@Czar_Khastik If you're that concerned about spoilers, then maybe you shouldn't read previews. Plus, the point is going through his memories and fate, cancer diagnosis itself was not meant as some shock moment. Any fan of the series knew he'd have cancer in this one from the developers themselves since it was announced the game was even being made. PushSquare did nothing wrong. You're just overly uptight.
While technically playable, Mirage was so bad in atmosphere, character and dialogue I feel certain it was all done by AI, it's so void of any passion or personality. More an unpolished tech demo, Mirage is so generic and plain I'm ready to finally quit the series I've followed from the beginning. The Japan one will need to be one heck of a masterpiece to wash away this Mirage stain for me. And before someone wants to think it's about it being stealth, no. I like stealth. It's just that no ideas are done well and it's so bland. Would be terrible even if it had remained cheaper dlc. So Red will have to earn it pretty hard for me to come back. I'm done wasting my time on Ubi mistakes.
I've never bought any micros off AC games and the store was never popping up or in my way. You want it, it's there. You don't, then just play the game. Not sure why this is an issue. I've never seen Ubi throwing in your face in-game towards the store. That would be different.
@species It's more dated in controls....think Grand Theft Auto 4 in terms of controls, but having played both, as long as you don't mind going back in time to rough around the edges controls, I liked the story and pacing much, much more than RDR2. I got bored in RDR2, never got bored in RDR. If you grab it for ten or fifteen bucks, it's well worth it. Story and characters were Rockstar's best.
@rjejr Kaley from Flight Attendent is on another Max show, only by voice. She's Harley Quinn in the animated series, the new season is out now weekly. In case you didn't know, the cartoon is aimed at adults, not kids.
I know it sounded like a trainwreck to take a game with no plot and turn it into a tv show, but it's actually really great. If you like the Deadpool movies in atmosphere and humor, you'll love this. Way, way better than I could have imagined. If you've got gallow's humor in you, it's the greatest show of the year.
@BrotherFilmriss That's the odd thing with motion blur. It seems to be like 3D movies. When 3D was everywhere, I could watch and enjoy it at the movies, yet both my dad and my wife couldn't see it at all. Like the glasses on, there was nothing off the screen to them, yet there was for everyone else. Investigating into it years back, ends up a certain amount couldn't register it. Something to do individually with people's brains and sight perception that's beyond me to detail exactly. Anyway, blur seems the same. You can get a bunch of people who can see the double's fading around the motion and others who don't see it at all. Same with framerates. You'll always have some scratching there heads because everything appears fine to them when others do see the fluctuating framerates. Nobody is wrong. It just isn't something seen by all. Trippy stuff. Eyes are weird. Life is weird. I guess my point is that I hate motion blur. 😄
That's got to be some of the worst motion blur I've seen. Feel like I'm playing super drunk, always seeing a slight double. Off it goes, fixing my only real complaint of the game. My wife hated it too. I had to experience pms her with her hatred of blur in all games playing this heavy duty use. She gave me new ptsd to carry on in life with.
@ColdHandGee Actually, it's a good thing for Push to bring up, because they are simply repeating what's out there and wanting to see what the gamers are actually experiencing told within their own thread. If it debunks it, then great! If it's a legitimate issue, then it's better to be informed.
@MeerkatSimples I've played five or six hour sessions and feeling my PS5, it was as cool as when I turned it on. I wonder what's happening to effect same consoles so vastly different? I'm playing it on digital, not disc, if that matters. I wonder if the disc is heating up things?
I'm a bit skeptical, seeing as both my wife and I have seperate PS5's of our own and each are playing FFXVI all the time lately, both of us playing on graphics mode the entire time and neither of us has crashed once. Wait, I take that back. I had my first crash yesterday during a really hectic, effect-wise, boss battle deep within the game that did crash to dashboard once. Was fine the whole battle other than that once. My wife's never crashed. BUT....we do keep our consoles dust free and with room to breathe in air conditioned rooms, which could be a factor. Some pics people have shown how and where they keep their consoles in the past, I'm amazed they work at all. I don't know if it's that, but I find it strange when I see both my own experience and someone else's one room over played on the same setting and having smooth experiences and people are claiming it's shutting down the machine entirely. Fingers crossed, maybe they're at a part further than me that's crashing, since the PS5 says I'm only at 75% complete.
As has been pointed out before and I agree, as an action game it's outstanding. As a Final Fantasy game? More like a 4. This reminds me of my feelings on what God Of War is now, after Ragnarok and it's prior. New Krato games have great controls, outstanding production, very polished and fun action games on their own....but as God Of War games as the series was known and established? They're not really God Of War.
Makes you wonder if FFXVI hax been released as an original title unconnected to Final Fantasy if it would have sold even better? Or did that name recognition push it? Guess we'll never truly know.
This really is Devil May Fantasy. Final Cry? 😄 I guess you hire the DMC director, you get a DMC game. Taken as it's own, it's an excellent action game with good acting and story. (Bit lacking on the treasure chests and side quests, but nothing game wrecking.) Still, it's not a Final Fantasy game. I was never a big follower of the series so it doesn't bother me. I could understand FF fans wanting an FF game would not want this. That should hit sales a bit. Then the obstacle of trying to get newcomers to try out a game with the number 16 of a series on it. The casual gamer isn't like the people who comment in a PushSquare thread, who are more informed on games. Casual and new gamers have no idea FF's are self contained stories, made only more confusing by when the series made sequels within a certain number of FF. Great game for me though! I'm enjoying it. Nice to play a game with so few glitches.
@Triumph741 Kinect wasn't a hit, but nothing hurt Xbox more than the 360 red rings. In the 360's lifespan, I had to replace 8 360's all from red ring. And everyone I knew were in the same boat, going through 6 or 7 xboxes, that defect wasn't small in those effected. No matter that the new consoles afterward didn't have those issues, if you look back 360 had a good lead over Playstation because Sony were a year later with PS3 and way overpriced. There were a few other missteps, but xbox plummeted exactly after red rings were peaking and seemingly never got a big chunk of customers back ever again, regardless of what they put out.
@Northern_munkey It is interesting how polar opposite reactions tend to be with those who play it. Either it's incredible or it's boring. No inbetween. Which I'm not suggesting there should be. Only this style of game seems to have a select crowd more extreme in it's cut off than normal. It is a cerebral game where it's understandable some want something faster paced and more reflex demanding when they game. I like it all, I love Midnight Suns, Assassin's Creed and Call Of Duty styles. It's a shame it didn't sell better, but what can you do? People like what they like and more seem to not like rts than do.
It's always a bummer to be reminded how bad Midnight Suns bombed. I always stayed away from card based and strategy games. Never was my thing. Took a chance and this game does a great job making sure noobs aren't lost or overwhelmed. It's a bit rough around the edges with little graphic things and the game crashed above average (crashes stopped since last patch), but nothing overly severe and under the technical hurdles.... Man, the gameplay is good and the fan service in the dialogue and how far they go in mentioning all the heroes in the Marvel Universe is a lot of fun for comic book fans. I was impressed that in new game plus they even included new wardrobe unlocks, must be at least 50 new pieces, that are not offered in the first time through at any point. It's a fun little bonus to see for plus players, there when it didn't need to be. And the clothes in plus were actually better, nods to different comic book heroes, like Hunter's Fantastic Four shirt, stuff like that. There was a lot of fan love. I just passed 200 hours in and still play it a bit every day. Sad to think the developers, who put much love into the game, didn't get the credit they deserve on a wider scale. Also bummed that a sequel looks unlikely after these sales. They had plans with something where Doctor Doom would be the main bad guy. But they got me into strategy! I bought Xcom 2 because of them. I never would have given that a chance if not for Marvel Suns, a truly unique and great game. I never get bored with it.
The attacks on this game are ridiculously overboard. I'm only about halfway in, but it's pretty good. Sure, it has an occasional bug and stray texture problems, but they aren't anything game interfering or anything I haven't seen in all other games in spots. This was never advertised as a Hogwarts game, which has massive scope and tons of variety in controls. It's an old fashioned, straight forward stealth and platforming game. I'm finding the level layout good and the atmosphere of being the Middle Earth universe is well done. It is singleminded, reminding me a lot of Styx. It's not a sweeping RPG and didn't try to fool you it was. If platforming and sneaking through the Lords Of The Rings is up your alley, it delivers. Controls work well. There aren't a bunch of collectables or twists and turns in the plot. It's stealth and platforming and that's it. But those two things are done well. I don't know, maybe it's because I'm not 60 frames fanatic, I'm playing it on raytracing and aside from the occasional light issue at some scenes, it looks good. Not award winning, but certainly not terrible, either. It does what it does well and doesn't try to be any more than that. I can understand not everyone liking a smaller scope, that it's not their preference, but the one star reviews and trashing I've seen out there are silly hyperbole showing why you can't trust reviewers anymore to give effective critiques. Sometimes they way, way overpraise and sometimes they act as though a game were so broken it's unplayable. It's rare to find anything more accurate and Gollum got put on the hit list, because while it may not be a game of the year, it's not garbage.
@Danloaded For me, I got the game back when it came out and played that sucker to death. The story is fine, but it is choppy. Feels like it was rushed. Not terrible or gamebreaking, but not anything you'll remember like a Last Of Us. And it's important you go into the options and turn off the talking portion when out exploring. You'll see it. With it on, there was a lot of irritating chatter, but turned off....problem solved! Those are the problem areas. The good though is the controls and combat are so good, so tight, responsive and fun, that the combat carries it. I played every single side part and found every collectable because the actual travel and fighting were so enjoyable. The main point is, you don't come for the story. Which still isn't terrible, it just isn't great. If you came for the fun action gameplay, there's some of the most fun to be had in years. I found the gameplay loop to be one of the best in a long time. Obviously it's just my experience, but if you get even half the enjoyment I did, it's well worth a buy. 90% of the people I ever see dismiss Forespoken never played it or played a few minutes of the demo. It's a good game with a couple trouble spots that don't ruin the game.
As the one lone weirdo who waits for a sale and then buys and plays only the single player CoD and is done, I sure hope this isn't true. As far as campaigns go Infinity Ward's two last Modern Warfares are way better than either of the other guys. Sledgehammer's always been the worst at campaigns. Be a bit sad to think they were handed making MW3. Not that they care, when I'm the only guy enjoying the solo part.
@tehKAMI This is going to sound like I'm joking, but I'm serious. As long as you've seen up to episode 700, you'll be fine for spoilers. It doesn't go above that. No, I really have seen all the One Piece show and finished the game, not messing with you about that number. Fun aside: at 49 years old, my wife bought me a Luffy statue kind of as a half joke/half celebration that sits ontop of the PS5 after Odyssey came out. I married wisely!
@nathanSF I don't blame Forespoken on the writers. I thought the dialogue (during story, not any line spit out when off in battle) was perfectly natural and flowed. Neither the writing nor acting were issues for me. The problem was the editing. The story was clearly chopped up and shortened, likely due to bad time management on other's part. I can see a good story in there chopped down. That lends weight to the guy in the article's argument of the developers themselves not giving enough priority, respect or attention to the plot or writers.
I can see all the complaints on a tech level. It was a buggy mess, but I've been gaming over 40 years. I survived Sonic Adventure 2. I platinumed Assassin's Creed Unity on PS4 before it was patched. (still get flashbacks) I can endure bugs. And underneath those flaws in Saints Row, I had fun. Sometimes the bugs added more fun. It's Saints. Every game was buggy. I'm down for more.
I doubt it's a big deal. Every company, any product, sees ebbs and flows in product and the world's economies have been shaky since end of 2020 on. I think it's just inflation across the board. When people struggle, games are not a priority like food, water and a roof over the head. Things in a bad economy to be hit hardest will always be games, movies and music.
Hogwarts was a bit deceptive. Starts you in the school where it runs fine, waits till a few hours to take you outside to some of the worst climbing animations in over three generations and some hit or miss, mostly miss, puzzles. Weak ending too. Very generic. I ultimately liked it though, despite not knowing or being invested in ths Harry Potter world in the slightest. It was still way, way, waaay better than Just Cause.
This has got to be the hands down nerdiest thing to argue about. It's Elf language. AND it's only different towards background NPC's, as well as being but one minor piece of what the ten bucks is asked for. Even if you removed the voiceover in the offer, the rest would cost about ten bucks still. They're just doing what businesses do and trying to entice you with an extra that isn't needed. You can play the game fine without it. Just do without and buy the base game if you're so bothered. This is such a silly, minor thing to get worked up over.
@Orpheus79V All party loyalists are blinded to different degrees. Totally agree, both sides are dirty. Independent thinking on all situations and topics is always for the best.
@TooBarFoo Sony as used is position as market leader to cost affectively get 3rd parties to withhold services from its smaller competitor....
======
No, it hasn't. They made a business deal over a product still in production to center on it's platform. Both sides agree towards the deal, no one is strongarmed or blackmailed. Just because the technology is capable of playing elesewhere doesn't mean it has to and the publishers are under no obligation to make an exclusivity deal. They do so because it it is mutually beneficial. Microsoft is not owed third party games. You say you are neutral, but read like a Microsoft employee.
@HeeHo Timed exclusives are pure Capitialism. A means to entice you towards one product over another, in this case a PS5 over an Xbox.....whatever the heck number they put after it now. At best, you might try to stretch it to anti-consumer if the title were bought permanently exclusive. Even then, you'd lose the case if it were brought to a court. Only children would think exclusives were anti-consumer, due to the entire scope of their thinking being they want it, so it should go everywhere.
What's especially stupid about this argument is to say timed exclusives with otherwise independent publishers would be anti-consumer, but buying up entire developers for use on only one console is not. The irony is that I believe Microsoft has bought timed exclusivity in support from some politicians. Not only in America.
Loved Forsaken and this is already preordered back when it had like 89 days to go countdown. 😄 I rarely pre-order, certainly not months in advance. I had faith in this one. Of course, I have the money to burn, so I can be reckless.
This reninds me of the whole thing where Sony is against Microsoft buying Activision and one of their claims was even if Microsoft still released on PS5, they might make the developer purposely not run the game as well as on Xbox. Microsoft called that idea ridiculous.
My take is the same as most. Love the gameplay and atmosphere, but story was severely lacking and felt like it was missing chunks. Plot idea was sound, but it felt like it was edited wrong and cut forward too quickly. But gameplay is always the most important and this played so smooth and natural feeling (far as button placement and how you do everything) I did every side quest and collectable, which I rarely do. If they fixed up the story, then they'd have a masterpiece. Fingers crossed, maybe they did.

Sounds like the developers finally watched Austin Powers, the first one.
Not a bad thing. I wish more games were willing to have funny moments.
I already know I'm buying this. I get everything from the Yakuza guys.

Re: Forspoken DLC In Tanta We Trust Out Now on PS5
Re: Rumour: This Year's Call of Duty Is Modern Warfare 3 for PS5, PS4
As the one lone weirdo who waits for a sale and then buys and plays only the single player CoD and is done, I sure hope this isn't true.
As far as campaigns go Infinity Ward's two last Modern Warfares are way better than either of the other guys.
Sledgehammer's always been the worst at campaigns. Be a bit sad to think they were handed making MW3.
Not that they care, when I'm the only guy enjoying the solo part.
Re: PS5, PS4's Likeable One Piece RPG Adds Story DLC This Month
@tehKAMI This is going to sound like I'm joking, but I'm serious.
As long as you've seen up to episode 700, you'll be fine for spoilers. It doesn't go above that.
No, I really have seen all the One Piece show and finished the game, not messing with you about that number.
Fun aside: at 49 years old, my wife bought me a Luffy statue kind of as a half joke/half celebration that sits ontop of the PS5 after Odyssey came out.
I married wisely!
Re: Rumour: Mortal Kombat 1 Is the Next Main Entry on PS5
Makes sense to reboot, given how complex and involving the plot is.
Yes, that was sarcasm.
Re: Dragon Age Narrative Lead Claims BioWare 'Quietly Resented' Its Writers
@nathanSF I don't blame Forespoken on the writers.
I thought the dialogue (during story, not any line spit out when off in battle) was perfectly natural and flowed. Neither the writing nor acting were issues for me.
The problem was the editing. The story was clearly chopped up and shortened, likely due to bad time management on other's part.
I can see a good story in there chopped down.
That lends weight to the guy in the article's argument of the developers themselves not giving enough priority, respect or attention to the plot or writers.
Re: Dragon Age Narrative Lead Claims BioWare 'Quietly Resented' Its Writers
@Fyz306903 The Yakuza/Like A Dragon series takes great offense at this!
Re: Dragon Age Narrative Lead Claims BioWare 'Quietly Resented' Its Writers
@wiiware For someone with such an appreciation for good writing, your post was a mess.
Re: Gigantic Saints Row Patch Notes Posted Ahead of Next Week's Major Update
I can see all the complaints on a tech level. It was a buggy mess, but I've been gaming over 40 years.
I survived Sonic Adventure 2.
I platinumed Assassin's Creed Unity on PS4 before it was patched. (still get flashbacks)
I can endure bugs.
And underneath those flaws in Saints Row, I had fun. Sometimes the bugs added more fun.
It's Saints. Every game was buggy. I'm down for more.
Re: $70 Games Could Be Hurting PS5, PS4 Sales, But There's More to the Story
I doubt it's a big deal.
Every company, any product, sees ebbs and flows in product and the world's economies have been shaky since end of 2020 on.
I think it's just inflation across the board. When people struggle, games are not a priority like food, water and a roof over the head.
Things in a bad economy to be hit hardest will always be games, movies and music.
Re: Microsoft Goes Scorched Earth Over UK's Activision Buyout Block
@ItsBritneyB_tch Best post in a thread filled with excellent posts.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Dead Island 2?
@NoCode23 Books over games? How dare you!
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Dead Island 2?
@nomither6 Dying Light's sold amounts would disagree with you.
Re: Random: Metal Gear Solid Singer Causes Stir with Unrelated Snake Eater Recording
So her claim is she was recording MGS3 dialogue just for the heck of it for herself for fun?
Somebody get that lady some water. Her pants are on fire.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy, PS5's Spellbinding Harry Potter Spin-Off, Massively Exceeded Sales Expectations
Re: The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Studio Clarifies 'Paywalled' Voice Acting DLC
@Uromastryx I'm going to get it.
You have fun skipping it. We'll both be content.
Re: The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Studio Clarifies 'Paywalled' Voice Acting DLC
This has got to be the hands down nerdiest thing to argue about.
It's Elf language. AND it's only different towards background NPC's, as well as being but one minor piece of what the ten bucks is asked for.
Even if you removed the voiceover in the offer, the rest would cost about ten bucks still. They're just doing what businesses do and trying to entice you with an extra that isn't needed.
You can play the game fine without it. Just do without and buy the base game if you're so bothered.
This is such a silly, minor thing to get worked up over.
Re: American Senators Continue to Target Sony Over PS5, PS4 Timed Exclusives
@Orpheus79V All party loyalists are blinded to different degrees.
Totally agree, both sides are dirty. Independent thinking on all situations and topics is always for the best.
Re: American Senators Continue to Target Sony Over PS5, PS4 Timed Exclusives
@TooBarFoo Sony as used is position as market leader to cost affectively get 3rd parties to withhold services from its smaller competitor....
======
Re: American Senators Continue to Target Sony Over PS5, PS4 Timed Exclusives
@HeeHo Timed exclusives are pure Capitialism.
A means to entice you towards one product over another, in this case a PS5 over an Xbox.....whatever the heck number they put after it now.
At best, you might try to stretch it to anti-consumer if the title were bought permanently exclusive.
Even then, you'd lose the case if it were brought to a court.
Only children would think exclusives were anti-consumer, due to the entire scope of their thinking being they want it, so it should go everywhere.
Re: American Senators Continue to Target Sony Over PS5, PS4 Timed Exclusives
What's especially stupid about this argument is to say timed exclusives with otherwise independent publishers would be anti-consumer, but buying up entire developers for use on only one console is not.
The irony is that I believe Microsoft has bought timed exclusivity in support from some politicians. Not only in America.
Re: Even More Final Fantasy 16 Info on 'Battle, Side, and Endgame Content' Coming Soon
Loved Forsaken and this is already preordered back when it had like 89 days to go countdown. 😄
I rarely pre-order, certainly not months in advance. I had faith in this one.
Of course, I have the money to burn, so I can be reckless.
Re: Suicide Squad PS5 Game Delay Now Official, Out in February 2024
I never had a problem. Thought the game looked good.
Not sure why anyone who didn't like it are complaining about a delay.
You didn't like it anyway.
Re: Preview: Single Player Spell-Based FPS Immortals of Aveum Looks Like Pure PS5 Magic
What if Call of Duty was set in a fantasy world where wars were fought with magic?
====
So like Ghostwire Tokyo, only not in Tokyo?
Re: The Outer Worlds Is Still a Mess on PS5, Two Patches Later
@LazyLombax Finished it would be a fact.
Loved it would be an opinion.
No issues would be a lie.
Re: The Outer Worlds Is Still a Mess on PS5, Two Patches Later
This reninds me of the whole thing where Sony is against Microsoft buying Activision and one of their claims was even if Microsoft still released on PS5, they might make the developer purposely not run the game as well as on Xbox.
Microsoft called that idea ridiculous.
Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo's Big PS5 Update Is Out Now, Adds New Content
My take is the same as most.
Love the gameplay and atmosphere, but story was severely lacking and felt like it was missing chunks.
Plot idea was sound, but it felt like it was edited wrong and cut forward too quickly.
But gameplay is always the most important and this played so smooth and natural feeling (far as button placement and how you do everything) I did every side quest and collectable, which I rarely do.
If they fixed up the story, then they'd have a masterpiece. Fingers crossed, maybe they did.
