@naruball Obviously their pipelines are full, probably for the remainder of this console generation at the very least. I am not suggesting there is anything they should be doing differently in the immediate term. I'm mostly talking about the long/strategic term. Lack of competition lead to stagnation and uninspired projects. Seeing a game such as Starfield ought to spark innovation and creativity deep within their various studios. I'm only saying a healthy Microsoft makes a better and more envelope-pushing Sony in the years to come.
@naruball You make good points. However I can't imagine Sony aren't a tiny bit concerned now, realizing how massive Starfield is going to be. This has to put some amount of pressure on them.
Much of Sony's silence in the last 2 years was a result of lack of opponents. Xbox show was excellent, and I'm very happy that competition is back. A successful Xbox means a better gaming industry for everyone.
@Olmaz No worries bro And best if we don't get into a debate here about the rotten culture around consumerism But to give you a less cynical answer - people who want to be part of the conversation around a brand new thing, they feel like they have to play it ASAP.
@Olmaz You're preaching to the choir here, I'm always 1-2 years behind on my backlog. I play games at their best state and for a fraction of the price. My take is trying to be considerate of people who have to play games on launch, but I'm definitely not one of them.
@Flaming_Kaiser I wouldn't use the word "insane". The game has been out for only 10 days and these kinds of optimizations can take weeks if not months. I would say waiting for version 1.1 (and/or waiting 2-3 months after release) is a sweet spot for playing AAA games.
Sad that games aren't perfect on day-1 but that's the industry.
As someone who wasn't anxious to get the PS5 during the scalping period (first two years), and had firm plans to get the revised model later this year... This has put a serious wrench in my plans. I would feel bad getting a base PS5 now, and yet the backlog of games I want to play on PS5 is piling up.....
Numen, an impressive new lighting system powers the lighting effects, and hardware ray tracing allows for an unsettlingly level of realism when it comes to shadows and reflections.
I guess that means no TEW 3? Recently played the first two and they are excellent and very original.
I hope he find a better place where he can express his vision and ingenuity. He's a rare talent, one of the few that can be mentioned in the same breath with Kojima.
@Shepherd_Tallon @Matroska I also hear many arguments about how Sony are "hypocrites" when they lock their titles to their platforms, especially lately with the ABK/MS saga.
I think exclusives are essential to competition and to creativity. For example if Last of Us/GoW weren't tied to a specific system, I don't think they would've been such groundbreaking games. Part of that is the ability for the developer to focus more on their vision and less on the different hardware specs.
Regarding 2nd/3rd party exclusives/timed-exclusives - I agree that more people complained about FFVIIR than God of War, but in that case you can bet Square Enix saw a benefit to do it that way, rather than Sony forcing their hands.
Btw I'm not tied to PS at all, I have a PC as well as PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. I much prefer to follow games rather than specific platforms they are on.
A proof that all the PCMR people complaining about console exclusives do it just to troll. The majority of people who care enough about an exclusive game will purchase the corresponding console.
Save your porting money Sony. Hard to see how all of this is profitable.

That was fun! Both to participate and to read the results afterwards.
Thanks for doing this.

Re: Sony Could Skip PS5 Pro for PS6, Says Social Media Scuttlebutt
Correct me if I'm wrong but PS4 Pro was a response to PS VR not running so great on base PS4.
Both were released pretty much at the same time.
I think we can infer that PS5 has enough horsepower to drive PS VR2 sufficiently, otherwise we'd already hear about a Pro variant.
That's great news anyway, I don't think anyone really wants mid-gen refreshes.
