Hugely missed opportunity not having Sam from Death Stranding on your delivery surely…

A completely different flavour to episode 3 (thank god, I don’t think my heart could’ve taken something too similar twice in a row) but loved every minute of it. Again with the deviations, they just work for the medium really well imo. And so glad the puns are flowing thick and fast between the two of them already. 😸

Slightly tangential to the crux of the article, but this sentence hurt my heart:

“A second Tomb Raider movie starring Alicia Vikander was at one point planned, but was scrapped due to licensing issues.”

That sucks, to put it plainly. I would’ve definitely watched that. 😾

I have a feeling that’ll be yet another episode that leaves me sobbing on the couch. Can’t wait to see Ashley onscreen though.

My only frustration is not being able to rate this episode an 11/10 to be honest. And maybe Ramsey is not the Ellie we may think we know, but damn she’s Ellie to me.

Honestly though, given the majority of this episode (past the opening credits) rests on the shoulders of 3 principal actors - plus the writing, directing, score, and the magnificent set pieces - it’s an absolute marvel of an episode, and I’m so grateful Druckmann and the team have made these brilliant characters accessible to an even larger audience. 🌟

How is a game that has barely only been released to the public up to major version 3 already???? Was that its first release? What did versions 1 and 2 constitute?? 🤔🤪

As with Aaron, it’s exploring more of the desolately stunning wastelands of the post-parapocalyptic United Cities of America as I unravel more of the mystery of the Death Stranding 👀✨

In many ways I felt the characters even more well rounded, the tension/action/emotion still pulled no punches (unlike Joel omg amirite), and found the writing, acting, scenery, score, and directing all just flawless and 100% true to the games so far (even where the details deviated - and where they did, they did so expertly and appropriately for the medium). Can’t wait to see where they take the audience next.

And yes, I’m still so glad ND gave us this story as an interactive experience first (and foremost!), but for me this is absolutely pristine television and a brilliant way of opening these amazing characters up to an even wider audience. More like this, please. 😺

I adored Control for its creativity, aesthetic, and gameplay - so much that I platinumed it twice (PS4 and PS5 editions). I would 100% be “shut up and take my money” on any future extensions to its bizarre and captivating world. 😺👍🏼👍🏼

I can only hope this is going to finally bear some amazing (and psychologically horrifying) fruit. The Silent Hill series holds a special place in my heart (there was a HOLE there but it’s gone now).

As an Aussie, I’m struggling to swallow the pricing to move up from original/“Essential” (AU$80 annual) to either of the higher tiers (up to almost literally double). Then again, my current backlog is already probably 2 years long (RE7 even omg) so maybe I’m not the target market!

On the other hand… AU$155 a year for Deluxe, vs e.g. $140 outright for Returnal Deluxe Edition alone on the PS Store (i.e. “retail” price)? Maybe it isn’t such a bad deal after all… and maybe I’ll reassess once I make it through my backlog 😹

(oh and yeah I’m still dirty AU+NZ still don’t get PS Now - sorry, I mean “PS Plus Premium with PS3 Game Streaming”. srsly how hard is it to drop a room full of PS3s in a Sydney warehouse on a decent connection, sigh)

Astro is incredibly high on my list (as the ultimate love letter to both 3D platforming in general and PlayStation history itself) but so are the PS5 editions of Control and Uncharted 4 which are both stunning imo (and Control is just immersively incredible in and of itself).

Apart from Astro, I don’t think I actually own many/any other standout “PS5-exclusive” games tho…! 🌟

This will be a must-buy for me, couldn’t be more excited for this. It’s gonna be grrrreat! 😺

To buck the trend - after nabbing the PS5 upgrades to the last two Uncharted games (holy cats they’re BEAUTIFUL) I’ve been revisiting the whole “main” series from the start. Finally up (and about 5 hours in) to The Lost Legacy for the weekend… the Chloe-Nadine dynamic is fantastic. 🌟

Just an oddity… there’s over a dozen official categories, with Returnal dotted through two thirds of them… then you get to the “public vote” award, and not only is Returnal completely absent, but (correct me if I’m wrong) it’s the -only- category where Metroid Dread appears?? 👀😕

Hopefully “xcoolee” got paid decently for their efforts and not just in “exposure”… 😅
