450 dollars is totally justifiable when you realize prices have gone up almost 30% (!!) since 2017. Not mentioning the word "inflation" once is a mistake on Sammy's part.

Instant buy, I have been waiting for this game for years!
According to the developer on Reddit, the game runs in 4k/120fps on the base PS5, so I think I will choose this one over the Switch version.

Why a mini review? This is what Saturday nights with friends will look like from here on.

BG3 is still relatively niche, Tears of the Kingdom and Spider-Man 2 are not. Not sure if the audience is big enough to make it GOTY.

The point is that online authentication is a huge blow to freedom of choice, hardware preservation and accessibility. Owning the digital model doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t care about these things?

@BeerIsAwesome So people that bought the digital edition should have no problem with these restrictions and limitations? That doesn't make any sense to me. Limited options to buy and having no control over your own disc drive sucks. This is in no way a positive development for consumers.

I hate it when Sony goes anti-consumer. This is clearly a decision that is put in place to sell more Blue-ray disc drives.

@Slippship Lots of things can be said about Switch, but having few releases during the past 6 years is not one of them.

Now that's how you do an advertisement hahaha. I was already sold on this game but getting this for free on PSVR2 makes it even better!

I mean, if it has an OLED screen, fast WiFi and all the bells & whistles of the DualSense controller I would definitely be interested. I can see my self playing Octopath Traveler II in bed with some real buttons.

@__jamiie For end users: it's form factor. The current PS5 requires a lot of space in the living room — not everyone likes that. There are also some issues with the stand and keeping it stable. Removal of the plates could be made easier, so users can easily reach the SSD. Disk spinning is relatively loud still and could use improvement too.

For Sony's perspective, a slim version with external DD could significantly reduce costs. The base copper plate and the amount of metal attached to the cooling system's heat pipe were already reduced in size, so that leaves the opportunity to make the console thinner. Smaller units also means less storage space and reduced packaging costs. I wouldn't be surprised if a Slim version is closer to release than everyone thinks.

@__jamiie Yes, it's time. Sony already made changes to the internals twice since November 2020, reduced the size of the heatsink, etc. Taking out the disc drive will further decrease production costs, so it's only a matter of time before they announce a slimmer version.

PS4 Slim also released less than 3 years after the initial launch btw.

PS5 Slim / Lite with external disc drive makes the most sense. It’s time.

@Bingbongboyo Moss and Tetris are excellent games for starting with VR. Both can be played seated and have no character movement.

Can't wait! The game looks like a well crafted console game now. Ubisoft also includes an Early Adaptor Pack if you buy the game before April 16, so that'll be an additional bonus if you decide the buy the game after the free trial has ended.

I already listened to (parts of) the soundtrack on the Square Enix website, the music in this game is absolutely phenomenal! I am very much looking forward playing this next Friday. (Completed the demo and now patiently waiting LOL)

Backed this game on Kickstarter (both on PS5 and Switch), I can't wait!

Well this is odd. I would love to play Shin Chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation, but the game is not available in the PS Store of my region (Netherlands). Does anyone know more about this?

@Pat84 They confirmed in their blog post the upgrade costs $9.99 USD / €9.99 for owners of the original game. So I would take that as a no.

Happy to see Tetris Effect back as a launch title. Also interested in The Last Clockwinder (as long as I don't have to be a robot counting apples). What the Bat! looks like fun too.

@Matej Or: buy a Backbone, use Remote play while you have the controllers attached to your mobile phone. These type of games work well on a smaller screen indeed.

I also find it hard to make a choice here: performance and loading times are clearly not an issue on Switch for this game, so the only reason to get this on PS4/PS5 is trophy support. Having an internal debate, once again, about the (in)significance of trophies.

Love the colorful world & characters... and taking photographs. So I actually pre-ordered this game back in December already!

I turned it off due to clunky controls and unexpected cursing. I just wasn't able to connect with it.

@LiamCroft Kayak VR: Mirage is missing from the list (it's also showing in the PS Store).

Trophies do not transfer from the PS4 version, unfortunately. So I am not sure if I should start playing from scratch again... or not care about trophies at all and continue with DLC and collectibles on my +100 hour save file.

The much debated "Walked the path" trophy is in the PS5 version as well, which means you can only get platinum by completing the game on "Death March!" difficulty. I guess that ship has sailed as well then.

This game will bring some balance to Sony's launch window, which is already dominated by shooters and horror games. I really like it!
