I had never clicked with a rogue-like game until I became obsessed with Blue Prince. Is this like Blue Prince? It looks a little like Blue Prince. Tell me it’s like Blue Prince and I will buy it!
@KillerBoy On a PlayStation site, I think you have to see the difference between remasters of Until Dawn and Oblivion, and why people would be excited for one and not the other. That shouldn’t blow anyone’s mind.
I haven’t hit the 100 limit yet, but I can’t imagine telling people who have that they are “wishlisting wrong.”
My problem is with the “followed” feature. There are games in there I’ve never heard of. I’m sure I interacted with them in some way, but I just don’t remember them. I try to unfollow games I add from PS Plus if I’m not sure I’m going to play them, but the list isn’t alphabetical or sorted by recently added so it’s tough to find them.
You should be able to click on a followed game and go to the product page to remind yourself what the game is, too.
I wouldn’t have tried Paradise Killer if it hadn’t been included in PS Plus Extra, but ended up really liking it. This is another game that I wouldn’t think I’d enjoy, but the developer has earned some trust. The demo was fun.
Plus, is that Kiryu’s voice actor playing the main character, an ex-Yakuza trying to atone for his past and make the world a better place? I might be sold.
I think a lot of people mishear that PSN is not available in 118 countries, then say it’s not available in 180 countries. Either way, that’s a lot of countries.
But whenever anyone who doesn’t know about the issue hears that, they would have to assume the person is just making up a big number, because they know there are fewer than 200 countries on Earth. So, try to use the correct number so at least your point won’t be ignored.
I won’t, but I’m sure many will. And I’m pretty sure other publishers will misread the situation and hike the prices of their own games. It won’t end well for anyone but Rockstar.
I’ve redeemed about $25-$30 worth of points, so I can’t complain. I claim trophies associated with games I already own to get them marked completed (stupid, but that’s who I am). I don’t really interact with the trophy case because it makes the app crash.
If they give points for playing a game I have access to, I download and start it. When I see the points have been awarded, I quit the game and delete it. Not sure if that’s what Sony was going for.
I’d prefer to have this all be on the console, of course.
It’s only now that I’m reading this article that I see that “second to none” and “next to nothing” are so similar in literal meaning while being near-opposites.
To be honest, playing Infinite Wealth in Japanese was oddly jarring, too. It’s unusual to run into a single American who is fluent in Japanese, but everyone in Hawaii is? Some of the major characters give reasons for their fluency, but that just makes you realize that every lifeguard, taxi driver and hot dog stand operator also speaks it.
It doesn’t matter, play what you want. I just need Kiryu and Majima to sound right.
I played the Judgment games in English, because I didn’t know what the characters were ‘supposed’ to sound like. Ditto for Yakuza: Like a Dragon, but then there were those cameos of characters from the Yakuza games and that was jarring.
Kiryu and Majima must sound like they should. I played the English demo for Infinite Wealth at the end of Gaiden and couldn’t stand the new Kiryu voice, so that was that for the English dub. I like the rest of the English voice actors, so I’ll try English again if classic Yakuza characters aren’t in the game.
I’m just here to point out that the X Community Note misuses the word “refuted.” Refuting something is disproving it. The correct word in this context would be “contradicted.”
This is being called a beta test. Does everyone get to try it, or only people who were invited? Will it be rolled out over a long time period, or all at once? Could it fail the test and be withdrawn?
I ask because remote play doesn’t work at all for me, though my internet speed is in the <200 mb range, and the only reason I’d ever consider a Portal would be for this feature.
I played the Ishin demo but didn’t click with the combat. I’ve played and loved every other game in the Yakuza universe, but didn’t buy this one. It’s price has been really slow to drop to a level I’d be willing to take a chance on it, so I’m really looking forward to trying it out.
Ghostwire Tokyo was fun. I understand a 6/10 (and appreciate Push Square’s stance on score inflation), but the combat was good and the visuals were excellent. The platinum was a bit of a grind, but no one forced me to do that. I played it when it was on Plus Extra so maybe I’ll redownload it and go for 100% now that I’m no longer bored with it.
I have no interest in racing or online games, but it seems like this is a decent month.
I’ve never used twitter so this is the first I’m seeing of this. Saying a game butchered a character is not hateful. I find myself caring less and less about complaints like this as I get older. Only narcissists need constant, unconditional praise for everything they do.
I have such a backlog, I’ve almost entirely stopped buying games. My last purchase of a new game was Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. I’m focusing on playing the PS+ subscription games I’m most interested in, so I can drop to the lowest level tier next time.
Then I’ll start chipping away at my backlog of owned games. I’ll continue to buy physical copies at good prices, because they have a higher floor than digital does.
I’m used to playing games several years after they release. A few days makes no difference.
Doki Doki is fantastic, which is why I already have it. I don’t play sports games. I’m sure Dead Space is great, but survival horror/shooter/whatever is not what I enjoy.
Probably a very good month for many people. An all-too-typical month for me.
@Th3solution I thought it was strange, too. Probably just very low priority, since it happens so rarely and the vast majority of people own so few games that the time savings wouldn’t be noticeable.
I just updated, and of course I didn’t get the Welcome hub right away.
The activity cards didn’t change either. There’s still a whole long row of activities that I can’t do.
It’s actually worse than that, though. I used to be able to click on the “Continue main story” card for Marvel’s Midnight Suns and skip most of the opening screens and load right into the game. Now it says ‘start game” and it was no different than starting the game the slow way: long unskippable splash screens, auto save warning and photosensitivity alert, then main menu.
@Th3solution I’ve only had to do it a couple of times, but it’s necessary if a glitch is preventing you from accessing a game or add-on you’re entitled to.
Being able to pick only the license that’s causing the problem will save time over having to wait while it checks every license in your library.
I always try both. Sometimes even in a walking sim, fidelity is not worth the low frame rate. Sometimes in an action game, fidelity’s 30 frames are very smooth.
13 Sentinels was great, and not TOO hard to finish in two weeks. It took me about that long to platinum.(I take a lot longer to play games than most people do. I have to read all the item descriptions.Probably 1/3 of my time was reading those entries!)
I’ve been playing Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and I’m very impressed. It looks like the complete edition goes on sale for <$20, and I think I’ll be buying that so I can take my time with it. It’s too bad it didn’t sell better. I hadn’t tried it because I’d never played a card-based game and didn’t know if I’d like it.
I have the 2 TB Western Digital and I try to keep it no more than half full.
I used to download everything I wanted to play so I wouldn’t forget because they get lost among the monthly games I don’t want (but still add to my library because I’m afraid I’ll change my mind). Now, I add games to my library then put them in a “to play” folder, and keep about ten of those downloaded at a time.
I’ve started using folders to sort games accessed through the upper tiers of PS Plus from those I’ve purchased or got through the essential level, but that’s only helpful going forward. I thought I had Cloudpunk to keep.
Is there any listing of the old PS Plus/new PS Plus Essential monthly games so I won’t be surprised again? As far as I can see, the PlayStation list and Wikipedia both lump all PS Plus tiers together.
I’d just mess up the poll if I participated. I don’t like rogue-likes in general, so if I were to give my favorite it would probably be one with the least number of failures before success.
I enjoyed the original enough to platinum it. I don’t have any need for this upgrade, but if you haven’t played it already and you have nothing better to do with your money, then knock yourself out.
Unfortunate setting. If the campus isn’t occupied by protesters it will be denounced for ignoring serious issues. If it is, then it steps into a political minefield.
I really liked the original, but it didn’t need a remaster. A basic port to modern consoles would have been nice. Developer commentary is like DVD commentary: something I think I’ll want but never actually get around to.
Hope he’s working on something new soon. The Witness was so interesting.
I have one arriving today. I canceled my preorder when I’d moved and couldn’t update my shipping address, and the cooling-off period made me reconsider given the price. This price was too tempting to resist.
I’ve never cared about how many first-party games are produced. If more games come from PlayStation, great. If they come from other sources, great. I’m hoping Riven comes to PSVR2 the way Obduction eventually did.
I’ve downloaded some demos and some free PSVR to PSVR2 upgrades and the PS Plus Premium VR2 offerings and am really looking forward to trying this out!
@NEStalgia I use iOS, but have also found that a 3rd party app (Mirror Play) works much better than PlayStation’s Remote Play. I can’t understand that.
@Goosepies I haven’t had a good enough experience with remote play on my phone to take a chance on the Portal, and what you’re describing sounds like what happened to me. The audio would stream but the picture would freeze for a couple of seconds.
Turned out, my PS5 wasn’t connecting to the 5 ghz Wi-Fi. Now that I’ve gone into the ps5 settings and fixed that, it happens a lot less often. Still not good enough to spend $200, but since you already have the Portal, maybe check that in your network settings?
I’m in the northeastern US, and had to log out and back in, but it’s up and the points I earned during the outage are there.
The Stars animation when you open the app has gone back to the old one. It had an eye- catching twinkle effect while the service was down. Maybe that animation is only for people who aren’t members to get them to click it, and it didn’t recognize that I was a member while it was down?
