Re: Virtua Fighter 5 Arrives on PS5 with New Single Player Mode and a $10 Upgrade Path

SuperJag86

If you bought the Yakuza, Tekken 7 or Legendary dlc packs for the PS4 version they're free for the PS5 version. They were free in the store after I bought the upgrade.
Game looks a bit sharper for sure but it looked nice on PS4!
The main reason would be for cross play online play with rollback netcode and the new single player mode.
I bought it for the latter and it's cool, it's similar to Quest mode from VF4 which was so good I thought they should include something similar in every fighting game as something for solo players to enjoy and give them a taste of how it is to progress online.

Re: Remedy Upgrades Control with PS5 Pro Support, New Patch Out Now

SuperJag86

Been waiting for this update and the HDR makes the colours look fantastic especially when the Hiss attack but the new AA helps too as in Quality mode there seems to be less blur on camera rotation.
Brilliant update but I really wish they added the ability to have multiple save files as you have to wipe your existing progress to start again.

Re: Xbox Game Pass May Make Devs 'Wage Slaves', Says Ex-PlayStation Exec

SuperJag86

I generally think Game Pass isn't good for the business because it devalues games and I feel like we've seen that play out this generation especially with Xbox players especially (but not exclusively) spending less on new games unless they're from big franchises.
So I agree with Layden when he says the point isn't how profitable it is but what is the impact on the industry but I'm less sure that it would make developers only make games to cash out.

Re: Rumour: Leaked PS6 Specs Reveal Affordable, Power Efficient Next-Gen Console

SuperJag86

@StrickenBiged said roughly 3 times the performance of PS5.

I don't get the anger over multiplatform releases as long as games are coming to the platform I'm playing on that's surely the most important thing to me!

With multiplayer games it's great as means more people to play against and more sales means we're more likely to get more games because it'll be easier to find enough of an audience for games to be successful.

Re: Tekken 8 Reveals 'Emergency' Patches as Player Backlash Spirals Out of Control

SuperJag86

Maybe it's cos I'm not at that top level but I've been playing Tekken since the PS1 days and I'm still really, really enjoying Tekken 8 online!
Maybe there's some moves that need to be looked at and hopefully these patches will fix them but it's still the best game in the series by miles and my favourite out of all the latest fighting games from the different companies.
For me Street Fighter 6 online started to become out of my league after the first year so stopped playing that and Strive is the one I will always go back to play but rarely online.

Re: Remaster Specialists Are Ready to Target the PS3 Next, And We Can't Wait

SuperJag86

We definitely need to go back and bring forward so many of the games made for PS3 not just first party but I'd definitely start there.
We really don't get the types of games we used to back then anymore and while indies and AA devs try to recapture some of the magic, they don't always have the budget or are able to capture enough attention from enough players to keep the projects profitable.

Re: Journalist Apologises for Adding Fuel to the 'Final Fantasy 16 Flopped on PS5' Fire

SuperJag86

@naruball Exactly! How many games do we lament that they never got a sequel or class as cult games? Happens too often.
There's also this obsession with concurrent player counts as a metric for success lately. It makes some sense with multiplayer games but why does it matter when it comes to single player games. The whole point there is you can play when you want!
I'm sure it's because it's one of the only data points we can gather ourselves thanks to Steam's openness but it all feels like we're talking to each other as if we're marketing not players.

Re: Journalist Apologises for Adding Fuel to the 'Final Fantasy 16 Flopped on PS5' Fire

SuperJag86

I've never understood why a game not selling well seems to be a reason for some people to think the game wasn't good.
I absolutely loved 16 and it felt like a return to how the games felt back in the PS1 days both in terms of scope and spectacle.
The story hooked me throughout and the world felt so rich with details.
I also really like the FF7 Remake series but I struggled to get thru Rebirth because it just felt like there was too much to get thru when it opens up which isn't tied to the main quest and because you can't go back you feel like you need to do everything.

Re: Tekken 8 Boss Katsuhiro Harada Schools Fan Over 'Disrespectful' Response to Anna PS5 DLC

SuperJag86

I love this. Someone needed to say it cos it's always brought up that devs are lazy and reuse old content while not having a clue how much work has gone in.
I'm actually relieved Tekken 8 is a success cos they really put in a lot of work into getting day 1 not only right but full of all the features that make it a complete game.
I think it's good to push back when there's ridiculous micros or features aren't complete but when someone nails it and charges fairly we should also get that too right?

Re: Naughty Dog Turns Off Intergalactic PS5 Trailer's Comments As Discourse Turns Nasty

SuperJag86

We're in some proper dark times if this is the typical reaction to a new game from a big studio.
I really don't get it, a new IP from a studio with a great track record that has more than a few nods to culture classics like Cowboy Bebop and Alien, what's wrong with these people?!
There was even some BS about how Ciri looks in Witcher 4!
Can we not just look forward to new games while hoping they're good and not complaining for the sake of stirring up fake controversies.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty Make Bank for CD Projekt Red with Impressive Sales Figures

SuperJag86

I think it's a case of both never forgetting what happened and celebrating a good game.
I got it at launch and naively assumed a game first announced and planned before the PS4 came out should have been able to run okay, but even then I was running it on a Pro and really they should have cancelled that version long before it was released.
It shouldn't be forgotten how they willingly release a broken product which had really strong launch sales before the refund process started.
The real launch for me was the 1.5 "next gen" launch which really started to show what a good game it was but the final complete version was at the launch of Phantom Liberty.
Now it is a very special game which puts a lot of projects to shame with it's ambition and world they've created. If still unsure watch the excellent Edgerunners and if that doesn't get you excited to play it it's probably not for you!

Re: Alan Wake 2 Trapped in Financial Dark Place, 'Most' Development, Marketing Costs Recouped

SuperJag86

I hope so cos it's a gem of a game but I think given how this struggled to recoup dev costs I doubt we'd see an Alan Wake 3 now.
If people thought it was the game to hang cos of lack of physical why didn't they turn up when Remedy released a more complete version physically?
I think we're going to see more and more game series die if we focus more on the YouTube drama of the week over the quality of the game itself.

Re: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Pre-Orders Live Now on PS5

SuperJag86

Something looked off so I went to look at some PS3 gameplay of the original and there's no character shadow! So she doesn't look connected to the ground.
I was really looking forward to this but the fact it looks worse than the original and lacks the OST makes it feel like a cheap attempt to raise money.
Grasshopper did a better job when they re released the first two No More Heroes games and didn't charge a ridiculous price either.
Hopefully Shadows of the Damned will be better!

Re: Reaction: PS5 Livestreams Are No Longer Speaking to the Fans Who Built the Brand

SuperJag86

So I appreciated them showing all new stuff and games we can expect to see in the near future at the State of Play.
I understand the sentiment but Sony are in a no win situation there. The big games that made the brand need so much time to develop now especially as the quality expectations from the audience are sky high. They also get ripped if they announce something and have to change or push it back so I understand the need for not announcing things super early.
I think the games we want are coming, it's just Sony are being more organised in how it's all scheduled. They said at the start of this year not to expect anything from an established IP which is what we got.
When GTA takes over a decade, we need to be patient if we want the high quality first party games we got during PS4, which all were in development for a very long time before they came out too.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 529

SuperJag86

I got the plat in Stellar this week so might replay DMC5. I want to try Animal Well and might carry on with Tales of Kenzara but it hasn't really clicked so far.
Wizard with a Gun has a free weekend on Steam so playing that on the Deck too. It's pretty fun from a game genre I'm not normally a big fan of.

Re: GTA Publisher Claims It 'Didn't Shutter' Roll7, Intercept Games

SuperJag86

Damn it I was hopeful for a second that they were still alive but Take Two's dodging of questions makes me feel it's more a case of they don't want to announce it yet rather than it not being true.
Schreier's tweet about the BioShock 2 studio says it all.
It's absolutely criminal if true as Roll7 are one of the gems of the gaming industry. I really hope they can rebuild from this because we need people like them making games with class and heart.

Re: Shift Up Director Puts Stellar Blade, Sony Costume Conspiracy to Bed

SuperJag86

Well I unlocked those outfits that were "censored" and you miss the detail in the screenshots but I can believe the director when he says they were the final versions because they look better.
There are still plenty of other outfits that are for the thirsty and with plenty of bounce!
I also just have to say as I came to the end of the game this week how much fun I had with it. A properly good time with great combat and lots of unlockables whether it's gear to tweak your play style or outfits to look cool it's been absolutely brill.
And a game with so many cosmetic unlocks in the game shouldn't be so special but these days it feels like a unicorn.

Re: Talking Point: Have Sony's Third-Party PS5 Deals Made Up for Its Lack of First-Party Games?

SuperJag86

It's definitely a case of I think we all want more from Sony first party because you can't beat the quality they provide and while it feels like we're waiting a long time that's also because we expect a certain level of quality.
That's why it's been really smart to lean on third party but even then games like FF16 and 7 Rebirth are incredible projects along with the gems that are Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade.
It all means we've always got something to play on PS5 and that's before the great non exclusives like games from Capcom etc.
Part of the problem is with how long games take to make and how much they cost means we're getting a lower variety of experiences than we used to. Thats also where indie games that come out more frequently and with so much imagination and innovation make up for that if you let it.

Re: Helldivers 2 PC Is Getting Review Bombed Over PSN Requirement

SuperJag86

It says everything about the gaming community at the moment. People blow up about everything so the things that are real issues get mixed with the things that aren't a big deal and it feels like everything is overreacted to.
It's not just the players and online discussions tho, I've noticed it from reviewers (more from the classically mainstream sites) too where they'll pick apart one game for the tiniest things and ignore that same issue in another game.
It's why I prefer places like Push Square or the more sensible content creators who you can feel are genuine players rather than people who have to write stuff solely cos it's their job or someone online just wanting to complain for the sake of it.

Re: 13 New PS Plus Extra, Premium Titles Yours to Download Now

SuperJag86

Been looking forward to Resi 3 for a while and keen on playing the Phoenix Wright games finally.
Great to see Cool Boarders back and hope they bring the sequel in future months.
I generally thing Extra is a decent tier but the top tier needs to dig into it's classics library a lot more as it feels they're not putting as much effort as they should. There's still a huge number of PSP and PS1 games that worked on Vita BC that haven't come over yet.

Re: Rumour: Dragon's Dogma 2 Runs at 30fps on PS5

SuperJag86

If we want next gen games to start to push things forwards we are going to have to expect 30fps more often. These are consoles after all and while 60 and above is really nice I've always been fine with 30 on consoles as long as it's stable. This sane debate everytime a game is coming out is boring. Let the devs decide what's best for each game and if you're desperate to power through that there's always PC!

Re: God of War Creator Says Kratos Has Lost His Way

SuperJag86

There were moments in Ragnarok that were so subtle that blew me away and I think 2018 worked so well because it was about Kratos evolution as a character. I loved the older games but the same thing today just wouldn't have the same impact as it did back then. I've really enjoyed the ride we've gone on together and can't wait to see where they go next!

Re: Sony Delays Six Live Service PS5 Games, But Company Remains Committed to Model

SuperJag86

I think this is good news as more time to make sure whatever they make is of a good quality is key for any chance of success.
At this point "live service" has become term with a lot of stigma but it's just a label. All the best live service games were good games first and a live service second and all the flops were because they focused on it being a service first.
So Sony are doing the right thing is making sure they make sure the games are good in the first place before worrying about whether they can be supported in the long term.

Re: EA Sports WRC (PS5) - Don't Swerve This Intense, Well-Rounded Rally Racer

SuperJag86

I'm surprised there's a point about the difficulty being off considering it's customisable with AI difficulty settings going from 1-100. Definitely a better option than a simplified Easy/Medium/Hard which is much harder to find the sweet spot on.
I picked it up at launch and been having a lot of fun with it. It definitely puts up a firm challenge but the controls are responsive and feels good on a dualsense.
Theres so much to do given the amount of stages and vehicles from every age of rallying and it's only £45 which makes it a no brainer for anyone interested in rally games.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for November 2023 Announced

SuperJag86

Normally there's one game I'm at least reasonably interested to try but this month seems poor. Played Mafia 2 a few times already and the Dragonball game looks terrible.
Maybe the Aliens game will be a fun blast for a few evenings? Anyone played it and recommends it?
The big game this month will be Teardown coming later in the month to Plus Extra.

Re: Destiny 2 Fans Demand Refunds for Next DLC After Bungie Layoffs

SuperJag86

I'm a bit confused by this, people losing their jobs is sad and I hope they can find work elsewhere but without sounding unsympathetic it is something that does happen in workplaces everywhere.
I don't think it's reasonable for companies to keep people employed indefinitely no matter what happens.
If sales aren't what was expected that means budgets will be reduced so cuts are an unfortunate option. Not the only option by any means and of course there are other things they could have done.
I think we have to be careful separating companies like Facebook punishing the workforce for a failed idea by it's CEO (the cuts after the metaverse mess) and companies having to keep a balance.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 500

SuperJag86

Congratulations Push Square!
It's interesting hearing Ollie's take on Alan Wake, I wonder if it's something about Remedy games that make certain players feel that way as it's the exact way I felt about Max Payne 2, Alan Wake and most of all Control.
I think it's the layers, nothing is ever what it seems and I think that side of their games is very attractive to certain mindsets!
So yeah I'll be finishing off Spider-Man 2 so I can fully concentrate on Alan Wake 2.
Couldn't help but start AW2 on launch day and the opening chapter already gave me chills in all the right places!

Re: Poll: Spider-Man 2 PS5 Bugs are Apparently a Real Problem, But Have You Had Any?

SuperJag86

I've played about 20 hours and no major bugs at all. The only thing that happened was the audio cut out in a side quest cutscene but it came back as soon as I hit pause. Feels rock solid to me but obviously bugs do happen so I hope no one is affected in a major way and if there are any that Insomniac get on top of them soon.
I remember for Jedi Survivor earlier this year there was a major bug that would stop bounties from appearing and it really frustrated me as I couldn't get the platinum. I was surprised it took Respawn months to get that sorted but Sony First Party are normally really quick at getting patches out.

Re: PS Plus Premium Has a 'Bigger Share' of Subscribers than PS Plus Extra, Says Sony

SuperJag86

That's cos they don't let you switch down easily and I reckon they have a lot of subs where people trusted Sony to deliver but the first year has been rubbish for Premium. I want to go down to Extra but have to wait for my current sub to end.
Extra has been pretty good tho even without a lot of day one releases. I hope they keep adding some special indies as day one and they really need to do better with Premium but I worry that looking at the numbers Sony will think they don't have to.
