Brit Baker ❤️ The game itself doesn't look too bad. I'm not a graphics afisionado so definitely not a deal breaker for me. Looks like it could be a fun pick up and play style game for switch (provided they actually polish that version)
I don’t have plus but this looks to be a very good month! I imagine a lot of the attention will go to Yakuza and Tony Hawks (no problem with that) but don’t forget Little Nightmares people! I had that game on gold about a year and a half ago and tried it on a whim. It turned out amazing, so much so that I bought the dlc (which I almost never do these days) and of course it’s sequel that somehow upped the ante (my personal goty of 2021)
I’ve arrived at the final boss of Xenoblade chronicles 3d. I would have never guessed I’d play my second most played 3ds game in 2022. Once I’m done with that I think I’ll return to tunic, really enjoyed what I played of it but it has been a week or two, I hope I won’t have to restart….
My psp didn’t have much of a life. I bought it about a week before the vita was announced which was just my luck… But I played some good games on it, the best in my opinion being Peace Walker. Runners up would be the two god of war games with Chains of Olympus bring my favourite of the two (just), persona 3 portable which got me into the series and…. Ye. That’s about it. Looking forward to trying crisis core though.
The Callisto Protocol. I’m a big dead space 1 and 2 fan and whilst I hope it will differentiate itself a bit more from its inspiration it sure does look good! Stray, don’t know what it is really but that’s a plus in this day and age. Looks cool regardless. I got my fingers crossed for Steel rising but I don’t have enough faith in it yet. Same goes for little devil inside. A Plaques tale 2 of course, though that will be an Xbox game for me. I’m looking forward to Forspoken and God of war but I got a unfortunate gut feeling neither will win me over in the end.
Ye like hell I'm getting to all of this! So I'm gonna have to be picky. Calisto protocol is out in December if it doesn't get delayed and I'm not convinced dead space needs a remake so I'll scratch ds off for now. Don't know if I need two final fantasy's (especially as another launches this year) so I'll pick which ever one looks better. Persona 3 and 4, played them to death! Street fighter 6.... Ye I can't let that one go (unless they pull their ads trick again).
I got this game and played it for 35 hours or so... Barely made any progress in the story because of how much I just enjoyed the world. But my usual 'spending too much time doing pointless stuff in the open world' montra got me again and I felt the burnout on it. I've tried going back a few times but it just didn't feel as good then. Don't regret those 35 hours though!
Stuff like persona I think is fine the way it is. The games I'd like to see get upgrades are Bloodborne (faster loading more than anything, 60fps would also be welcome), The Last Guardian could use the help with the Frame drops, gravity rush 2 as well but also greater draw distance for that one. Red Dead Redemption 2 would be cool if they really went for it instead of Rockstars more recent next gen upgrades...
I really loved it when it first came out but as times gone on and my tastes in games have altered a bit I’ve mellowed out on it quite a lot. I’m even preferring the originals these day, especially 1, 3, and the PSP ones. I did enjoy the endgame a lot though, and story time with mimir was always a blast, but I didn’t feel the story (particularly Kratos’s story arc) gelled that well and ended very anti climatically for me (the arc, not so much the game). The axe was awesome but was really under utilised. And the world had way to much slow walking and climbing. Would have rathered the visuals take a hit than all the hidden loading. Once the cinematics faded away (the one shot camera was a gimmick!) and the world opened up in the endgame things got much better. The valkarie fights where a highlight. 8/10 from me. PS4 Sony games I’d put above are Resogun, Bloodborne, Gravity Rush 2, The Last Guardian and Uncharted 4
@OrtadragoonX It was actually my first final fantasy game (and I think my first jrpg besides Pokémon) so I was kind of blown away by it at the time, hadn't experience anything like it. But now that I've played many, many more games like it I'm scared to go back to it and ruin those innocent memories 😅
One of two final fantasy's I actually finished (13 was the other.... I know). I'm not certain I'd get a remake though, more excited for 7 part two considering I never finished the original version, that and they've actually started that so I'd like that be the priority for them. But none the less cool for those who want it.
@Porco to be fair you don't have to look far to see gamers asking repeatedly for ports and remakes (wind waker for switch for example, or final fantasy 7 for all those many years). Can't really blame publishers for giving the people what they want but I do agree with wanting more risky AAA games. Even though I wasn't a fan of death stranding I do respect it for trying something, more games that try something different would be great, demon's souls did it and created a whole new sub genre after all.
Depends on the game. I'd rather old, more dated games get remakes than personal favourites however. Something like legacy of Kain would be perfect for me, it's a series that looks kick ass but by the time I got around to it it was too far gone. For personal favourites usually I'd just prefer a port (or access via backwards compat)
@LN78 it's one of the last 'proper' games in the sense that almost every other game after that became a massive open world RPG (very similar to the Witcher 3). I personally prefer the older style but a lot of people would say otherwise. It's recreation of Paris is something special, especially the buildings which for the first time in the series where all made to scale with the real ones. Gives it all a sense of scale that works well with its parkour. You'll definitely get your 3 quids worth 👍
@LN78 that's a good deal. In my opinion it's got the best gameplay (with fighting, stealth and parkour) of the entire series. And the city of Paris they've created I imagine had held up really well visually. The side content got tiresome (there was so much of it) and the story I felt could have done with one more draft but overall one of the better games in the series. Hope you enjoy
55 hours into elden ring so far and I think I've only seen maybe about half the map. Very rare do I play a game this big that keeps itself interesting and exciting this deep in. I think they've outdone themselves. Giving legends Arceus a break after completing the story, finally switching (😃) to pikmin 3. Only a little into it so far but it's got a very unique charm to it. Early impressions say I'll enjoy the challenge mode more than the story as I'm looking forward to replaying particular missions over and over for better scores.
Ico, I've replayed both the last guardian and shadow of the collosus in recent years but I haven't played ico since the PS3 days, I'd like the fix that even if it's not the remastered version. Wouldn't mind some pre demon souls from software games showing up, big fan of their souls games but haven't given their previous work a go yet. The Metal gear solid saga would be a plus (remastering 4 would be very welcome so I wouldn't have to stream it)
I remember finally caving and buying a psp a week before the vita was announced (which had backwards compat with it). So I didn't really spend much time with it, and most of the games I did play from it I played on vita. Persona 3 portable, both God of wars and peace walker are my favourites (obvious answers I know)
One of the greats, it's a shame sky (despite trying it twice) couldn't grab me as much despite having a great concept. Still journey is more than worth a play as many here have said.
@Nyne11Tyme usually I like doing a similar thing to you but with the amount of 'must buys' for me squashed into the first half of this year some will just have to slip through the cracks until I have time/budget. Would have loved to support this game otherwise.
This game looks/sounds awesome and I wish I could support it at launch, but there's too many games right now I just couldn't delay getting. Looking forward to playing this probably summer time I reckon alongside the witch queen and Kirby.
The vita always felt like the console that should have been my favourite of all time but ended up being a bit disappointing (didn't get it's own God of war, gran turismo or metal gear...) Not without some good memories though.
Gravity rush is the definition of a flawed gem. One of my favourites ever. I originally bought it thinking it'll do as I wait for a vita infamous (which we never got) but ended up being much better than it.
Tearaway was one of the few games that made all the gimmicks of the vita make sense. Kind of felt like the vita was made with this game mind, such talented Devs.
Persona 3 portable/ 4 golden I was hesitant about. Really didn't think a school SIM game would be up my alley but nothing else of value was releasing so I went for it, borderline got addicted to them! Not sure they would connect to me as much if I played them today, but I'll have the good memories of playing them.
Honourable mentions would go to Giacamelee, Wipeout, escape plan, Rayman origins/legends, sound shapes, all stars battle royale, dragons crown and I'm struggling to think of anything else unfortunately.
Me and my brother were borderline addicted to this game the first 4-6 months of its life. Haven't played it since as I felt I had my time with it (and good time it was) but lately I've been having the urge to drop back in and see what's changed. This looks like a good time to do that (I assume/hope my account will carry over from Xbox to ps like destiny?)
It's only £50 right now on Amazon UK. Can't argue with that, I was going to skip this game over the £70 price tag and wait for a sale but £50 is a more than fair price I think
Really loved playstation home back in the day, not sure I'd get into it as much these days though. I remember really liking the warhawk beta, never got the game strangely but it seems like a good game to revive. I'd give it a go. Factions 2 could be great, factions 1 was very underrated and it hunk it'll be cool to see naugty dog do something a little different. Wipeout or a modnations game would be my preferred picks though.
@dschons know the feeling. From here until march it looks to be way too packed, games that I usually would have called must buys are going to have to wait a while, elden ring and arceus will be my choices so stuff like this, sifu and Kirby will have to unfortunately wait. I haven't even finished nobody saves the world yet... I really hope God of war, hollow Knight and Splatoon are further away than I thought to buy me a bit of time!
A system that I liked but feel I should have loved (more support from Sony would have helped, can’t believe it didn’t get its own god of war or gran turismo…) but it still holds a lot of good memories for me.
My top 3 games without a doubt are Gravity Rush (still replay it once every so often), Tearaway (one of the few games that makes sense of all the gimmicks the console had) and of course Persona 4 Golden (was border line addicted to that and 3 portable).
Runners up for me would be wipeout 2048, Superstar dust delta, guacamelee, escape plan, Rayman Legends/Origins, Super Meat Boy, Metal Gear Solid Collection, Sound Shapes, Dragons Crown and Motorstorm RC. Soul sacrifice and freedom wars almost made it for style alone but I just couldn’t get into the combat for either.
Love these sort of things 👍 final fantasy 7 remake was my no 1 played game followed by last of us 2 and then rift apart. Didn't put too much time into the playstation eco system last year but I imagine it'll be a very different story for 2022 with sifi and elden ring in the first two months alone.
@lolwhatno that's a fair perspective, personally though I would like to see something about factions 2. I feel like that's something the ps5 is missing, a pick up and play style game that I can return to over and over during the quite periods between the big hits, gran turismo could be that game for a lot of people but personally I'm not fussed on racing Sims (though I do love arcade racers)
@nessisonett I don’t know about that, I’ve got a friend who absolutely loved the first one and put in 1600 hours into it, and that number was about half a year ago, probably gone up even more by now.
Never owned the first vr (or any vr). Figured if I was going to get one I’d wait until the next generation when the technology really takes off and play all the gen 1 games on that, but by the sounds of it that is highly unlikely. Would have liked to play a good few of those games but they could get remasters so there’s that. Plus it’s the new games that will make this, hopefully the horizon game will be a real killer app for the headset. Interested to hear more.
Your take on ratchet and clank is almost identical to mine. The only difference is I’ll probably look back on it more fondly because it was my first ps5 game and it looked the part (usually not something I put too much stock in but it’s a new console, it’s looks should impress)
Elden Ring! (Some very nice trailer references there btw) Sifu would be my no.2 for playstation. Also looking out for Little devil inside, stray, steelrising, god of war and suicide squad.
Not my personal goty but I won’t complain with this pick, it is very good. Loved how each chapter had its own feel, the village was great to explore but wasn’t big enough to get boring and the visuals were exceptional.
Trying to finish up as many games as I can before the onslaught of 2022 games release. I’m on the final chapter of Eastward on switch so hopefully I can hit the nail on the head with that one today. New Pokemon Snap may be a problem as I keep replaying the same missions trying to do absolutely everything before moving on, haven’t left the first island yet. Someone got me Alan wake for Xmas, played the first chapter and I’m enjoying it so far. But I keep thinking that’s how all remedy games begin for me then I get bored and don’t finish them. Hopefully this one bucks the trend. Also got pikmin 3 on sale and I haven’t even started that. But I’d say these 4 games are my main gaming goals right now.
For my ps5 I’m looking forward to sifu and Elden ring. Horizon and gran turismo aren’t for me personally. God of war could be a buy if it launches. I’m looking forward to naughty dog going all in on a multiplayer experience (so long as it’s not a repeat of uncharted 4’s multiplayer). It’ll be nice to see them put their full attention on something a little bit different that their norm. I also hope it’s free to play so I don’t need ps plus but if it isn’t I might still go for it. Also really hope media molecule has another game in the works, even if it’s a very small scale game. After Tearaway I’d love to see what they could do with the dual sense (I also just miss their games, dreams was cool but didn’t feel like an actual game).

Re: Game of the Year: Sammy's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2021
Your take on ratchet and clank is almost identical to mine. The only difference is I’ll probably look back on it more fondly because it was my first ps5 game and it looked the part (usually not something I put too much stock in but it’s a new console, it’s looks should impress)
Re: Most Anticipated PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
Elden Ring! (Some very nice trailer references there btw)
Sifu would be my no.2 for playstation. Also looking out for Little devil inside, stray, steelrising, god of war and suicide squad.
Re: Game of the Year: #1 - Resident Evil Village
Not my personal goty but I won’t complain with this pick, it is very good. Loved how each chapter had its own feel, the village was great to explore but wasn’t big enough to get boring and the visuals were exceptional.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - New Year Edition
@The_Pixel_King that’s unlucky. Hopefully this is the last time for you 🤞
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - New Year Edition
Re: Soapbox: Sony's First-Party Exclusives Will Shine Once Again in 2022
For my ps5 I’m looking forward to sifu and Elden ring.
