Re: Where to Pre-Order GTA 6 on PS5

I always find it funny that the whole of Europe is ignored in these posts. 2nd market on the planet, probably the biggest chunk of the Pushsquare user base, yet so so far away from the UK.

@NerdyPaul In think most people get that nuance. It's fine for reviewers to have a different opinion or give a lower score, as long as they can explain why. But if they completely lack an affinity for the genre and don't understand what its audience expects, their opinion loses a lot of weight and credibility.

A tip for the Pushsquare editorial team (from my time as a magazine editor): if you want to provide truly useful and fun to read reviews that help people decide whether or not to buy a game, it's always best to assign a writer who has some affinity for that specific game or genre. Why bother reading this review (or even reviewing the game) at all?

@BeerIsAwesome You are literally saying digital players don’t have to complain about online authentication simply because they download everything anyway. Who is putting words in someone’s mouth here now?

The point is that online authentication is a huge blow to freedom of choice, hardware preservation and accessibility. Owning the digital model doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t care about these things?

Re: Rumour: Unannounced Sony Hardware in the Works, Releasing Before PS5 Pro

@__jamiie For end users: it's form factor. The current PS5 requires a lot of space in the living room — not everyone likes that. There are also some issues with the stand and keeping it stable. Removal of the plates could be made easier, so users can easily reach the SSD. Disk spinning is relatively loud still and could use improvement too.

For Sony's perspective, a slim version with external DD could significantly reduce costs. The base copper plate and the amount of metal attached to the cooling system's heat pipe were already reduced in size, so that leaves the opportunity to make the console thinner. Smaller units also means less storage space and reduced packaging costs. I wouldn't be surprised if a Slim version is closer to release than everyone thinks.

@__jamiie Yes, it's time. Sony already made changes to the internals twice since November 2020, reduced the size of the heatsink, etc. Taking out the disc drive will further decrease production costs, so it's only a matter of time before they announce a slimmer version.

PS4 Slim also released less than 3 years after the initial launch btw.

@Matej Or: buy a Backbone, use Remote play while you have the controllers attached to your mobile phone. These type of games work well on a smaller screen indeed.

I also find it hard to make a choice here: performance and loading times are clearly not an issue on Switch for this game, so the only reason to get this on PS4/PS5 is trophy support. Having an internal debate, once again, about the (in)significance of trophies.
