Particularly bad in the last area. I would have preferred a new different type of enemy later in the game. I did feel the hospital and particularly the prison/labyrinth areas dragged on too long. Personally i would have preferred they made the town a little bigger instead of making those areas longer. Also opening up more of the buildings and areas. Walking around the streets and shops is my favorite part of the game. I hate it when games lock you out of places you should be able to go. It was probably this way in the original but i didnt get too far in it. To me the difficulty is fine. I find it not that easy on light mode. I did start out on normal, its not much different anyway but chose to go to light hoping id get more stuff. Same with puzzles. I went light and still had to google a few. I was fine with puzzles back in the day but now i just feel they take me out of the experience. All these nitpicks are minor though, totally enjoying the game.
Usuallywhen a game is priced under the usual, people have a right to be suspect. But not always. I do think its a good move on their part as a new team with a new IP to price it lower. As a new developer. I think its more important to get more eyes on your game as opposed to hoping people take notice and are willing to fork out 70 dollars. Depending on the games being released around it, lots of times games like this from new publishers, get left behind. Being a little cheaper, people may be willing to get two games or if deciding between games, the lower price may be a deciding factor.
I always get a kick out of comments on the horizon series. Its amazing how people who hate a series love to spend time on its comments board saying how bad it is. If theres an article on a game site about a game series i dont care for, i skip past that article. Why read about something i would have zero interest in or go to the comments just to say stuff not really related to the article. Far as the article, my understanding of one of the reasons for the remasters is to give new people something to work on to get better for other projects. Makes sense to me, they have new games being made so it isnt like new games arent being worked on. Will i get the upgrade, im not sure. Ive already beaten both games and their dlcs and spent hundreds of hours in each one. So i dont see myself going back since i have other unfinished games to play. But one never knows. Its my favorite series so there is always a chance.
I love the horizon games, the first one was my favorite game of the ps4 gen and the sequel is my favorite this gen so far, both dlcs were great. They showed this a while ago far as a sneak peek. It had stylized type graphics, more toon than realistic. I dont know if thats since changed. Personally i dont care for multiplayer or live service for that matter so i wont be playing it. Far as the third game, i wasnt really expecting it before the very end of this gen or a launch ps6 game. Hopefully people give it a shot
Im def down for some dlc though it would be a while before i would get it. I have limited gaming time and i still have lots of exploring to go. Its easily my favorite game this year so far though ff rebirth and stellar blade are good.
@Kelrics90 well the first one has been out a lot longer obviously and this one wil continue to sell. May not catch the first one but that doesnt mean this one wasnt successful.
I think its an excellent game. I loved the first but this one improved a good bit on it. Only thing i didnt like is with the costumes. I felt that each should have at least one unique ability and you should have the ability to stack some of those on a limited number of favorites as you got more. As is they are just cosmetic.
I don't think it's bad in a vacuum. I didn't even realize they had a dragons dogma dark arisen version for PS4 so I'll be all over that. Loved the game on PS3. Klonoa and grandia are good. Still not good enough to justify price increase though. My subscription is up come December 18. May drop down. Depends on the black Friday deal though, I may do that
I'm down with it for sure. Loved the first game. I'm already pushed for time to play but still getting it and rebirth. Probably means I'll be a little more picky about what other games I buy.

I don't really have an issue with Ragnarok winning most of the awards. Back in 2018 I had zero dawn as slightly better but this year I have Ragnarok slightly better than forbidden west though because I haven't finished either it's subject to change. But forbidden west should have won for best graphics. I think Ragnarok is more held back by the PS4 than forbidden west is. Both look great but forbidden west visuals on the different tribes and underwater alone put it above the rest. Far as elden ring, fun game but otherwise just like most from games kind of shallow. I had it at number five this year behind those 2 and Gran Turismo and stray.
I personally don't like the weapon degradation and the survival stuff but to hold that against the game is kind of unfair since it is a survival game at heart. The lore basically tells you that. I did hold that against breath of the wild because Zelda had never had that stuff and didn't need it to be good. This is a new ip. Now I totally agree about the button synch issues. I have found 4 beast but only taken down the one so far. But I do like how they make a puzzle out of fighting them instead of just finding them and climbing like sotc. I think you have to do a different scale when reviewing these games with small development teams and that are lower priced so I don't agree with a 5 but the button synch issue is a big thing in a game that totally depends on that so I think that's it's only real flaw though a big one. So my score would be a 7.
I also think them giving us the ability to stop level scaling was great. I highly recommend doing that unless you just want a challenge every step of the way.
I actually look at this game kind of like Skyrim. There is always a lot to do but a lot of it is just fun really not necessary stuff but just fun. Also I've had it since launch but go away for a while to play another, then get back into it. Kind of a cycle. You don't feel lost cause objectives are always there. So to me this is one of the best games this gen just for play factor. Keep in mind, I didn't play the last few games so I don't have AC burn out.
I'm a huge fan of Sony but even I think this is wrong and should be called out for it. I loved this game and if you had told me they were bringing extra single player content out, I would have been right there day one or I thought so anyway. But thirty dollars, 20 for the dlc, 10 for the next gen extras. Sorry no. I paid for the ps5 console, so I paid for all those extras. In fact I paid for two ps5s. Plus I was a day 1 buyer of the game so I paid full price unlike people who waited. Those day 1 buyers are going to be the first people who would buy the dlc, why should they get hosed. Sony is trying to be a lot like nintendo here. Now Ill wait for reviews. If the dlc seems like it's worth thirty bucks which means it will need to be about half of what the main game is then I'll buy it but I figure it will just be a few hours. In that case I will wait which is what I believe most should do but a lot won't.
@ATaco actually it probably will The ps5 version will be 70, the ps4 version will probably be 60. I could see them charging ten dollars for the folks that buy the ps4 version when they want to upgrade to the ps5 version. It's just wrong on so many levels and lots of people are like fine with it. I'm a big Sony fan and even I can see the wrong with it.
I gave it a 9 but would give it a 9.5 if possible. Minor issues but for me it's the best game this gen. I liked TLOU2 but open world games will always rate higher than story games if the open world is done well and ghost does it very well.

Re: Mini Review: Praey for the Gods (PS5) - A Commendable But Heavily Flawed Take on a Classic
It also doesn't do a great job of explaining basic things like holding onto the beast. I think the controls could definitely be more streamlined.

In that case I will wait which is what I believe most should do but a lot won't.
Re: Sony Fans Bicker Over Ghost of Tsushima PS5 Paywall
@ATaco actually it probably will The ps5 version will be 70, the ps4 version will probably be 60. I could see them charging ten dollars for the folks that buy the ps4 version when they want to upgrade to the ps5 version. It's just wrong on so many levels and lots of people are like fine with it. I'm a big Sony fan and even I can see the wrong with it.

@KilloWertz well you should be playing games instead of commenting on a article.
Re: Don't Expect to Play The Gunk on PS5
Well that's fine with me. God of war 2 horizon forbidden west, ratchet and clank won't be on Xbox either.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Ghost of Tsushima?
I gave it a 9 but would give it a 9.5 if possible. Minor issues but for me it's the best game this gen. I liked TLOU2 but open world games will always rate higher than story games if the open world is done well and ghost does it very well.
