Re: PS5, PS4 Looter Shooter The First Descendant Is Proving a Colossal Hit

PaperAlien

@Kanji-Tatsumi People shouldn't get over the review at all, mainly because it was one of the worst things ever written on this website, it was clearly written by someone who had no interest in the game whatsoever (which is fine btw) but if your gonna give any game a 3/10 score (also fine) you would expect the review to go into details about why, there was none of that, what was written was inaccurate and didn't include a single thing about anything the game had to offer beyond shooting things with guns.

If you read and look to reviews to inform part of your judgement on whether to play/buy a game then you should want reviews to be written well and detailed, and this review just wasn't any of those things.

Re: PS5 Pro Is Seemingly Starting to Appear in Source Code

PaperAlien

I barely play my PS5, its just dusty bones at this point. I'm mainly playing retro or indies when I can be bothered to game with the occasional bit of D2 thrown in, this gen has literally put me off gaming for the first time ever. I did not fork out almost £600 to play remasters of last gen games and bland cookie cutter cross gen sequels. Where's the innovation? the new IPs?

Re: Publishers Bail on Live-Service Flops Too Quickly, Says Warframe Boss

PaperAlien

He's right but the gaming landscape is very different to when Warframe was released, its absolutely over-saturated with live service games and if your game isn't making an impact on release, its pretty much facing a near impossible task to recover from it.

The only game I can think of that was abandoned too early was Anthem, a real shame it wasn't given its proper chance. Nobody is sticking about for generic superhero brain rot like Suicide Squad no matter how many updates it gets, cos why would they? Its nothing special in a market absolutely full of Superhero games.

Re: Concord's Free Open Beta Is Performing Abysmally on PC

PaperAlien

Concord is a good game? Its pretty much the only website that seems to think it is, after THAT 3/10 review for a game thats doing far better than this. I just dont trust this websites reviews anymore.

I dont wish for any game to fail, as it must be soul destroying for anyone working on a title that ends up that way, but this game is DOA, its not even up for debate. Those Twitch figures are utterly abysmal, if the game was any good it would be attracting an audience, I'm a complete no-mark streamer who only streams once in a blue moon, but even I've had more viewers than that.

Re: Doubt Cast Over PS5 Pro Actually Releasing This Year

PaperAlien

There is literally less than a handful of PS5 only games that have even slightly tickled what the PS5 can actually do, what do we need a Pro for? to make all those remakes remasters cross gen games pop-off? if there is a PRO its just a pure cash grab, this has been the most disappointing gen in a long time.

Re: The First Descendant (PS5) - A Mindless and Repetitive Grind

PaperAlien

Very harsh review TBH, Its not a 3/10 game at all, its most definitely a mid range looter with lots of room for improvement, so falls in the 5/6/7 range. Quite a few different guns with unique abilities that def can change a build quite a lot.

Review also doesnt mention all the buildcrafting and modding possibilities, which can get quite involved and can change your character from a wimpy glass cannon to an overpowered DPS machine.

Is it grindy? absolutely, if you want those OP mods and builds youre gonna need to grind a bit for them, but its relatively straight forward as the game signposts where you get the resources and mods to drop from, so its just a matter of replaying certain missions, boss fights etc

Its holding my attention more than I expected, and I prob wont delve tooo deep into the buildcrafting and grinding, but having fun with it atm

Re: The First Descendant Enjoys Strong Launch Numbers, Teases Content Roadmap

PaperAlien

Im enjoying atm, its very Warframe meets Outriders, it is nothing like Destiny 2. I know its free, but the customisations and MTX are over the top insane in this, excluding the battle pass, we have Panda costumes, gross school girl costumes, and then theres all the other stuff, like namecards, spawns, UI interfaces, weapon skins, colour palettes, all for real money of course.

So i'll see, I'll prob play the campaign but the insane grind for everything and all the MTX stuff will prob make me lose interest much quicker than expected.

Re: Destiny 2: The Final Shape (PS5) - Bungie's Promise Fulfilled

PaperAlien

Its been an absolutely brilliant expansion so far, they really knocked it out of the park, been playing since D1 days, and seeing the story end got me choked up a few times.

The way the campaign continued into the insane raid and then continued into a final 12 player mission once the raid was beat for the true end was masterful.

Re: Sea of Thieves Reportedly a 'Key Test' for More Xbox Games on PS5

PaperAlien

I dont really understand this... I have zero interest in this game but if I want to see something like Forza or Starfield on a PS5 then this game needs to sell well? Make it make sense!

Its impossible to judge the success of other types of games based on how well some semi live-service game sells, whats the metric, sell as many copies as it did on XBOX? where its also available on gamepass.

Re: Random: Seven Years Later, No Man's Sky's Reputation Is Slowly Improving

PaperAlien

They deserve the world to be honest, its a small team and they have slogged their guts out to deliver high quality updates and all for free, they have more than earned the right of "being redeemed"

No Mans Sky is a game I play weekly, its just a lovely vibe and to do whatever you want, and with no microtransaction stores or overpriced DLCs or login bonuses its just a game that respects your time however you want to play it.

Super refreshing and super chill, and its always the game I turn to for a bit of escapism if im having a hard time of it in the real world.
