You’d expect first-party developers, like Compulsion Games or Ninja Theory, to be “paid” a fee for including their games in the service, much like with a third-party game.
No need to use quotes here, that's just called a salary. I bet even MS themselves can't figure out if their own studios are conductive to business profitability or not.
Really didn't click with 2 back when I played it (maybe I was too young, perhaps today would be different).
Also here to defend PW and V which bind so well together, and serve interesting story, setting and characters. (Worth mentioning: most of the interesting story in MGS: V is found post credits!)
Not going to get into it for a while (backlog reasons) but just had to show my support and purchase it now. These success stories are far too rare in the modern gaming landscape, we must do everything we can do make sure they keep happening.
Fantastic. Almost wish PS was struggling more in western territories so we'd get more iconic PS commercials aimed for the west "Michael" and "Perfect Day" come to mind, among many others that prove that Sony's ad game is world class.
Quite sad state of affairs where Team Cherry are clearly a victim of their own success. We've passed the point of diminishing returns probably 3 years ago. Now there is no way the game will live up to its (perceived) promise.
This is so infuriating! It was obvious that nothing good can come out of "a dozen live service projects". I really hope that both studios can recover from this travesty.
They will pry disc drives from my cold dead hands!
But seriously - discs are cheaper, can share them with friends, they have aftermarket value and some game-preservation value. So all in all I prefer physical.
It would probably be a logistical nightmare, but until it's sorted at YouTube - Sony and others should use live streaming instead of scheduled premieres for their event videos.
It's an incredibly dumb TOS regardless of PC... I mean PlayStation is being sold in probably most of those countries with an official distributor or otherwise. You're telling me anyone who buys a PS5 in these countries and goes on PSN is breaking the terms?
I've been using an account outside my country for many years because it was created it before PSN was available domestically. I'm sure millions of accounts are doing the same. Time to reform this stupid clause.
Also let us migrate PSN accounts to different countries for christ sake.
To everyone saying PC gamers are such drama babies, need I remind you what happened just last week with the (PS5 exclusive) Stellar Blade controversy?
Such a huge waste of energy all around. This culture of being so entitled and spoiled and vindictive is just giving all gamers a bad name, and it's embarrassing at the very least.
Hard lesson being learned here that video games are different than toilet paper. In the sense that video games aren't a commodity that you can scale by simply buying more factories, distribute further, improve margins and profit.
I'm sorry but where exactly is the reference to PS6 or a next generation console in his words? "New hardware" can be considered PS5 in this case, since the game was released on PS4.
It's the second time this happened recently - first time was with "The PS5 will be entering it's latter stage" which was reported by the media as "The PS5 generation is half over".
Just a minute ago these people were rooting for MS to go ahead with the largest acquisition ever in the industry, in a move that will severely reduce competition and increase exclusivity for many years to come.
@dskatter Exactly. The console is just barely over 3 years old, there's no way it has reached the half point yet. Typically a PlayStation console lifecycle is 10 years, with a 3 year overlap period between the new old and the old one.
Welp, I guess Yakuza was good while it lasted as a cult game. This kind of BS comes hand in hand with the mass market franchise-isation effect, so I expect the entries to become more and more frequent and with less and less innovation (See: Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry...)
I was already lukewarm on LAD and I have concerns about IW (seriously, Kiryu doesn't have to be in every single game)
Saw the $90 tag and for a second was afraid we're being squeezed for every little thing these days, even something like an improved battery. Hopefully this is a revision that completely replaces the original remote and for the same price. Now I'm left wondering if the Edge is due to receive the same treatment.
Is it only the gaming industry or the entire younger generation that is so incredibly sensitive and self-righteous? 1) First was about Future Class and their demand to "address" the Gaza situation (Israeli here, so I take personal offense with that). 2) Then it was another demand to address the layoffs (Tech worker here, and every sector of the tech industry was severely affected by downturn this year, game devs were nothing special). 3) Then people were offended for the award winners and "how dare they present a 'wrap it up' sign to them? so insulting!" 4) And now this unnecessary backlash at a well deserved and not mean spirited jab at CoD.
It's becoming really tiring navigating all the negativity around the gaming industry, while trying to enjoy games with an optimistic attitude.
They had until end of 2023 to prove themselves and the price hike. I would say that even at the old price, Essential as it stands simply isn't worth it. I will not be renewing PS+ for next year.
Brilliant performance from Ojisan! What a wonderful moment with the cast behind him singing along. The AMV in the background sends me straight back to those sentimental moments in the games. Love Yakuza 😍
One of the very few games I have ever finished more than once. Was hoping for a remake, especially due to the fact that the entire RDR1 map is freely navigable in RDR2. I used to think that was hint of things to come but leave it to Rockstar to massively disappoint once again.
I can play it just fine on PS3, don't see a reason to pay $50 for higher resolution.
@naruball Obviously their pipelines are full, probably for the remainder of this console generation at the very least. I am not suggesting there is anything they should be doing differently in the immediate term. I'm mostly talking about the long/strategic term. Lack of competition lead to stagnation and uninspired projects. Seeing a game such as Starfield ought to spark innovation and creativity deep within their various studios. I'm only saying a healthy Microsoft makes a better and more envelope-pushing Sony in the years to come.
@naruball You make good points. However I can't imagine Sony aren't a tiny bit concerned now, realizing how massive Starfield is going to be. This has to put some amount of pressure on them.
Much of Sony's silence in the last 2 years was a result of lack of opponents. Xbox show was excellent, and I'm very happy that competition is back. A successful Xbox means a better gaming industry for everyone.

Re: Expect to Pay $20 for Hollow Knight: Silksong on PS5, PS4
Normally I would be worried that it's a smaller scope game, but then I went to check the original Hollow Knight price and it was $15.
Absolutely insane value, god bless Team Cherry.

This pricing is how a competition-less market looks like.
Same story as Nvidia GPU prices.

I held off patiently on this generation. Wasn't easy but glad the wait is finally over.
Honestly they could ask for $999 and I'll pony up without thinking twice
Re: Lost in Random: The Eternal Die Announced, a Rogue-Lite Sequel Coming to PS5 in 2025
Why wasn't this part of ONL?!
The original was very charming and fun to play (albeit a bit undercooked).
Glad it made enough profit to warrant this neat looking spinoff.
