Man all the restored faith “The Final Shape” seemingly brought to the table and yet still Bungie has to hemmorage workforce. Has there even been any news on how much the expansion actually sold yet?
Started playing it a few days ago. Pretty good so far. My main thought at the moment is wether the game will have enough mileage that It'll be one of those single player games people will still be talking about months after release.
@dark_knightmare2 Much as I don’t really want to condone their behaviour they only really got like this because of Sonys ***** attempt to force PSN integration into the game at the expense of PC players and getting it delisted in certain countries.
I mean the games not even a year old yet and already people are complaining it’s fanbase has gotten too abrasive.
@xeofate How good is it exactly because I have said all kinds of conflicting things about that I’m finding it difficult to gauge how myself would respond.
@The_Pixel_King I’ve heard mixed things about it which is why I’ve haven’t touched it yet. Then again a lot of the winners here I haven’t touched either but otherwise I have more initiative to experince them (RE4, Baldurs Gate 3, cocoon, Cyberpunk to name a few).
@somnambulance Frankly surprised people are rating this game as well as they are, considering is not exactly subtle about its inspirations and the fact the publisher SE hasn’t made very good decisions in the last few years. We’ll see how it all does on launch day.
@DennisReynolds what’s remarkable though is that they somehow are managing to it without publishing any new games from the developers they acquired. Like a few years ago there’s was cautious optimism about how they would fare, what the hell happened?
Regretfully my PlayStation 5 got stolen a week back so much of my gaming will regulated to my other systems for now.
Switch; There’s TOtK to work my way through and anything else in the library that I need to carry on (like Metroid Prime R)
PC: I may try Street Fighter 6 as my entry into fighting games and things look promising for Remnant 2 and Baldurs Gate 3 so there’s those. There’s a lot on steam I kinda want to try actually.
Xbox: Not much there beyond reconnecting with older games. Maybe see what Diablo 4’s like?
Good for them but still I’m kinda trepidations over the full game myself ( having only touched the demo) mainly cause I heard all sorts of conflicting opinions of the game itself concerning its mechanics, story and side quests and wether or not it’s a total betrayal of the FF experience (having not played enough of the other games yet I can’t say for sure on that front). Kotaku’s alarmist and perhaps biased in hindsight articles about other aspects also put me off at the time.
At it’s root I believe the biggest problem with Overwatch’s lore is that got too ambitious in short amount of time. Blizzard really should’ve stuck to one or two storylines to begin with with set pool of so and so characters and begin to branch out once they completed that. Instead they rushed to fill up their plate with as much as possible which combined with fragmented release model they’ve used for the lore and the delays caused by the sequel means they’ve barley even gotten started eating it. In theory the sequel was supposedly gonna use its PVE mode to break the deadlock and give fans what they want but that fact that it got downgraded recently into sporadic battle pass schlock suggests an inability to plan long term on Blizzard’s part or even take into account complications that may arise.
Really don’t know how this miniseries could even restore any sort of story goodwill that’s been lost at this point but at bare minimum it will give those who still care for whatever reason some solice…
@Korgon It seems to have worked for some games ( think Rainbow Six or Payday) though I don’t know if it’s a kind of style that lends itself well to being remixed unless bungie got really unconventional and off the wall with it which they probably won’t do now in their current state.
@PSme That’ll be ironic ( and kinda funny if it happened) considering Bungie gave a negative report of ND‘s proposed LOU mulitplayer spinoff game not long ago.
The idea of a Star Wars open world game (with a smuggler focus) is an enticing prospect, though I worry that the final product maybe held back by Ubisofts worst habits.
@MikeOrator How are they dudes exactly? Cause it seems to me like you can’t accept the fact developers will not be beholden to your unreasonable expectations of female characters.
@TruthDoor I don’t think people have too many issue with the RE remakes (aside from things in 3 perhaps). There hasn’t been any word that they were doing the kind of meta timeline stuff that FFVIIR has already done.
For a game that’s often been slated as mechanically bland (at least when compared to ER), consumers in the UK really seemed to gravitate towards FW for some reason even as more perceived exceptional games popped up this year. In the states it’s a bit of different story with ER appearing higher on the chart there.
Not sure who even has the time to play even half of the open world AC games on top on all the other non affiliated ones that exist (Ghost of Tsushima, Horizion, Breath of the Wild etc.) but judging by the numbers it’s seems some do.
Seeing the friggin Rabbids game up there is hardly comforting. Nothing personal I just never liked them. Seems like WOM (Word of Mouth) of the recent Xbox and pc ports of P5R have given the original PlayStation version a nice little boost.
@Damingo1011 Perhaps but I feel it came with other features that made it resemble one. To this day I still do not get what players even see in it. Certain things about it just rubbed me the wrong way.
This looks polished as hell but after being let down with other Destiny-like shooters or live services (looking at you Avengers and especially Outriders) I have reason to be wary with this one, especially since a lot of them tend to repeat the mistakes of each other.
@Kairu I really don’t man. Game isn’t being promoted and hyped to the same extent as it’s predecessor. Success may have to come down to word of mouth alone depending on wether it offers enough.
@Cherip-the-Ripper Fair enough though personally I felt the game’s difficulty curve did not allow for much thinking on one’s feet plus certain enemies (even early on) got much too annoying to deal with. Even the thrill kill aspect felt less punchier than let’s say Doom.
@Clankylad what did people even see in Outriders? All I got from my small time with it was at best okay gameplay married to ugly dated graphics, bland menu layout, poorly structured storytelling that felt like it was written by an obnoxious edgy 12 year old and just the feel the whole affair was just riffing on older (and better games). Being unfamiliar with the developers other work, it hasn’t exactly given me a good impression of them.
@Shepherd_Tallon Unless of course most of it gets cancelled or postponed like those announced movies. Feels like Disney’s just repeating their lack of ability to prepare but in a different medium.
@colonelkilgore I’ll admit creators are smart enough to avoid skimping on this genre. I’m just kinda a stickler for the perpection you can have too much of a good thing. But maybe I’m being over dramatic. Perhaps deep down I’m just annoyed by Soulslike ability to maintain itself in contrast to other genres that often have to deal with dips in quality after a certain point.
Talk about one big celebratory monument to franchise-milking. I say this as a observer to this series who has barley touched any of the games, though If pressed I could manage II and IV.
@colonelkilgore Personally after peaking with Elden Ring, I feel like the whole soulslike genre is kinda at risk of overexposure now. Nowadays it feels like developers only go with the style for the sake of instant critical gratification when they could be doing something more conventional or unique with their ideas.
I don’t really recall greedfall ever being that popular though, plus more a than a few reviews had reservations about it. This new game’s alternate/gearpunk history looks neat though I don’t about the inclusion of yet another kind of souls-like mechanic.
Why does the thumbnail of this article have some sort non-descript sci-if imagine when you first click on it that has nothing to do with what it’s saying? Like there’s Guy and girl on it with a giant head of cauliflower alien in the background looming out like on the front cover of the original ‘Mass Effect’. Am I the only one who’s getting it?
Surprised to see TMNT make it to third place. I was never exactly sure just how popular it was in the UK since home releases of the series over there were few and far between.
Interesting the kind of alumni that they’ve picked for this. In The Expanse’s case I’ve been only just been making my way through the first book of the source material.
With most of these games (barring some of those that have already been unveiled) I’ll need to see more of what they offer before I make a decision. Not terribly thrilled about the prospect of more souls or soul-likes though cause I’m kinda concerned that the genre’s at risk of overexposure after peaking with Elden Ring.
I’ll be splitting my time between more of Elden Ring, Horizon: FW, Apex and Maybe Stray. Hoping to get through my back catalogue of Switch Games too and start Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I have the first two games as well but I’m not sure I’ll have the time to jump into those before I start 3.
