@Rich33 Interesting. I mainly meant Legends is newer and a bit more accessible. I don't know much about the game, other than that it has online stuff, which the hopeless trophy hunter in me hopes is gone in the redo.
Yeah, I don't think VRR should be necessary for a game that ran at 60 FPS on Vita and Wii. I just looked up the original PC version and it's capped to 60 as well, due to game speed being tied to framerate... I think it's safe to say we'll be stuck with 60 again.
Nice to have it on current consoles and it makes more sense than rereleasing Legends, though I doubt the resolution bump would be that noticeable. I hope it has 120 hz support like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
The PS3 version came out in November 2011, by the way. I still consider it the best game to come out that month.
Supposedly, the reason for Horizon Chase Turbo being delisted is that Epic bought the studio and did a bunch of layoffs. Doesn't make sense to me why that would affect an offline game that doesn't have any obvious licensed content.
Your delisted games won't be taken away from you unless the publisher pulls a PT.
They're pretty bad, but the Cairn one probably is the best one.
I don't understand why the only publishers releasing avatars other than the occasional free crumbs from Sony are ostensibly Turkish companies specialising in shovelware. They release bundles of their games with AI-generated avatars that seem to at least understand the concept of a decent avatar, despite being slop.
On the Japanese store, some deluxe editions of Japanese non-slop games come with avatars, but it's rare for them to include them in other regions. Europe's always gotten far fewer avatars than North America and this stuff continues to boggle the mind. I wonder what Sony wants to do with avatars.
I wouldn't call it "no discernible reason"; they have to pay extra to have trophies retrofitted, and it's more expensive the more involved they want them. Namco and Capcom clearly don't think it's worth the extra cost, and they're probably right, but it's interesting that others have deemed it worth the cost.
For me, having trophies is a feature that redeems the otherwise mediocre emulations. Without it, why not just play on a superior emulator elsewhere? In the case of Time Crisis, more work than usual was done on the controls anyway, which presumably wasn't free.
They're in the "literally unplayable" bucket for me for now, but I will soil myself if R4 specifically gets trophies. In the meantime, I have too much to play.
Great month. I'm not sure how well I'll do at Wuchang and Nine Sols at the moment, but I wanted to play them. Glad they're on Essential so they're "to keep".
Makes sense for FC to be on there to add more bodies to the gambling machine. I'm sure it's a good get for football fans.
I think it still makes sense to vote if you already own the games. I usually just imagine I don't.
Might check it out when it's cheap/catalogued, but I'm not expecting much.
Looks like the publisher has another game called Spy Drops Gaiden in development from a different developer that's going for a 2D Metal Gear look with a Game Boy colour palette. Interesting that they're sticking with this IP.
@LikelySatan Thanks for mentioning the Persona 1 and 2 soundtracks. I'm giving the first one a listen now and it is pretty great. Part of the reason I've never gotten into Persona 5 despite buying it and Royal years ago is that I never understood why people were so enthusiastic about the soundtrack. The singing is off-putting, as is the rapping in 3, but the compositions often don't seem that interesting either.
In case anyone's interested, they're from VSPO!, the third biggest VTuber agency in Japan, which focuses on e-sports.
I like and am subscribed to a handful of Japanese VTubers, though I mainly just watch the odd clip. I know it's the intersection of the idol and streaming cultures, but I don't understand how people can pick one creator and watch tens of hours of content from them each week.
I think it would be cool if PlayStation showcases could be presented by VTubers rather than disembodied voices or guys in suits. I'm a lot less enthusiastic about English-speaking ones though.
I guess I'll no longer have 150 pages of slop to scroll through on PSPrices every time a new sale starts and will instead have to find something else to occupy my time. Sad.
I do wonder how profitable these games were. I always thought they were several times more expensive than they should've been when heavily discounted compared to the other slop games out there.
I always hated the English dub (especially Vanille), so I really wish they'd rerelease these games with dual audio. Phenomenal soundtrack though. Maybe I'll finally go back and finish it on PS3 so it's no longer staining my trophy list.
The song wasn't quite as bad as I expected, but I find it hard to get excited about what appears to be a story about someone wanting to be famous. Art style looks okay.
Thanks, I'm going to tell my Simpsons-quoting coworker that he now has to play Fortnite and he'll say "haha" or something to that effect and we'll both move on.
The headline reminded me of Infinity Nikki's "we seconded Zelda BOTW's game designer for 5 minutes", but it sounds like it's more than that. A lot of Chinese developers make stuff about Chinese history and nobody else really does. Seems cool. I'll probably play it if it comes out.
Even ignoring this drama and the recasts and Kiryu's shirt, I have little confidence in RGG remaking 3 well, especially after Pirate Yakuza. But I am curious...
I would have been excited to play Stray if I hadn't already platinumed it 5 times (1 PS5 list, 4 regional PS4 lists). I love that game; it's my second favourite game of 2022. 10/10 soundtrack and atmosphere. At least now I'll pseudo-own it so I can replay it or show it to people without having to buy it.
I guess I might check out WRC once I'm done with every game I actually want to play, by which time the servers for WRC 69 will have gone offline, let alone this one.
If you think I'm going to buy a remake of a game I've already finished 7 times, you are correct.
I'm curious to see what changes they make, specifically to the orphanage stuff plus how they flesh out the antagonists. Also, if it's Michiru isn't in it it's literally unplayable.
I hope the Capcom and Namco emulated games do get trophies someday. Having trophies is one of the few benefits over playing these in a better emulator elsewhere.
There was a survey a couple of years ago and I said DW4 was the game they should remaster. I'm sure they take my opinion specifically very seriously. I've been exposing myself to 5's soundtrack lately and it's great too.
I played the Lies of P demo and loved it but never ended up buying the game, so this works out for me, for once. I often buy games years before I get around to playing them, but I was waiting for the physical version to drop in price.
For anyone not aware, they added difficulty options recently with the highest level being the original difficulty.
@zhoont I mean... It's right in that it is true that I didn't think anything had changed! I've lost the concept of time, so it's entirely possible that the last time (other than a few days ago when I bought more PS3 avatars) I checked was after they changed it and I gaslit myself into thinking it'd been like that for ages. I apologise.
In case you haven't gotten around to checking on PS4, my PS3 avatars are not there on PS4.
I don't think anything has changed. You can't see PS3 avatars on a PS4/5 and vice versa.
Having to manually download them on PS3 is a pain (beyond requiring a console) due to the stupid download list, though if you buy more than one at a time you can download them all at once immediately after completing the purchase. That is, unless the store crashes on purchase, which is about 50/50 for me (the purchase still goes through though)...
The vibes would be impeccabler without the bad ukelele music, but this looks great. Both in the literal sense that I like the look of it, but also as a game. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
I was curious as to whether it would allow same-sex romance given the developer is based in China. I guess it will, but the developer has responded to questions about this with a copy-pasted message about being able to "develop affinity relationships with NPCs of any gender in the game" and I can't tell if that even answers the question.
Decent month at face value, but better than usual for me because I don't own any of the games. Mainly interested in Eiyuuden. And Deus Ex if it has trophies. If not, it's dead to me because I am an idiot. Firebreak is a maybe.
I may have to give Katamari another go; I gave up just short (kinda) of the platinum on the first one. Maybe it was stick drift, maybe it just wasn't for me.
I doubt I'm young enough to be part of the demographic they're talking about, but I watch a lot of anime and I have very little interest in anime adaptations of games in general outside of visual novels, let alone PlayStation IPs. That said, I can genuinely imagine an Everybody's Golf anime working. And maybe Gravity Rush if they ditch the made-up language (I've hated made-up languages since Star Wars Episode 1...).
40 consecutive trailers of games in the same genre doesn't seem like a great idea. I imagine a lot of them will be Chrono Trigger inspired and similar-seeming. I hope it raises the profile of some cool games though. I really need to get around to playing more JRPGs.

Seems like a great update and I'll probably have the platinum soon, but I wouldn't mind them adding more story stuff. The big updates have only added 1 to 3 hours of sidestory stuff, which is not a lot for a whole month. I've still somehow wasted over 250 hours on this game despite the lack of content. I suspect the new outfit will be another insane grind of stuff requiring daily energy.
As the article suggests, I'm sure they make way more money from their mobile games than from Stellar Blade. I'm keen for a sequel, hopefully with better story and characters.
Also, I had no idea there was a Raeliana mobile game, let alone that Shift Up made something like that.
As a fan of the series since the PS2, this doesn't seem like much of a loss if they're just George Lucasing it, but I wonder if there'll be any meaningful gameplay tweaks.
I wouldn't be too surprised if it came to PS5, but I'm not really expecting it to.
