I’m game for these given Respawns track record though (depending on how they pan out) I do think it’s important they give time to unrelated projects eventually (Titanfall or otherwise).
Seeing Deathloop get respect feels strange in light of how the past few months have been spent dismissing it as an overrated, inferior version of Arkanes past works.
@colonelkilgore I guess if you are into or familiar with Nioh (which I am not), then you’re probably gonna be more optimistic for it. I just hoping the final product is more than some of its marketing would suggest.
@colonelkilgore Why though? Because everything I’ve seen from this far just baffles me. To me it feels like Square Enix are trying too hard to peak to a more mainstream crowd through via harming back to the earliest final fantasy (which some gamers may have not been alive to see, let alone understand) and draping it in a style and aesthetic that feels at odds with the intent of that game. The whole thing just looks and feels like an anomaly, puzzled by its own existence and oblivious to its own ridiculousness.
@velio84 Elden ring and Horizon are two of my main takeaways as well. I need a bit more convincing for some of others though the aesthetics of things like Eclipse, Slitterhead, Sonic: Froniters and even Arc Riders seem to bode well.
I find it strange that people are getting excited over otherwise well done cinematics that don’t really give much insight into how they’ll play yet, especially since E3 got tons of flack for having too many trailers of this type. It could be I’m missing something here.
Been meaning to play more of Bioshock myself. My only hold off are complaints that the gameplay in some parts is said to be poor compared to the world building.
@velio84 these day I like to have more context in my game trailers than a bunch of admittedly sexy looking graphics, though If they ultimately play and feel as good they look then I’m game.
@Blackjay For the record, I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s excitement here, I just feel personally I need to see more of it in the future to be fully confident. That and I’ve lately been despondent with majority of Star Wars things, thanks in part to how inadequately the sequel trilogy was handled. Even the whole High Republic era ( which this new game is admirably about) can feel like an afterthought at times.
One party particularly sore spot for me is the presence of what looks like yet another Empire-like faction, which last time I checked the HR was trying to avoid.
Look, I know people are kinda in awe of the trailers visual fidelity and all, but I can’t help but feel the whole thing lacks context at present. Not to mention it hardly resembles anything the so called High Republic branch has done thus far.
This looks like something that Borderlands would do if I’m being honest, based on aesthetics alone. Surprised to see people saying that I this is somehow related to a pre-existing game that the showcase didn’t make clear.
Almost everything presented looked so poor it was kinda painful at times. And even the familiar stuff was for games I not particularly crazy for. Others were presented or poorly set up in a manner than didn’t give them a whole lot of leeway to stand out.
@Spanky Decent? About the only thing that could reach that criteria would be LDI and even then it’s trailer overstayed it’s welcome a tad. Everything else I could forget was even gonna be a thing.
Personally I for the life of me cannot stand R and S. Sure it might have seemed groundbreaking back in the 90s, but to me it hasn't really aged that well by modern standards. The comedy's awkwardly paced and lacks any real wit or spontaneity, the random dips into psycho melodrama were more grating than compelling. Not to mention the nasty revelations that came out concerning its creator a few years back.
To be honest I felt the context of this trailer to be all over the place in contrast to the last one seen at the PS5’s original unveiling a while back. The whole ‘a new age is dawning!’ Monologue was also kinda insufferable for some reason.
@Bleachedsmiles @Dan_ozzzy189Interesting line up this time. Highlights for me were GoW:R, Spider-Man 2 and wolverine. Kotor and project Eve where also pleasant surprises. Less enthused about everything else though. I mean Forspoken could be fun in theory but I’m not 100% sold it’s overlay familiar narrative yet. Ghostwrite: Tokoyo’s anime melodrama bollocks without context was a massive turnoff, while GOtG and Rainbow Six’s presences felt unnecessary especially since their parts felt like downgraded versions of their showcases from E3. The less said about GTA 5’s embarrassing excuse for an upgrade tease the better.
@Gamer_Girl_ Mario Kart deluxe hasn’t really left the charts either, even though there are plenty of other decent switch Games available now. Are most UK gamers just unadventurous or something?
@Old-Red Familiar perhaps but its’s possible that the similarities concerning the player invading on there game gimmick was purely coincidental given how old Demon Souls was at the time of its remake. Plus inventory and experience recovery is not unique to Soulsborne. Things like Minecraft and No mans sky did it as well.
@QBGaming12 Pretty much sold on Deathloop at this point. FIST looks fun as well. Maybe I’ll look into Death Stranding: DC as well though I hear the walking make Red Dead 2’s traversal look speedy by comparison. Still waiting on HFW release date though.
The one thing that puts me off going back to it the lack of conventional save which is not ideal for someone who’s time is restricted or who’s back catalogue is stuffed with games I never finished.
Only saw a small part of the first season. Didn’t click for me. The way they try to set up the world feels rather awkward and confusing for someone uninformed on the source material, not to mention the visual aesthetic doesn’t feel as distinctive as the one CD project created. Some really bizarre design choice too (like nifelgaards ridiculous bin bag armour for instance)
As someone who has yet to finish the game, I have recently been taken aback by the knowledge that apparently a lot of people were upset by how the game ends, especially those who were familiar with the 1997 original. Its kinda made me hesitate about continuing. Without giving anything away story-wise, how widespread is this sentiment and should I be worried?

Re: Apex Legends Dev Respawn Making Three Star Wars Games, Including FPS and Jedi Fallen Order Sequel
@PegasusActual93 That’s kinda my hope too. Something set before or after the films as they stand would suffice.
Re: Apex Legends Dev Respawn Making Three Star Wars Games, Including FPS and Jedi Fallen Order Sequel
@Ken_Kaniff A certain Knights of the Old Republic already did that. And even before Mass effect was a thing to boot.

@RevGaming who said that exactley?

@Mega-Gazz Hopefully it all goes well next year then maybe we will see that narrative partially realised.

Why does Fenris (I presume that’s him) look so off in that screenshot? His jaws seem way too narrow compared to the rest of the head.

@ShadowofSparta Ironically LOL success is kinda what made Arcane a thing in the first place, but yeah the latter has way more room for plot.

Good to see Insomniac is keeping some flavour in amongst the otherwise turgid, dull bowl of stagnancy.

@dasd2 Demon souls had its moment though I feel many consumers got cold feet over the difficulty curve.
