Do we really need more bloody zombies in our video games? Apparently so, as multiplayer shooter Dead Alliance is entering its open beta phase on PlayStation 4 starting today. From what we gather, the game essentially drops opposing teams of players in a map filled with zombies, and you're tasked with shooting anything that doesn't happen to be on your side.
The twist is that you can actually get the undead hordes to aid you as long as you have the right equipment, turning the tide of battle in your favour. If that sounds like your kind of thing, then you can hop onto the PlayStation Store now and get it downloading. The beta lasts until the 31st July.
Will you be giving this a go? Keep your eyes on your corners in the comments section below.

Played a game and deleted it, nothing special and it felt like it was a 5-10 years old, don't ask why it is just how it felt for me. Waiting for Lawbreakers now.
Yeah these are all blending together now.
Don't forget, brought to you by the team who made Friday the 13th, a game that is far, far from being complete and bugless.
Can't wait for Metal Gear: Survive
I miss the Xfiles times. Just give me something with aliens.
I can fully understand why 'Zombies' make one of the 'best' enemies in so many games. The unrelenting yet mindless way they keep chasing after you is one of the reasons they are so frequently used. Its also probably less offensive to blow limbs off an undead zombie than some 'living' creature. They are not stopped by the loss of a limb, not stopped by the time of Day (like sun to a Vampire or werewolf that only changes on a full moon), stupid enough to just keep coming, not use cover or strategy to attack. In virtually every way, the 'Zombie' is the 'perfect' enemy type in these games.
Of course you could use Aliens in the same way but if they are 'invading' and your role is to 'defend' Earth, it doesn't make sense to have a mindless, unrelenting Alien that had the ability to build and fly space craft billions of miles. In some games, you do get something similar to 'Zombie' behaviour with some 'drones' - the thrall for example in Destiny - although they are not quite so 'unrelenting' and will turn back if you move out of their Zone.
As soon as you introduce a modicum of intelligence. the game changes. It either becomes a sci-fi or generic shooter in either 1st (Killzone, Destiny, CoD, Battlefield/front) or 3rd (Gears of War, Uncharted, Ghost Recon, Division). Not saying these aren't great, but there is something satisfying about just mindless slaying hordes of Zombies rather than using cover or stealth to kill others that can also use cover and stealth.
Incidentally, about this game, is it just me or does it seem similar to the Robotoki 'Human Element' game that Robert Bowling (formerly of Infinity Ward) was making before they closed up the studio??
Zzzzzzombies.
Game looks decent no issues with zombies. Not sure I hear too many people complain when there are zombies in call of duty.
Good that they are selling 2 different versions of the game one which is mulitplayer only and the other which includes single player and multiplayer
I'll just stick with Killing Floor 2. It's not a great game but when I'm in the mood for some mindless shooting fun it does the job.
Sounds really cool to me mind you im a total zombie aficionado.
This is part of the reason why I never play zombies in a cod game. It's starting to get very stale.
I bought Resident Evil: Code Veronica in the Sale:')
There's nothing really wrong with zombies in video games. I feel like the reason people think zombies are oversaturating the market is simply because there are so many cgames happen to use zombies. As an entity, zombies are brilliant. You can tell any kind of story you want with zombies. The perfect fodder, enough of a threat to warrant killing and provide a landscape for exploring the horrific nature of human beings. People realise this and try to incorporate them but do so really
poorly. It's not that there's too many zombie games, but that the majority are great.

Yeah this is the devs who have basically not fixed Friday 13th at all isn't it?
This game is proper trash.
Friday the 13th looks a lot better than this whatever its called - Apparently the former is getting fixed up with a SP mode and wot not still btw, who's bright idea was it to churn out this 101 generic-ism though? Not very exciting..
