Tekken 8 Season 2 Patch Notes

Season 2 of Tekken 8 is here, and a huge, game-spanning balance update is available to download right now on PS5.

There was a lot of commotion leading up to this patch, and it's safe to say that it's now causing meltdowns. Having been previewed across a couple of developer videos, the worry was that Season 2 would make the game even more aggressive, bolstering things like the already oppressive Heat system.

And guess what? That's almost exactly how it's turned out. The Season 2 patch notes are absolutely massive, and the general consensus is that every character has been handed new tools that either increase their damage potential, strengthen their offensive pressure, or both.

Again, Tekken 8 has pushed aggression as a core aspect of the game since launch. Many players will argue that the series' legacy gameplay mechanics have been watered down as a result — especially on the defensive side of things — with all-out pressure being the most effective strategy when it comes to gaining the upper hand.

To be fair, though, Season 2 does nerf some of the title's more abusable moves. Characters like Jin, King, and Kuma have been hit with fairly substantial downgrades on specific attacks — although having said that, they've also been given powerful new tools just like everyone else.

It'll obviously take a while to see how this all shakes out — particularly at higher skill levels — but right now, it's hard to look past the fact that Tekken 8 just became an even more oppressive, offence-orientated fighting game.

You can peruse the full Season 2 patch notes on the official Tekken website, but as mentioned, they're colossal — so you'd better make yourself comfortable before diving in.

Of course, it goes without saying that the online Tekken community is currently losing its collective mind. The Tekken subreddit is a perfect example, it being utterly packed with posts asking if Season 2 is an April Fools' joke. There's an overriding disbelief regarding the game's balance trajectory.

But hey, at least Anna seems fun!
