PS4 Firmware Update 2.50 PlayStation 4 PlayStation Store

If there's one thing that this author can't stand about Sony, it's the company's needless obsession with tinkering. This can be a good thing in some instances, as it strives to improve its systems with tweaks and changes – but sometimes we get the impression that it just makes adjustments for the sheer sake of it. And it's followed that trend with PlayStation 4 firmware update v2.50 by putting the PlayStation Store icon in the most annoying place possible.

We understand the logic: it's put it on the main ribbon to make it more prominent. The problem? This area of the user interface is already cluttered – even with the reduction to 15 apps applied – and now it looks messy, claustrophobic, and is quite frankly stressing this scribe out. Just look at it, sat there all purposeful and proud, getting in the darn way. Why couldn't it stay on the top layer of the menu, where it was always accessible but tidily tucked away?

There's not even any LiveArea-esque functionality showing the latest releases, and, to cap it all, we can't get the plaza to load at the time of typing. We're sure that this is all down to server strain, but we're seriously considering launching a petition to get this icon moved back to where it came from.
