Re: Now Your PS5 Is a Bona Fide KORG Synthesiser

bowzoid

I have this on iPad, Mac, Switch and soon PS5. I'm a big fan!

Great to see the graphical upgrade. Hope some of those extra synths become available as DLC at some point. The Sega Otoori (has sounds from Outrun, Powerdrift, Space Harrier etc) and Taito's Ebina (Darius, Ninja Warriors etc).

Shame about the lack of audio exporting. There's ways around it though.

I felt like this showcase was for the PS fans like me who miss the Japanese dev friutful overload of the mid 90's. Even onwards into the PS3 era where eventually outfits like Japan Studio would collapse.

This SoP was for us and it was great to see Sony read the room (the room with the older gamers in ).

Even more so, seeing how Sony have been actively looking to get into the fighting game scene. They've been sponsoring EVO etc, and now go to one of the best fighting game devs in the world and hook it up to one of the most reknowned crossover franchises the FGC have witnessed. Sounds like there are people at Sony who are tuned in and not sitting on the looter shooter/F2P/Hero shooter/open world slop train with their trousers down peeing into the wind.

Well done Sony.

Slightly disappointed by how this looks on PS5 Pro in Performance mode. The level of detail is pretty bad in the not very far away distance. You can see low quality textures, especially on the roads and it does take you out of the game a bit.

The game defaults to Quality mode, which does look beautiful, but the frame rate is half, but a bit jarring too. Maybe frame pacing is off. Might not even be hitting 30.

I understand that this is game is on a whole new engine and I maybe I shouldn't expect the visuals and performance to be similar to the much older Snowrunner, but Snowrunner is still absolutely gorgeous and runs at 60FPS.

The pop-in is pretty bad also.

I hope they can optimise further in updates as game itself is fun. Just being a Pro owner and the Roadcraft FAQ says there were Pro enchancements.

@ShogunRok Sorry to go on about PS5 Pro performance. So, if it's not very good at all for PS5 Pro, did you test it on standard PS5 for the majority and if so, is it ass ?
Im a massive MH fan, but I was pretty appalled with the image quality of the game on base PS5, so I did a potentially silly gamble and got a Pro for this game. It was a gamble, but Capcom came out weeks later to say there will be a patch for Pro on release. However, after reading this review, I am pretty much thinking I poo'd my pants thinking getting a Pro was going to save us.

I guess that PSSR didn't do the magics as it did on FFVII Rebirth (in terms of image quality). On the Wilds Beta, on base (and later on my Pro), the 60FPS mode's image quality would tend to smear the image at times. Pretty ugly. Ah well. That'll teach me.

Good review. Really looking forward to this.

If I may suggest, could PushSquare reviews come with a little check list featuring which graphical settings the game has i.e. Quality/Performance etc. Throw in Avg. FPS for these modes. Also, highlight whether the game supports Pro console variant and which graphical features that supports too (and it's avg FPS etc).

It could be presented in a seperate list box on the page, outside of the review.

Could also feature things like Accessibility, sound, and maybe even avg. game length.

Just a thought.

Re: The First Descendant (PS5) - A Mindless and Repetitive Grind

bowzoid

I've been playing for a week and I don't usually see myself playing F2P games, probably due to the stigma that's usually tied to them, but I have been enjoying this a lot. Yes it is mega grindy, but that's what I like. I like the repetitive runs, trying to get that 20% droprate item.

But hey, one person's ***** game is another person's GOTY and vice versa.

If you ever have a slight interest in a game, try and try it out for yourself before taking the words of other's as gospel. I guess maybe unless everyone on the internet is saying it's a dog's dinner. But I've seen really good, mid and low review scores for this.
