@Star-Lord Thanks for the advice. It seems like the big launch problems - bugs, no dlc for UA1 - were sorted, and the other big complaint was the price, which is also much more reasonable. I have the first one on 360, but no dlc, so I think I'll get the bundle...
Injustice 2 for £12? Can't say no. Does anybody know if the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games are playable? They reviewed really poorly as the ports were bad, has anyone tried them recently?
@Rudy_Manchego Probably not worth buying a PC just to play it, but system requirements are very low so will run on almost anything. Seems like a good call for a VR port as well.
On Topic - Super excited for this game, such a great character and so many interesting villains from the comics. My spider sense is tingling!
Without meaning to start a uber-nerdy comic book lore debate, I always thought that the web stuff degraded and disintegrated over time....(although it's more than likely that I just imagined that's what happens!)
VYVYAN: NO!! No! We're not watching the bloody Good Life!! Bloody bloody bloody!! I hate it!! It's so bloody nice! Felicity 'Treacle' Kendall and Richard 'Sugar-Flavored-Snot' Briars!! What do they do now?! Chocolate bloody Button ads, that's what!! They're just a couple of reactionary stereotypes, confirming the myth that everyone in Britain is a lovable, middle-class eccentric - and I - HATE - THEM!!
Thanks for reminder to re-watch The Young Ones. Dammit, I miss Rik Mayall.
I played through Resident Evil 7 on normal TV, and all I can say is that there is absolutely no way I'll be playing it on VR. Price looks good, but it would have to include the move controllers and a better game than VR Worlds in the bundle for me to bite. Also don't have a ps pro, and don't really intend to buy one, so that puts me off a little. Will probably wait for PS5 and hope it is all bundled together.
@JoeBlogs In fairness, they are easily the worst two. I might consider finishing 3 at some point, but don't think I'll ever hate myself enough to play the first one again
Considering it's based on a pen & paper tabletop RPG, character creation is kind of in keeping with the whole sub genre. Many RPGs manage to tell great stories without predetermined characters. Baldurs Gate, etc just off the top of my head. I understand what people are saying about voice actors though.
Just to prove I'm not trolling, Don't Whizz On The Electric Fence was real
(Hope the link is good, I'm in China and don't have a VPN, so can't look at YouTube!)
@GarySan He can't get fired because he's one of the bosses. Even if they did try to fire him, he'd be like "Screw you other bosses, God of War is mostly my idea and I'm taking it with me and so you can't use it anymore" and they'd all be like "Sorry, we didn't mean it. I hear you have a really cool nephew, maybe he would like to come to the studio to check out some new games, and bring some of his friends, but only cool ones who don't call him a liar, or talk a lot of crap about things they don't know about"
Gran Turismo Sport is Beyonce (Original GT is Destiny's Child) Lady Gaga is The Crew. Lorde is Project Cars. Rihanna is Need for Speed. Alexandra Burke is Driveclub.
@ellsworth004 I played it when it came out, so my memory might be a bit foggy, but you can't go back to the other areas once you return to the hub. The hub area is fantastic, and this is where all the side quests are. The main missions tend to be in the outside areas, and as I said once they're done you don't generally go back unless there is another specific mission in that area. The core game is great, but unbalanced - progression felt forced/weird, probably to accommodate MT economy. Also forgettable, cheap online mode.
Game was great, although the crouching seemed a bit weird. My heart sank when I worked out the significance of the loot crates. Possibly ruined a much improved game, this type of thing is messing up too many games now. So this is the alternative to a season pass that splits the community?
I just don't buy their version of events. Seems to me like typical Brighton hubris. Self absorbed bores reliant on other people's money to create tedious vanity projects, whilst inflicting their snobby identity politics on the rest of us. Now the money has run out, they get Eurogamer (whose head office is also based in Brighton...fishy, fishy....) to write a long winded polemic about how it is everyone else's fault. You can only ride this kind of arrogant, right-on B.S. train so long before reality catches up with you, and somebody needs to pay the bills.
@Jenny_Jones Great review, must be tricky to write about such a plot/spoiler heavy game, especially as a sequel where you need to talk about changes and developments, while still including enough info for potential new players. Loved the first one and had some great conversations with @Ralizah about possible philosophical subtexts in the forum. I really need to get on to playing D2!
@ShogunRok It would have been much funnier to see it as part of playing the game instead of reading about it here, and now that I know, well it's just not going to have the same impact. If you've played the first game, something very funny happens when you go to Canada. There is also a very funny class option (not Mage, Thief or Fighter). If I mentioned either of these jokes, they'd be less funny when you see them in game, no? Considering the game isn't even out yet, there's no chance to have seen this already, and the fact that it may be on other sites is a total cop-out, especially since it means that instead of finding something from playing through the game yourself, you seem to have just seen it on Eurogamer and then regurgitated it here. I don't mean this to be personal as I really enjoy your writing, and this site as a whole, but I am a little disappointed (why also include it in the headline?), as it's not really even 'news' as such. Anyway, rant over, I'm sure I'll get over it and I'm sure there's plenty more great jokes in the game, but please, no more!
@Dodoo
Unless I've read the article wrong, it's not on Vita in this promotion. I already have it for ps3/4 but would prefer to play it on Vita. Unlike many other smaller/indie games it is not cross buy. Good game but not quite worth a double dip.
Apologies, allow me to correct myself - I wish Child of Light was on Vita for this month's PS Plus promotion.
Happy now?
I wish Child of Light was on Vita. Never understood why that game was not cross-buy. At least I can fiddle with pigeons in the privacy of my own home, I'm on my last chance with the local park keeper. Says he'll call the fuzz if he catches me again.
I bought it for £17 (new) recently, and still feel short-changed. I play Ultra SF4 more. In fact the only reason I play it is because my good friend mains Honda, and there's no Honda in SF5 for him to hundred hand slap me with.
I would hope that the main focus over at Bethesda is a new game engine to replace the notably creaky one still in service for Fallout 4.
In fact since the release of FO4, they've only produced remasters and proposed VR versions of their main franchises, which could suggest a technical overhaul in the background for their next big new title, and if so I think that they would want to show off one of their own flagship franchises (Scrolls 6 or FO5) rather than a third party IP.
As Robert says in the article, it's probably something to do with the sister company publisher.
Can't remember what I played it on (I usually choose normal difficulty), but some of those bosses needed constant dodge rolling not to get mullered. Having said that, I may have rushed through the game a little bit.
@lacerz Yes, so Sony Pictures has only contributed 8 billion (I concede, an astronomical amount to us mere mortals) to an overall revenue of 68 billion, it is clearly underperforming. As the article states, and as I suggested, the electronics business is subsidising the movie business. How can you not see this?
It's to subsidise Sony Pictures, which is tanking badly after a lot of poor and poorly received movies (ghost busters, emoji movie). The outlook is pretty grim, even if Spiderman : Homecoming does the numbers, the Disney vultures are circling. So not really greed as such, but annoying nonetheless.
Ummm, is it just me or does the character being in a wheelchair suggest a solution to VR traversal in FPS games? You could play it sitting down and it wouldn't feel weird....
