Re: Death Stranding 2 Is Causing Some PS5s to Overheat

Alex79uk

The PS5 is terrible for overheating. Even before this weather the two in my house overheat just playing stuff like FIFA. I've taken the sides off, cleared out any dust etc, but they're really not great at cooling themselves. Never had a single console overheat before the PS5.

Re: PS Plus Members Can Now Use Their PS Portal Like a Legit Retro Handheld

Alex79uk

I'm so tempted by the Portal. We have two PS5s in our house and I don't get to play on either of them as the kids are always on them and by the time they're in bed I'm too tired to bother. Most my gaming is on Switch in bed these days but streaming PS5 is very appealing. I used to like streaming PS4 to Vita, but it was never perfect with the lack of the extra shoulder buttons for L2 and R2. The only thing stopping me is not knowing how well it would perform. Because they're in their bedrooms, neither PS5 is wired to the internet, both on wireless. But if we can now stream directly from the cloud, that does change things...

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Games for August 2021?

Alex79uk

Nope, I think it's a garbage month. I can't honestly say I'm annoyed because I have enough to play as it is, but I'd still rather get games I might actually want to play at some point than these. I don't play multiplayer online really, and not in to sports games, so a bit of a disappointing collection this month.

Re: Sony Under Heavy Fire for Handling of Indies on PS Store

Alex79uk

@Milktastrophe I mean, you've wilfully ignored the latter part of that sentence where it says they aren't allowed to offer launch discounts "without [Platform X’s] approval".

But yeah, feel free to cherry pick words here and there to support whatever argument you want to make.

Re: PS Plus, PS Now Members Frustrated by Duplicate PS4 Games

Alex79uk

The streaming aspect of PS Now isn't great. But, there are loads of PS3 games on there I'd like to play. I see no reason whatsoever why Sony don't allow downloading PS3 games on PS Now to a PS3 console. Obviously you wouldn't be letting people play PS4 games on the PS3, but why can't we download PS3 games to the console. 🤷‍♂️

Re: Days Gone Gets Huge 25GB Update Ahead of PS5

Alex79uk

@Arnna Agreed, he is totally one dimensional. Personally, I didn't feel that it hurt the game, I didn't really ever expect any more from him, and even as he heads towards some sort of redemption, he never really evolves as a character. But, that said, I did actually quite like him.

Re: Days Gone Gets Huge 25GB Update Ahead of PS5

Alex79uk

This is just annoying. I'm on PS4 and can do without having to download a 25GB update I didn't need. The game worked fine for me before. Surely there's a way they can push this only to PS5 users!? Hopefully this doesn't happen with too many other games, pointlessly eating up my hard drive space!

Re: PS4 Friends List Displays the Console You're Playing On

Alex79uk

@BurnettPlays It already does tell you if someone is using Netflix. Or the Sky app, or Prime Video. It tells you whatever they're using. Even on a hacked Vita, friends can see if I'm using some dodgy FTP transfer app, it literally just gives the name of the app you're using at all times.

Re: Poll: Would You Still Pay for PS Plus if Online Multiplayer Was Free Elsewhere?

Alex79uk

My PS+ expired in Jan this year, and I'd been dissatisfied with the 'free' games for a while so decided not to renew it. I don't really play online anyway much. I decided to try a year of PS Now instead, and to be honest I'm finding it much better value. PS Now might not match (or even come close) to Gamepass in terms of new releases etc, but it does have one bonus over the MS equivalent. You don't need PS+ to play PS Now games online. And Rocket League is on there, which is the only game I play online (plus it's going F2P anyway, so that's irrelevant I guess).

tl;dr - PS Now is much better value than PS+ at the moment.

Re: PlayStation Now Records Highest Subscriber Count Ever at 2.2 Million

Alex79uk

I've had PS Now for almost six months. It's ok. It's not great and far from perfect, but it's ok. When my Plus subscription lapsed in January I didn't think I was getting good value any more so didn't renew it. Instead I spent £45 on a year of PS Now. Its good that it has some newer games on it now, but it's still not as good as Gamepass with day 1 releases. It's got a long way to go, but it's better than it was. There are not enough games being added monthly, so if you don't like what's been added you're stuck waiting a month for new ones. The PS3 streaming is very hit and miss. I have a 150mb connection and sometimes it works well and sometimes it's literally unplayable with the lag and dropped frames. It's a hard recommend really, it's ok, but it could be so much better.
