Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on Metal Gear Solid 5, 10 Years Later?

Stueeeee

I remember going to a Game midnight launch for this one, not many people there but the staff and customers were chatting about their favourite MG games and memories which was nice. Played it until at least 4am being amazed that it was MGS in an open world. The gameplay was and still is tense and engrossing z and easy to immerse into. But some of the missions can be tedious.
I was disappointed it didn't go anywhere else except Afghan and South Africa.

I do think there is something in when people say Phantom Pain title he was maybe intentionally making you feel like it's missing things.. voice actor, empty open world, Solid Snake as a child when Liquid is there, late missions being replays etc. Obviously this bleeds into him being removed which must be the only reason why Chapter 3 was not there.

I do like the bait and switch on this one as he had only done it on MGS2 and everyone started to get a bit complacent again ha. The fact that we are all Big Boss and contributing to the legend forever more than then is heard about in all othe rmgs games is clever...but I was hoping to come across a young Sniper wolf and Frank Jeager along with other cameos that just didn't happen. Having David Hayter anywhere in it would've helped fans too.
And playing it up to the start of Operation Intrude would really have come full circle but at least he almost got there with the last few cut scenes and cassettes....

Re: Sony Remembers the PS3 in Surprise Firmware Update

Stueeeee

Still have my Slim with 1TB HDD plugged in and hooked up! Still has much of media content from the 10 years from when I bought it.
Loved the XMB and dynamic themes and don't think PS4 or PS5 UI really improved upon it (other than being faster!)

I don't play it as much as I'd like ..but still many games I want to re play or indeed play through!

Re: E3 Is Officially Dead

Stueeeee

Quite sad about this. I remember discovering it back in 2003 when I was at school! In later years around the PS4 launch I used to stay up late and watch it, knowing it was a massive event and it would be worth watching and reading about because there was always something that came out of it.
I thought Sony's conferences were often one of the best, not just games but the big "characters" out on stage chatting away and talking about all things Playstation. I still miss those days..theses days of Directs and State of Play are simply no match and often not worth watching.

Maybe it was a dinosaur, but it created so much hype for the industry. And the industry needs hype as it is heading to a weird place at the moment.

Re: PS Plus Subscriptions on Sale Now, But There's a Big Catch

Stueeeee

This happened to me last year!
After having deals on PS Now and OG PS+ they automatically upgraded me to Premium which was nice...until Black Friday when I wanted to get my usual yearly extension but with the 3 tiers I wanted to opt for PS + Extra and not be on Premium and wasn't able to!
So I let it lapse in the new year, and have paid for the odd month of Essential here and there this year. Got a ShopTo PSN card with the discount on it and then got a year of discounted Essential for now...
Really wish they'd change do something with the Tiers so this doesn't happen. Money grabbing. Yet people used to buy 2+ years worth of subs and no longer can.

Re: Reminder: Last Chance to Stack PS Plus Subscriptions Before Price Rise

Stueeeee

When I automatically had Premium from OG PS+ and Now, I tried to Black Friday it with Extra and it wouldn't work, so from then on once it had lapsed (the following month) I didn't renew.
Twice since then they've emailed me with a discounted price to rejoin and I took up one of the offers for 3 months I think it was.
But from now I think I'll just do monthly Extra as and when since those have not gone up.

Re: PS Plus Is Down Year-Over-Year, But Making More Money

Stueeeee

Now I was a long-term subscriber from 2010 and then had PS Now in addition for a time after getting a decent discount..the tiers automatically upgraded me to Premium which was nice but I didn't make the most of the classics collection/streaming as I thought. So when Black Friday came around I was going to buy a year or two's worth of Extra, but because the Premium hadn't expired they wouldn't let me subscribe to any other tier even if I cancelled it!
So Sony lost me altogether for now as I let the sub expire earlier this month and haven't resubscribed for even Essential.

Re: PS3 Emulation Allegedly in Production for PS5

Stueeeee

I definitely miss the era of Shaun Layden/ Jack Tretton, Andrew House, Shu Yoshida etc being out on the stage. I used to tune into E3 and PSX for a lot of that mainly.
There seems to be no proper personalities coming through atm which I think is what helped them get through the PS3 era.

Re: Poll: Is PlayStation Losing Ground to Xbox?

Stueeeee

I think PS has some time before it properly loses ground but I am happy all the things mentioned in this article is getting attention.
I for one miss the era of recognised faces of PS on the stage and peculiar games released alongside the big story driven tent poles. PS3 era turned out to be one of my favourites, once Sony really made an effort to get back on course.

Re: PlayStation Fans Are Missing Shawn Layden, And He's Liking All the Tweets

Stueeeee

Yes bring back Kevin Butler!
I did like Shawn Layden and Jack Tretton before him, along with Shu and Andrew House and then Mark Cerny. Even though there were still some bad decisions made back then it just felt like they cared more and had a passion for PS, and all companies make mistakes but learn from them...
I really remember enjoying the E3 press conferences and the PSX show in later years. I'd almost look forward to seeing what they had to say as much as the trailers for games etc!
Hope Sony can get back to something like that someday.

Re: Reaction: What Next for PlayStation?

Stueeeee

I like these kind of articles. Although this one packs some punches, I agree with all the points made and yeah I would like to see a return to the mid-late PS3 era Sony with good communication and some more competition. I think PS Now could really be more of a competitor especially if they baked PS plus in with it and added majority of older PS family titles.

Re: PS5 Backwards Compatibility: Can You Play PS3, PS2, and PS1 Games on PlayStation 5?

Stueeeee

Perhaps they could position PS Now even more as a service that not only has some recent games but a whole load of big PS1 PS2 PS3 and maybe even PSP/Vita titles to help people find for nostalgia. Although this is not a fix for the money already been spent. I have a PS3 still alongside my PS5 as I've got much of my photos and home videos on there as well as many PS3 games.

Re: Poll: Did You Miss E3 2020 Last Week?

Stueeeee

Yeah I miss it. Disappointed that Song pulled out beforehand as well. The PS4 E3 show was fantastic and as mucha s I enjoyed the PS5 event it didn't have the same spirit with guys on stage and a cheering audience.

Re: Feature: Uncharted 2 Kickstarted a New Age of First Party Success for Sony

Stueeeee

Absolutely loved UC2 as well... I do love 4 and it's ending as well. I think it may just be that when UC2 came out I associate it with great times in my life back then so I look back with fondness.
I certainly agree with it kickstarting Sony's greatness with games.
However, I fear that with PS5 it may not be as easy, they really tried with PS4 to get fans back after the PS3 lost a few to 360- now they are back on top they may rest on their laurels. I also remember PS3 years starting with an arrogance from Sony and we've lost a few key Sony people in the last few years that the fans had good rapport with so fingers crossed...
