Re: PS5 Costs Too Much, But These New Xbox Price Increases Are Just Absurd

I wouldn't be surprised if we get a mid October notice from Sony of a PS5 price increase notice prior to the GT6 release. You know Sony is discussing it and weighing the pros and cons ... they would be fools not to thinking about it.

They will be monitoring the pre-orders and if folks are getting the $100 full-game version of GT6 in overwhelming numbers, I think they will.

I'm going to wait at least a year past the release date for this game at the very minimum before considering buying it. Sorry, but the industry has trained me to this game buying behavior.

You can pay full price for a game that will either need updates or be abandoned by the publisher ... or wait a year to see if they support it and if they do, get it 50% off.

The price of this game will have a huge impact on all of us. Investors and banks are pressuring Rockstar to increase the price of the game so the rest of the industry can justify more expensive games. If Rockstar wants to be a rock star, they will list it at $69.99.

We shall know soon ...

The PS6 will be, in my opinion, at least $1000 based on the $900 price-tag of the PS5 Pro. Even hardcore gamers are going to balk at that price. And game developers are going to make the games for the PS5 instead of the PS6, because that is where the majority of "consumers" are. We already witnessed this with the transition from the PS4 to the PS5.

Sony doesn't have a Zelda game hidden up their sleeve to sell a system at that price ... heck, it is taking them 7 years to release a God of War game for the PS5.

I'm perfectly fine with the PS5.

All you need for a good game is some mushrooms, turtles, a princess to save, and most importantly, fun mechanics.

Get rid of anyone that can't make a game in under 4 years. Get rid of real actors and motion caption. No microtransactions and a good single player game. And throw any CEO out of the window that wants to put ads in $80 games.

It's not brain science, it's rocket surgery!

Re: Fascinating PS5 Sales Estimates Peg Ghost of Yotei as a Triumph

I didn't see much of any hype for Saros from Sony. The first I became aware of it is when it popped up on PSN store for pre-order about a month prior to release. Compared to GoW which may be over a year or more away and is getting tons of hype. Or Wolvorine. I would argue that Saros needed even more promotion since it wasn't coming from an established franchise.

Strange for Sony not to promote an exclusive single player game, especially since there are only of handful of exclusive games that have been released on PS5.

Why doesn't Sony put out press releases bragging about the Ghost of Yotei sales numbers? It could boost interest. Brag about your company's triumph. Show us the numbers.

This site did a post on Pearl Abyss reporting that Crimson Desert has 6 million sales since March of this year. I think Pearl Abyss has put out three "brags" in since the game released 3 months ago. I think it still sells at full price as well.

Look at Ubisoft Winnipeg's website. They have not done anything notable in their existence. I feel bad for anyone that loses their job, but if a Hamburger stand has been around for 8 years and only sold a few hamburgers, the talented hamburger-makers employed there would have left long ago to work for someone who cares about selling good hamburgers.

The game is a success in the fact that they are making money. But they left money on the table just because of a few tweets … it should be ahead of the first game in sales by a good margin, not trailing, especially with all the glowing reviews. If I were a developer, I would make it a term of condition upon hiring that no social media is allowed if a single tweet can cost millions of potential dollars to be lost. You will see more AI actors and voices too as a result of this phenomenon.

Re: Sep 2025 USA Sales: Ghost of Yotei PS5 Boycott Fails, Sequel Sells 'Great'

PS4's sold as of 10/22/2020: 110.4M (source psu.com)
PS5's sold as of 10/22/2025: Over 87M (source: this site)

So about 21% smaller user base could be used. I don't know what the bump for making a sequel equates to. Halo 2 sold 54% more than Halo

This is rabbit hole you crawl down when trying to connect dots the way you want the dots connected.

EA did a press release (see EA.com press releases) totally bragging about selling over 7 Million copies in three days. Three days. Over 7 million.

If you like playing a game, review it without being unbiased and I will decide from there. I have to deduct several points from a review score when I see a review site using questionable assumptions to promote buying a game.
